  1. David Ayer is expressing his desire for his version of the 2016 DC Studios film Suicide Squad to be released at some point. In the interim, he is taking the time to inform his supporters about the significant disparities between the portrayal of the Joker character by Jared Leto in his original vision and what ultimately made it to the big screen. According to a post on X, Ayer states that the Joker in his cut is a formidable and intense presence, embodying the essence of a force of nature. He emphasizes that his version showcases a compelling story arc that profoundly impacts the entire film. In contrast, Ayer believes that in the studio's cut, the Joker is reduced to being a mere prop rather than a fully developed character. Source: Deadline
  2. Warner Bros. Games and DC today debuted a new gameplay video for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the upcoming third-person action-adventure shooter in development by Rocksteady Studios. The video shows off a new look at the game’s high-intensity combat set against the vast, explorable open world of Metropolis, which is teeming with Brainiac’s hostile forces. Enjoyed as a solo or four-player online cooperative experience, the gameplay reveal provides an in-depth look at the multiplayer mayhem that can ensue, with each Squad member’s unique traversal abilities and attacks on full display. Whether players gravitate towards Harley Quinn’s wild acrobatics, King Shark’s powerful leaping, Deadshot’s aerial sharpshooting, or Captain Boomerang’s lightning-fast speed force, each character delivers distinct skills specific to their brand of chaos. Furthermore, a behind-the-scenes featurette was released today with members of the Rocksteady Studios team expanding on the world of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and going deeper on core game elements and characters, along with commentary on the process of taking the Squad out of Arkham Asylum and into the dynamic city of tomorrow that is Metropolis. Additionally, the video touches on the studio’s plans for new content after launch. On top of the massive story-driven campaign, vibrant open-world, and action-adventure shooter experience, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will have post-launch content updates to expand the story with new missions and earnable characters, available at no cost. The game will also have a cosmetics-only battle pass system to earn new outfits, emotes, and other items to uniquely customize Squad members. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an original genre-defying action-adventure third-person shooter where players take on the roles of Harley Quinn (a.k.a. Dr. Harleen Quinzel), Deadshot (a.k.a. Floyd Lawton), Captain Boomerang (a.k.a. Digger Harkness) and King Shark (a.k.a. Nanaue), who must join forces to take down the World’s Greatest DC Super Heroes, the Justice League. The game will be available worldwide on May 26 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
  3. Warner Bros. Games and DC today released a new cinematic for Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League revealing a first look at Batman as one of the corrupted Justice League members opposing Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. Debuted during The Game Awards, the video features the Squad’s initial encounter with The Dark Knight and closes with a tribute to Kevin Conroy, the beloved actor who passed away last month. As the iconic voice of the Caped Crusader in the Batman: Arkham videogame series, Batman: The Animated Series, and countless other DC projects, Conroy returns to Rocksteady’s Arkhamverse one final time and reprises his role as Batman in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The release date for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was also officially confirmed today. Players will be able to jump into the action-adventure, third-person shooter on May 26, 2023, when the game launches worldwide for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an original genre-defying, action-adventure, third-person shooter where players take on the roles of Harley Quinn (a.k.a.
  4. The creators of the Batman: Arkham series are back with a brand new action-adventure shooter. The most dangerous villains in the DC Universe have been forced to team up and take on a new mission: Kill the Justice League. Create Chaos in Metropolis. You are the Suicide Squad. Coming in 2022 to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
  5. In the upcoming episode of Deadline's Hero Nation podcast, Director James Gunn commented that another Suicide Squad spinoff series is in the works for HBO Max. “We’re working on something else now, another TV show that’s connected to that universe." “I can’t quite say.” Gunn continued to mention that the second season of Peacemaker is very possible. “There’s a really good chance of that.” “The show is doing extraordinarily well, and we’re excited, we all like doing it, we just need to cross some Ts and dot some Is, which is basically me.” According to sources, Gunn approached HBO Max with the idea for another series built around one of the characters in Suicide Squad. Thinking it might be based on Doctor Who alum and Suicide Squad star Peter Capaldi, who played Thinker in the recent movie, Gunn laughed, saying, “I can’t say anything. It is connected to this universe, and I don’t think it will be the same genre as Peacemaker, it won’t be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe.” “For the sake of Peacemaker, I’m really glad: It got more subscribers for HBO, billions of people saw it on HBO; for Peacemaker it worked out really well,” said Gunn.
