Paramount is currently in the process of developing Top Gun 3, as reported by Deadline. The draft for the movie is being written by Ehren Kruger, who also co-wrote Top Gun: Maverick. Tom Cruise will be reuniting with his Maverick co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell, along with producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison. Joe Kosinski, on the other hand, is rumored to either direct or produce the film. With a staggering box office success of $1.49 billion, Top Gun: Maverick stands as the highest-grossing movie in Tom Cruise's career. The film was also recognized at the Oscars, winning the award for Best Sound and receiving six nominations, including Best Picture.

Paramount+ today announced the #1 film of 2022, TOP GUN: MAVERICK, will be available to stream globally on the service beginning Thursday, Dec. 22 in the U.S. as well as in Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and previously announced markets - the U.K. and Latin America. It will be available in South Korea and France in 2023. After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign "Rooster," the son of Maverick's late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka "Goose." Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it. Thanks to these images that showed up on weibo.com, we have a look at what appears to be a Top Gun Transformers mash-up figure coming from Hasbro. It appears to go from F-14 fighter jet to a bot named Maverick. Since Hasbro isn't the master license holder for Top Gun products, this makes for an unexpected reveal but Paramount does have a new Top Gun movie coming out as well as working on several Transformers projects, so from that stand-pont I guess the mash-up makes sense. No details on where or how this will be released, perhaps as one of Hasbro's SDCC exclusives this year??? We will update you once more details are made available and of course until Hasbro actually confirms it we will also treat it as rumor.

While Mattel was named the global toy partner for the Top Gun franchise last year, it looks like they aren't the only toy company doing products. Shown below are images via 75denny who discovered this "Full Throttle" Top Gun duel jet fighter 2-pack from Lanard Toys on the shelf of his local Walmart. While geared for kids, the set does include two 3 3/4" action figures. One of them is of the Tom Cruise character Maverick. The second figure looks to be based on a generic Russian pilot. It is unknown if Lanard will be doing other Top Gun related products, or if this is a one and done type of thing. Look for it on shelves now.
