  17. NECA today rounding out their Comic-Con At Home coverage released a few teaser images for upcoming products so that we might guess what they are. The first tease they posted were some images of weapons. This one seems fairly obvious. Our best guess would be that these weapons are for more 8" Retro figures based on the movie "They Live". The Shotgun looks very much like the one coming with the 8" Cloth Retro Nada figure they have coming out very soon. We are thinking maybe a new 2-pack with a second version of Nada and Frank Armitage. Of course we would love to see NECA do 7" Ultimate figures based on They Live, but the 8" Cloth Retro figures seem more likely. The second tease is obviously some kind of heat vision effect piece. Since NECA has previously done DC Comic based figures, you might think this was a tease for some kind of new Superman figure. Based on conversations I've had with NECA, I don't think any more DC Comic based figures are in the cards for them anytime soon, but there is another super being who is well know for using heat vision. Meet Homelander from the hit Amazon series titled "The Boys". The Boys which basically tells a story about superheroes going rogue will soon see the release of a second on the Amazon streaming service, and has already been renewed for a third season. If you haven't seen season 1, we highly recommend you check it out. So our best guess is that NECA is teasing that they have obtained the license to do figures based on this series and if so, we hope they go the 7" Ultimate route as opposed to the 8" Retro Cloth one.
  18. Amazon Prime Video released today the long awaited first-look of Jensen Ackles in the Soldier Boy supersuit for Season 3 of the hit series THE BOYS. The Super Suit was designed by Laura Jean Shannon and concept artist Greg Hopwood. When designing the Soldier Boy Super Suit, Shannon noted, Knowing that Soldier Boy is a fan-favorite character from the original graphic novels, Showrunner Eric Kripke knew the importance of the Super Suit, saying,
  19. The untitled "The Boys" spinoff from Amazon have cast Lizze Broadway and Jaz Sinclair to the ensemble cast. Broadway will play the role of Emma, a young superhero amd Sinclair will play Marie, another of the young superheroes. The untitled project was first announced as being in development in September. Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (and run by Vought International), the untitled series is described as an irreverent, R-rated show that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. The spinoff will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios. Craig Rosenberg will serve as the showrunner and executive producer under his overall deal with Sony. He is currently a writer and executive producer on "The Boys." "The Boys" creator Eric Kripke will also executive produce via Kripke Enterprises along with "The Boys" executive producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures, Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, and Darick Robertson. Ennis and Robertson created the comic book on which "The Boys" is based. Sarah Carbiener, Erica Rosbe, Aisha Porter-Christie, Judalina Neira, Zak Schwartz are co-executive producers. Broadway has TV credits including "The Rookie," "Bones," "Southland," "Splitting Up Together," and "Here and Now." Sinclair has TV credit including "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" at Netflix. Her credits prior to that include "Rizzoli & Isles," "Easy," and "The Vampire Diaries." Source: Variety & Deadline

  22. Amazon Prime Video has announced that Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) will be joining the cast of the hit series The Boys for Season 3. The casting news was made on Ackles' social media account. Showrunner and Executive Producer of The Boys Eric Kripke stated, "When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream - to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I'm happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he'll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can't wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys." The pick-up of Season 3 of The Boys was announced during their SDCC panel on July 23rd. Season 2 will premiere on Friday, September 4th, with new episodes available weekly through October 9th. ABOUT THE BOYS: The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation's paranoia. The Supes of The Seven also include Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). Recurring stars in season two include Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, Malcolm Barrett, Colby Minifie, Shantel VanSanten, Cameron Crovetti, PJ Byrne, Laila Robbins and Giancarlo Esposito returning as Vought boss Stan Edgar, among others. Based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural), who also serves as writer and executive producer. Joining Kripke as executive producers are Point Grey Pictures' Seth Rogen (Preacher), Evan Goldberg (Preacher), and James Weaver (Preacher), Original Film's Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break) and Pavun Shetty (New Girl), as well as Phil Sgriccia, Craig Rosenberg, Rebecca Sonnenshine, Ken Levin and Jason Netter. "Amazon, in a bold and historic push to expand their 'weirdo' demographic, has greenlit