  6. It's wednesday and you know what that means: ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at the Suicide Squad wave from McFarlane Toys' DC Multiverse line. Better late than never, I know. Those were sitting in my Pile of Loot for a while, and I finally got them a bit before Christmas. It was also a great occasion to show off the awesome street diorama I got from @78pts.of.articulation! The greatest part of that wave is of course the King Shark build-a-figure, which looks just like Nanaue from the movie, in all his goofiness! First off, Harley Quinn with the red dress from the movie. I didn't think the likeness looked great from the promo pictures, but it turns out you can definitely see Margot Robbie in there. The details and tattoo look pretty great too and she comes with the javelin from... Javelin, who met his demise earlier in the movie. Bloodsport looks pretty good too, apart from his severe case of plastic diaper (some DC Multiverse figures have that). He comes with 2 swords which is nice, but as he mostly uses guns in the movie, it's a bit meh. (I know, I know, it's because of Warner Bros studios, yadda yadda, but his guns don't even look like guns, so there could have been a loophole!). Peace Maker was also one of the figures I wanted the most from that wave, with the upcoming series coming soon. It's a pretty decent basic figure. The likeness with the mask on is pretty decent, compared to the unmasked version which looked like John Cena has a stroke. He comes with a sword, but I've seen many collectors solve that issue by either getting third party guns for him, or 3D printing it themselves. Polka Dot Man. Who would have thought we'd ever get a cinematic version of Polka Dot Man, let alone an action figure for it, huh? Polka Dot Man had a great part in the movie where he could see everybody as his mother, whom he hates. He comes with his goggles, a polka dot throwing effect (yep), and an extra arm band (which i haven't figured why it came with it. Any idea?) And now, it's time for the MAIN EVENT! The King Shark build-a-figure. That thing is so much fun! Weirdly enough, he has decent articulation on his arms. The legs are kinda stuck due to the shorts, but I've seen third party soft goods shorts that enabled the legs to move a lot better (there's also a freaking third party tuxedo for him, and i'm so tempted...). Obviously, you're not gonna put him in Spider-man poses, but that was never the goal. It still is a very fun action figure. The next DC Multiverse figures I should pick will be the whole Three Joker wave (including the Gamestop one). Pretty excited about those, as I liked the comic book and that Batman figure looks like it could be the definitive McFarlane Toys Batman. Street Diorama by @78pts.of.articulation More news at 11:00... "You came back for me??"
  7. From writer/director James Gunn comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ superhero action adventure “The Suicide Squad,” featuring a collection of the most degenerate delinquents in the DC lineup. The Super-Villains have a chance to get out of jail but only by joining the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. With a team made up of Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn, how will this collection of cons work together? Available on HBO Max in the US only at no extra cost to subscribers, for 31 days from its theatrical release.
  8. According to Deadline, Steve Agee will be reprising one of his Suicide Squad roles for the HBO Max spinoff series Peacemaker starring John Cena. Agee will be appearing in James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad movie under the role of John Economos. The character is a warden of Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary and an aide to Viola Davis’ government character Amanda Waller. Agee also is playing King Shark in Suicide Squad. Gunn is writing the eight-episode series, while directing a handful of the episodes. Gunn and The Suicide Squad producer Peter Safran are serving as executive producers with Cena serving as co-executive producer. The series will be produced by Gunn’s Troll Court Entertainment and the Safran Company in association with Warner Bros Television. The Peacemaker was created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette and first appeared in the Fightin’ 5 series originally owned by Charlton Comics. The first incarnation of Peacemaker was Christopher Smith, a pacifist diplomat and son of a Nazi death camp commandant who founded the Pax Institute, which fights dictators and warlords. The Suicide Squad is scheduled to premiere in theaters August 6th.
