According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill is putting DC Studio behind him and jumping over to Amazon as he's attached to star and executive produce a series adaptation of Warhammer 40,000, the popular science-fiction fantasy miniature wargame. Amazon and Games Workshop, producers of the game are in the final talks after months of negotiations and fending off rival companies that also sought the rights. As of now, there are no writers or showrunners for the series, although Vertigo Entertainment is attached to also executive produce. Warhammer is akin to Dungeons & Dragons — dice are involved in the playing — but also features intricate miniatures that players can place and move around a model-constructed battlefield or world. Games Workshop in the 1980s made miniatures for D&D and launched the game in 1987. It has become the most popular miniature wargame in the world and spawned many imitators. The game’s setting is 40,000 years into the future where things are dark indeed. Human civilization has stopped progressing and is in an unending war with aliens and magical beings, with gods and demons figuring into a theological class system. The humans make up the Imperium of Man, which is militaristic. A race of skeleton-like androids is known as the Necron; there is an elvish race known as Aeldari as well as Orks; Tyranids are nasty aliens, and the T’au is a blue-skinned alien race that may offer some hope. The project is still in the early stages and Amazon has yet to close the deal.

McFarlane Toys has revealed a new one for their 7" Warhammer 40,000 line with the Adepta Sororitas Battle Sister figure. This version is being released under the Walmart exclusive Gold Label line which means there will likely be a regular release version announced at some point. A release date was not given and it's not clear if this will go up for pre-order at 2pm with other recently announced Walmart exclusives. The Battle Sisters make up the vast majority of each of the Orders Militant, gunning down heretic, xenos and traitor alike with their holy trinity of weaponry – bolter, melta and flamer. They are the foot soldiers of the Emperor, his sword of defiance and his shield indomitable. Beneath their thundering bolters countless aliens, mutants, traitors and heretics have met their doom. Wherever they advance across the battlefield the light of the Emperor spreads like a holy dawn, manifesting in miracles that see the bolts and blasts of the enemy turned impossibly aside or the foe consumed by the fires of righteous retribution. Onwards the Battle Sisters march, their exultant prayers ringing out all the more stridently at these breathtaking proofs of the Emperor’s manifest divinity, and with every squeeze of their triggers they dispatch more of the unworthy abominations that dare stand against the Master of Mankind. -Incredibly detailed 7” scale figures based off the Warhammer 40k Franchise -Designed with Ultra Articulation with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing -This Sister of Battle dons the classic Black armor of the Order of Our Martyred Lady -Includes a Bolter, a Chain Sword, and a base -Figure is showcased in Warhammer McFarlane Gold Label Series themed window box packaging

Back in February McFarlane Toys surprised us by announcing they would be doing figures based on Warhammer. They even showed us during Toy Fair their upcoming Space Marine figure. Well now it looks like a second figure is in the works based on this property with the Necron Warrior. Even though we have yet to get official images and details for the Space Marine figure shown at Toy Fair, we do have that info for this new figure. Beneath the skin of the galaxy lurks the eldritch menace known as the Necrons. Having long ago made a devil’s bargain to swap the frailties of flesh for undying metal, they now stir to murderous wakefulness on worlds uncounted after millions of years of slumber, and seek to reclaim the stars from those who have usurped them. Though they have the nigh-indestructible bodies of killer machines, the Necrons possess a macabre and captivating character, and their armies are many and varied. Whether it be a council of haughty Overlords and genius Crypteks fighting to outdo one another, a relentless phalanx of android warriors, a fast-moving swarm of Canoptek constructs, or an entire dynasty ready for war, no other army can match the resilience and sophisticated weaponry of the Necrons on the battlefield. The figure is due out later this Fall and will include Gauss Flayer, Canoptek Scarab, and base. Check out official images for the Necron Warrior below.