Season 3 of The Boys! The writers and I are hard at work in the (virtual) writer's room and we're sad to say, the world has given us way too much material. We hope to be shooting in early 2021, but that's up to a microscopic virus," said showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke. "As if that wasn't enough, we're bringing you a Season 2 after show, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys. Double entendre intended. Hosted by the incomparable Aisha Tyler and guest starring the cast and crew, it's a deep dive into how we make this insane thing. Seriously, thanks to Sony, Amazon and the fans. We love making this show so much, and we're thrilled we get to make more." "Eric Kripke and the incredible cast of The Boys continue to deliver a wild and action-packed series full of surprises and can't-miss moments that have made the series a global hit," said Vernon Sanders, Co-Head of Television, Amazon Studios. Jeffrey Frost, President, Sony Pictures Television Studios added "The Boys is unlike any other show on television. It's incredibly entertaining and compelling and elevates genre programming to a whole new level. We're very excited about Season 3 as we know Eric Kripke and this incredibly talented cast are going to raise the bar even higher. And Prime Rewind: Inside the Boys is the perfect show to bring it all home!" Aisha Tyler added, "The Boys is one of the smartest, most irreverent, unapologetically badass shows streaming. I became a fan during Season 1 and this season I'm stoked to be flying fans into the heart of the show as host of Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys. Season 2 is bigger, badder, and more audacious than ever before, so join me after every episode as we dig through the rubble pile of our feelings. I promise, we'll get through it like The Boys - dysfunctional, but together." Based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural), who also serves as writer and executive producer. Joining Kripke as executive producers are Point Grey Pictures' Seth Rogen (Preacher), Evan Goldberg (Preacher), and James Weaver (Preacher), Original Film's Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break) and Pavun Shetty (New Girl), as well as Phil Sgriccia, Craig Rosenberg, Rebecca Sonnenshine, Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Ennis and Robertson also co-executive produce along with Michael Saltzman. The eight-episode Amazon Original series will be available on Prime Video in more than 200 territories around the world, and is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios with Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film. The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, executive produced by Michael Davies, Aisha Tyler, Julia Cassidy, Eden Sutley and Jennifer Ryan, will debut on August 28 with a look back at season one and continues on September 4 to dive into each episode of Season 2 as it rolls out through the October 9 season finale. Amazon Studios, Embassy Row and Sony Pictures Television produce the companion series.
  25. Amazon Prime Video today announced that the hit superhero satire The Boys will premiere the first three episodes of its second season Friday, September 4, 2020. New episodes will be available each Friday culminating in an epic season finale on October 9. The news comes on the heels of the cast coming together for a virtual event, hosted by season two guest star Patton Oswalt, that looked back on season one and also dropped hints for the upcoming season. The eight-episode Amazon Original series will be available on Prime Video in more than 200 territories around the world, and is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios with Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film. Today's streaming event also contained a sneak preview of the new season, with the cast and executive producer Eric Kripke revealing the opening moments of season two. Creator and executive producer Eric Kripke says, "We cannot WAIT to show you season two. It's crazier, stranger, more intense, more emotional. In fact, it's too much - so the Surgeon General** has insisted we air the first three episodes on September 4, then air the remaining five episodes weekly after that. We wanted to give you time to freak out, digest, discuss, come down from the high, before we give you another dose. We only have your well-being in mind. Hope you love the season as much as we do. **No, he didn't." The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. The Supes of The Seven also include Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). Recurring stars in season two include Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, Malcolm Barrett, Colby Minifie, Shantel VanSanten, Cameron Crovetti, PJ Byrne, Laila Robbins and Giancarlo Esposito returning as Vought boss Stan Edgar, among others. ABOUT THE BOYS: The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes - who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods - abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys continue on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought - the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets. Based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural), who also serves as writer and executive producer.