  9. Multiple sources from within have informed The Hollywood Reporter that Jared Leto, who played classic DC villain The Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad, has joined the additional photography shooting for Zack Snyder's Justice League. This is known as the 'Snyder Cut.' the filmmaker’s version of the 2017 superhero movie he was forced to exit and he never saw through completion. The 'Snyder Cut' will feature new rounds of shooting and the completion of the many unfinished scenes, and will air as a four-episode event series next year on HBO Max. Those included in the additional shooting are Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, and Amber Heard. Sources are stating that Jon Berg and Geoff Johns, then-studio executives who oversaw the movie and the reshoot by Joss Whedon will not be receiving producer credits on the cut. Sources close to Berg and Johns have confirmed the duo’s intention to remove their names from the Snyder Cut since they did not work on this version and are no longer studio executives. The sources also say the move pays respect to Snyder’s creative vision and the additional photography shoot.
  10. According to TheWrap, the supervillain King Shark appears to be one of the newest characters to The Suicide Squad sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy alum Michael Rooker is in talks to play the role. Created by Karl Kesel in 1994, the supervillain King Shark is a humanoid shark and the son of Chondrakha, the God of all Sharks. Introduced as a Superboy villain, King Shark has been a member of the Secret Six, the Secret Society of Super-Villains and the Suicide Squad. The sequel to 2016's Suicide Squad is written and will be directed by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. The sequel will have a completely new take on the property, in which DC supervillains are recruited by the government to carry out secret missions too dirty for the likes of Superman and Batman. Peter Safran and Charles Roven are producing. The sequel to 2016’s “Suicide Squad” will hit theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
  11. It feels as if every month, we are reading about a DC superhero movie being developed or a DC superhero movie being canned. Forbes contributor Mark Hughes has taken a look at the future of DC Films such as Aquaman, The Flash, Suicide Squad, Birds Of Prey, Batgirl, Superman and Shazam! Warner Bros. have announced they are cashing in on Aquaman and have hired David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to write the script for the sequel. The sequel is being produced by director James Wan and Peter Safran and have made over $328 million in North America and $784 million internationally. DC has discussed making The Flash movie based on the popularity of the TV show, but has been repeatedly delayed in the past, and recently once again slowed down and pushed back the expected start of production. This project may never get out of first gear. The Suicide Squad sequel is looking to take a whole new direction with having a new cast of characters and avoid direct tie-in to the first film's events. Harley Quinn is not expected to return, and James Gunn's script will be a new approach and rethinking of the property. The Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film has also fallen by the wayside, as has the solo Joker project for Jared Leto's version of the character from Suicide Squad. For the record, Birds of Prey and Batgirl will not be tied together, for those who mistakenly believed the rumors that Barbara Gordon would have a continuing arc through both films. And there is not a Gotham City Sirens project crossing over with Birds of Prey, despite rumors to the contrary. Hughes wanted to point out after discussing the Superman movies that Henry Cavill is not on the verge of making another Superman picture and did not film a secret cameo for Shazam!
  12. According to THR, the next Suicide Squad movie which is being written and likely directed by ex-Guardian Of The Galaxy director James Gunn will be released in 2021 and is expected to be more of a relaunch with mostly all-new cast, than a sequel to the 2016 movie. The title for this one is simply "The Suicide Squad", which will take the franchise into an all-new direction with more of a Guardians of the Galaxy feel to it. In other words, Warner Bros. seems to be moving more and more away from their previously established Snyder DCverse. This would be in keeping with the other recent big DC movie news about the next Batman movie featuring a younger Bruce Wayne and no longer having Ben Affleck in the role of the capped crusader.
  13. THR reports that former Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn who was recently fired from Disney for old tweets he made regarding rape and pedophilia will now be heading to Warner Bros. to pen the script for the next DC Comic based Suicide Squad movie. No word yet on whether or not he will direct the film or not.
