  1. Paramount+ today revealed the official trailer for the upcoming original event series KNUCKLES, the latest in the “Cinematic World of Sonic the Hedgehog,” from Paramount Pictures and SEGA of America. It was also announced that all six episodes of the series will be available to stream on Friday, April 26, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada; the following day, April 27, in all additional Paramount+ territories; and in Japan later this year. New teaser art and first-look series photography are also now available. In addition to today’s official trailer, on Sunday, Feb. 11, an all-new KNUCKLES spot will debut during the CBS Television Network’s Super Bowl LVIII pregame broadcast. The KNUCKLES Super Bowl spot will also be featured in Nickelodeon’s special kids and family broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII, where Knuckles and some friends will make a surprise appearance. The new live-action event series follows Knuckles (Idris Elba) on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior. The series takes place between the films SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3. In addition to Elba starring as the titular character, Adam Pally reprises his role from the film franchise as Wade Whipple. The ensemble cast includes guest stars Stockard Channing (The West Wing), Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up), Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso), Julian Barratt (Mindhorn), Rory McCann (Game of Thrones), Cary Elwes (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Paul Scheer (Black Monday), and Rob Huebel (Childrens Hospital). Special guest star Ben Schwartz will reprise his role as Sonic, as well as special guest star Tika Sumpter, reprising her role as Maddie. Colleen O’Shaughnessey will also return as a special guest star in her role as Tails. All of the key creative team from the previous films have returned for the series, including the film’s director/executive producer Jeff Fowler, who directed the pilot episode and helped transition the film's signature cinematic animation style to television, as well as Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, John Whittington and Toru Nakahara, who serve as executive producers along with Idris Elba. Additional directors for the series include Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker. The series was created for television by John Whittington and Toby Ascher, who's the showrunner during production. Whittington, who wrote SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2, serves as head writer and wrote the pilot for the series. Additional series writers include Brian Schacter and James Madejski. The combined global box office for SONIC THE HEDGEHOG and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 stands at $725.2 million. On Paramount+, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 is the top-performing Kids & Family film on the service in reach and is also one of the service’s most re-watched films. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 will be released in theaters on Dec 20th, 2024. In addition to streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Latin America, Australia, South Korea, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Japan, KNUCKLES will stream on SkyShowtime in the Nordics, the Netherlands, Spain and Central and Eastern Europe.   4. Netflix, SEGA of America, Inc. ("SEGA"), and WildBrain announce a new animated Sonic the Hedgehog series, Sonic Prime, set to premiere worldwide in 2022. The 24-episode animated adventure for kids, families, and long-time fans draws upon the keystones of the brand and features the "Blue Blur" of video game fame in a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands. Sonic's adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it's a journey of self-discovery and redemption. The series will be animated at WildBrain's Vancouver studio, and SEGA and WildBrain will jointly participate across production, distribution and licensing. In 2020, the theatrical feature Sonic the Hedgehog, took the number one spot worldwide on opening weekend and remained on top globally for weeks while breaking domestic box office records. Producers SEGA Sammy and Paramount Pictures have announced a sequel to the feature is in development.

  6. Variety has reported that Paramount Pictures has started development on a Sonic the Hedgehog sequel. The sequel would bring back Jeff Fowler directing, and Pat Casey and Josh Miller writing the script. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara will be producing, while Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi and Tim Miller are executive producing. No information regarding the casting or production start date as the movie is still in the beginning development stages.   10. Paramount Pictures have announced they are bringing 'Sonic The Hedgehog' to the big-screen on November 8th, 2019. The movie currently stars cast includes James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Natasha Rothwell, Tika Sumpter, Neal McDonough, Adam Pally and Jim Carrey. No word if the movie will be animated or live-action CGI. The film is being directed by Jeff Fowler and Dmitri Johnson and Dan Evans will co-produce, Neal H. Moritz, Toru Nakahara, Takeshi Ito will produce and Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, Masanao Maeda, Nan Morales, Toby Ascher, Tim Miller will executive produce.

Deadline is reporting that Jim Carrey is negotiating to star in the Paramount film in the role of Robotnik, a villain in the live action/CGI adaptation of the hit Sega video game, Sonic The Hedgehog. The project also stars James Marsden and Tika Sumpter and is directed by Jeff Fowler. Neal Moritz, Mie Onishi and Tim Miller are producers. Pat Casey & Josh Miller wrote the script. The movie is based on the game where Sonic must stop Dr. Eggman from completing his plans for world domination is basically the gist of this one.
