  4. DC Comics was in attendance today at Wondercon with their DC Universe panel and they revealed information about shows set to debut on DC Universe this year. The first about Stargirl with a new image of Brec Bassinger as a costumed Courtney Whitmore. Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (played by Brec Bassinger) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama will reimagine Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series. The second bit of information was news that the first season of Krypton will be added to the service next week, on April 5th, Swamp Thing will debut on May 31st and Young Justice: Outsiders will be returning to finish up its season on July 2nd. Plus, Titans are returning for a show’s second season this fall.
  5. Ian Ziering has joined the cast of Swamp Thing in a recurring guest star as DC character Blue Devil, a stuntman turned hero who fights occult evil. The DC Universe’s upcoming Swamp Thing live action series has selected Andy Bean in the role of Alec Holland, the innovative scientist whose research ultimately leads to his untimely demise and rebirth as the titular hero. Casting includes Will Patton in the role of Avery Sunderland. Virginia Madsen, who will be playing Sunderland’s wife, Maria and Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu.   7. Warner Bros. Television has announced that actress Jennifer Beals will be joining the cast of Swamp Thing as Sheriff Lucilia Cable. The character of Cable is an original character created for the series and is described as tough as nails and pragmatic. She has a fierce devotion to her son, Matt, is rivaled only by her sworn duty to serve and protect the town of Marais. As the community she has dedicated her life to defending is beset by strange forces, Lucilia must double down in her efforts to safeguard everyone she holds dear.

The project, which hails from James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television, is set to premiere in 2019 on the DC Universe digital subscription service. Reed has been cast as the smart and caring, CDC Doctor Abby Arcane. Her strong sense of empathy puts her at the center of a horrific life-threatening epidemic in her hometown, where she faces emotional demons from her past… while a chance meeting with scientist Alec Holland takes her into a world of horror and the supernatural, and of the elemental creature known as Swamp Thing.
