  1. The Authority might work as a veddy British TV show with across the pond appeal like Doctor Who, but I cannot see it as a feature. The Boys TV show has deconstructed super heroes better than anything. No, I take that back. They Boys isn't that at all. It's a social satire about corporate, political and media power, using super heroes as the parable. Regardless, The Authority comic had shock value for its time, and wonderful art, but it seems derivative now. Doom Patrol, Creature Commandos... Make it wholly and uniquely British instead of its meta roots, and maybe they'd be on to something.
  2. That's Eclipso? What did they do to my boy?!!
  3. Happy that Masters of the WWE Universe is back. I can't wait to see more. Is there a market for Jelly Roll? I know WWE signed him, but I think Mattel would sell more of an unproduced legend (Superstar Billy Graham?), a current wrestler, like Becky Lynch in The Man era, CM Punk with his Chicago shirt.
  4. As a kid, I never wanted entertainment that was set in school. Seems like that's all there is nowadays.
  5. I know. Those stupid Jim Lee lines all over the costumes are out-of-date and were always ugly. They add nothing. I wish toy companies would remove them. I hope kids like these figures.
  6. Yeah, I was excited when I saw it, until I zoomed in. I was hoping it was a first appearance sleek Bob Kane style head, IMHO his best look. Less is sometimes more, as with Joe Shuster's Superman's head. I remain excited for this series, as an alternative to Mego and higher-priced options.
  7. The top middle one has me stumped. Looks like Snake Eyes. Do waves generally have themes? I was thinking a Crime Syndicate wave, but they only had Super-Woman. And if that isn't Granny Goodness, then I don't know. My guess: Captain Marvel, Guardian, Eradicator Supergirl, Clark Kent, Granny Goodness
  8. I wish her waist, and both of their shins did not have those distracting points of articulation. That waist one, especially, is a deal breaker for me. In the original painting, the entire scene makes him look like an assassin, not a guard.
  9. Podcasters are going to be seen in that throne for years to come. I love that Spikor, and that they're doing 5.5 origins figures.
  10. Good riddance is right. Nepo Baby Productions managed to crater Star Wars, Star Trek and deliver the worst Mission: Impossible film. Abrams is a TV director with no imagination outside of his influences. Now his Lost co-creator is facing backlash before Green-less Lanterns even airs.
  11. I don't hate it, at least he did more than take a Skeletor and paint him brown. It's almost a Little Nemo, or Gilded Age aesthetic. There is some new sculpting, but ultimately, it's just label slapping, which I guess is part of MOTU history LOL. If they hired me, I would try to do something with the bucks themselves. There are WWE bucks that haven't made into Origins, which could be cool new characters. Rather than repaint and re-armor, make something truly your own that stands alongside the original.
  12. At 76, Larry Hama would write circles around anyone else. Hollywood, he created the characters. Give him a ring if you want it done right. Stop overthinking, stop being meta, and just hire people who are genuinely passionate about such projects. I never read Lord of the Rings, but, man, that production team did, and they put their love on the screen. Same with James Cameron and the Titanic tragedy. Guess what? People showed up. Crazy, I know.
  13. Here's my pitch: G.I. Joe is the codename for America's daring, highly trained, special mission force. Its purpose: To defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless, terrorist organization determined to rule the world. Pay me, Hollywood!
  14. It is looking that way. Collector Con is a good idea in practice, except, if you pay to have a Walmart membership, not unlike Club Grayskull, you get early access. That is why, on the day the sale opens, you see things like, "500 bought yesterday," or "In 1000 carts." I hope everyone gets the stuff they want. Toys should be fun. Scalpers and FOMO take the fun out.
  15. I love the Alfredo Alcala head on that Skeletor. I don't understand why his boots are gold. That is a distracting color choice. Maybe purple with gold trim? Maybe that line will get a Castle Grayskull that resembles Alcala's/Taylor's spooky design. If any are left for kids to buy. The four gold Skeletors that leaked in the store were all purchased by the same guy, leaving none for anyone else. So tired of scalpers.
  16. I think Super Grover is going to sell out fast.
  17. I like the feature of the villain. You can remove the fireball from his head and put it in the working catapult.
  18. Great Christopher Reeve likeness... then look at all of those hideous points of articulation. What a completely unappealing way to construct a figure.
  19. Eamon's an amazing artist. The detail on these accessories are top notch. Maybe I'm biased, being an MOTU fan, but I think the Frazetta aesthetic translates better to 5.5.
  20. I hope Mattel scoops up Blackstar, and integrates it in MOTU. Though, I would not be disappointed if Icon did Blackstar and Overlord, since their 5.5" Frazetta line looks amazing. I liked some of Formo's initial offerings, but nothing has made me hit the "purchase" button in a long while. Rankin Bass had a hit with cats, then tried to repeat the success to diminishing returns with birds, then fish. We could have had an entire super powered pet shop by 1991. Thunder Lizards. Silver Hamsters. Tiger Rabbits.
  21. Her head sculpt looks better than the pictures I've seen of the regular edition. Can you confirm if it is different?
  22. To echo what others have said, if your main villain, one of the most recognizable in pop culture, is skull face, why do you make other villains who are also skull face? If the bone cross on his sword is a clue, does that mean the evil power of Skeletor is retconned as a legacy, like the power of Grayskull was? Seems a bit tidy, but that's just a general issue with retcons. "Superman and Lex Luthor were really childhood friends!" They never really work.
  23. She looks great! I always forget that in Thundercats lore, Lion-O is technically a child, and it always weirds me out. When I watched the cartoon, the whole idea of him being a mentally-young prince never really landed, I just thought they were a team, helping an impassioned, led-with-his-heart adult find his footing as leader. (Guys with magic swords tend to be the leader, in the Excalibur tradition.) The trials of Lion-O culminating in that battle with Mumm-Ra were great television.
