Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Writer Passes Away

Arne Olsen, the screenwriter who penned 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, has died at age 64 due to cancer-related complications. Beyond his work helping transition the television phenomenon to the big screen during its 1990s peak, Olsen also co-wrote the Dolph Lundgren action film Red Scorpion. His career highlight came in 2000 with Here’s to Life!, a film that he both wrote and directed, which earned eight Genie Award nominations.

His passing follows that of several other iconic figures from the original series, including actor Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver), who died in 2022, and Thuy Trang (Trini Kwan), who passed away in 2001.
