  4. It's Wednesday and you know what that means... ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at 'The Batman' first wave from the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse line. With the movie out on HBO Max since monday, I felt it was a good time to check those out. Several other toy brands have since announced their versions of it since (Hot Toys, Mezco, SH Figuarts,...), but one thing that is for sure is that Todd McFarlane beat everybody to the punch, with these figures being available everywhere right as the movie came out, with gigantic themed end-caps full of action figures, 12-inch 'posed statues', etc.. being found all over the place. First off, Mr. Vengeance, The Batman himself. If you're familiar with the dozens of other Batman figures from that line, you won't be very surprised. It's a good figure with the usual McFarlane Toys articulations ("nO tHiGh sWiVeL? UrGh!") and it will certainly do the job at looking like the Batman from the movie on your shelf, side-eyes and all. The details on the suit and the likeness are very good. Mine came with the seemingly common defect of having a double cowl (basically, the figure came with the cape that the unmasked figure should have, so he has the cowl on his head, and the cowl folded in his back), which sucks but I'll try to get that sorted out. He comes with his grapple gun. The Catwoman figure is a bit more of a mess. The female body and articulation is okay, the details, how minimal they are, are good, but the only issue I would have with that figure is that she never really wore the mask that way in the movie. The mask did not cover her mouth in the movie, and she either had it not covering her mouth, or not at all, so that version is kind of a weird choice. Based on concept art, maybe? Also, she comes with a whip as an accessory, which has to be one of the thickest whip of all time. Finally, the Riddler, which also looks exactly like he does in the movie, regardless of if you like or don't like the design of his suit. He's using some sort of military thermal facemask to hide his face, along with some saran wrap (the figure has transparent plastic around the hair, great detail). Basic articulation as well, which fits here, since we didn't really see him do any acrobatics in the movie. He comes with the carpet tucker he used in the movie to kill his first victim. I watched the movie again on monday and I still really loved it. Are you going to watch it? How many times? Let us know in the comments! More news at 11:00... I'm Vengeance!

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle (Zoë Kravitz), Oz, aka The Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka The Riddler (Paul Dano). 9. Colin Farrell is set to play the notorious supervillain The Penguin in 'The Batman' with Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight and will also be playing the character in 'The Penguin' spinoff series for HBO Max. The project is in the early stages of development and is being executive produced by Dylan Clark and Matt Reeves. It comes from Reeves’ 6th and Idaho, Dylan Clark Productions, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Television. Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) is set to showrun the project. Sources are describing the feel of the series as 'Scarface-like' as it shows the rise of the Penguin character. The Penguin, otherwise known as Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, is a dapper mob boss and one of Batman’s primary villains. Colin Farrell is set to play him in The Batman, where the disfigured crime lord is not yet the crime kingpin and dislikes being referred to as the Penguin. In the movie, which is due out in March 2022 and is set in Batman’s second year of crime-fighting, Farrell reportedly wears a fat suit and is described as unrecognizable. Source: Deadline

  15. Warner Bros. hasn't officially confirmed the following but Deadline is reporting that the release of Legendary’s Dune is no longer going on December 18th, rather October 1st, 2021. This is also the same release date for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Sources are figuring that Warner Bros. will be officially setting a new release date for this feature as well. The first reason for the release changes are that Warrner Bros. didn't want two major tentpoles –one a franchise starter, the other a franchise sequel– within days of each other, especially with Wonder Woman 1984 still set for Christmas Day. The second reason comes with the news of Cineworld and Regal closing.
  16. Deadline has confirmed that Batman himself, Robert Pattinson has come down with the Covid-19 virus and has caused production of Matt Reeves' The Batman to stop. 19. HBO Max announced today that it has given a series commitment to an original DC drama set in the Gotham City police department from The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves, Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter, The Batman producer Dylan Clark, and Warner Bros. Television. The groundbreaking television series to be written by Winter is set in the world Reeves is creating for The Batman feature film and will build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms. The series provides an unprecedented opportunity to extend the world established in the movie and further explore the myriad of compelling and complex characters of Gotham. This marks the first television project for Reeves under his recently announced overall deal with the Warner Bros. Television Group. Matt Reeves said, “This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film, but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a longform format can afford — and getting to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully about worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream.” “We are so fortunate to have such great partners in Matt, Dylan, and Terry and unprecedented access to a wealth of IP from our partners at Warner Bros. and DC,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “Our collaboration with Warner Bros. and DC allows us to elaborate and grow fan connections across these powerful brands for years to come. The drama, which is based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, will also be executive produced by 6th & Idaho’s Daniel Pipski (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) and Adam Kassan (Tales from the Loop); Rafi Crohn (Tales from the Loop) will co-executive produce. Warner Bros. International Television Distribution will distribute the series globally. Reeves is currently at the helm of Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman, which will be released in October 2021. The two-time Oscar winner admitted that between his struggles with alcohol, his divorce from Jennifer Garner, and all the problems with the shoot on Justice League that he had to abandon the role of Bruce Wayne. “I showed somebody The Batman script,” Affleck told the Times. “They said, ‘I think the script is good. I also think you’ll drink yourself to death if you go through what you just went though again.” Affleck said he “drank relatively normally,” but then things got out-of-control. “I drank relatively normally for a long time. Then you do more of it to make that discomfort go away. Then the real pain starts. It becomes a vicious cycle you can’t break.
