  2. If you are looking for another cool variant Stormtrooper figure to add to your collection then you might want to check out this new 6" Star Wars: The Black Series Imperial Patrol Trooper figure from Hasbro which is based on another character from Solo: A Star Wars Story. The figure features the same kind of window-box packaging we see with all the Black Series figures with the black and red box and the character bio on the back. This is figure number 72 in the line. The figure comes with a blaster pistol that looks very similar to the ones used by the Biker Scouts from Return of the Jedi. The figure also comes with what looks to be some kind of mini-night stick. These guys I guess are supposed to be the police officers of the Imperial government. Both the blaster and the stick will fit on the figures utility belt and can be held in either hands. The figure sports an armor that like the blaster shares traits of the Biker Scout. In fact these guys are listed as using Speeder Bikes for their patrols. The helmet looks more like a regular Stormtrooper than a Biker Scout though. The paint applications are basic with white and black plastic. I do have a little black mark on the white portion of the armor at the right hand. Articulation is pretty standard for a Black Series figure featuring single-hinged swivel elbows and double-hinged knees. There is a mid-section joint for swivel but don't expect much in the way of an ab-crunch. The scale is good, standing about the same height as the Black Series Biker Scout figure. It fits in nicely with the other Solo: A Star Wars Story figures. The figure is a good representation of the Patrol Trooper which I think maybe had 5 seconds of screen time in the movie but it's still a cool looking character, basically being a mash-up of the Stormtrooper and Biker Scout. If you like variant Stormtrooper figures then this is one you will want to get, assuming you can find it on shelves. You can pre-order this figure now our sponsor Megalopolis.Toys. Check out more images for the figure and let us know what you think about it in the COMMENTS SECTION.
  3. Hasbro continues to provide us figures based on Solo: A Star Wars Story for their 6" Black Series line with Rio Durant and Val (Vandor-1), both of which are members of Beckett's original crew. Both figures come packaged in the standard Black series style of window box with the black and red colors featuring a multilingual bio for the characters on the back. For accessories Val comes with a blaster similar to what you see her use in the movie and Durant comes with a pistol, rifle and removable googles. He also has a working gun holster for the pistol. For the figures themselves, I think Hasbro has done a wonderful job capturing the likeness of both characters. Val's headsculpt looks dead on to actress Thandie Newton who played the character in the movie and the paint applications are as good as any i've seen on a Black Series figure. The outfit she wears is nicely detailed and I really like how the translucent tubing on her upper body and arms look. She has a pair of goggles sculpted around her neck but they aren't useable. Other nice details on the figure include the sculpted fur around her neck that goes down the zipper-line of her jacket and the harness pieces that attach from her belt and go around here legs. She has some tails from the coat made with a rubber vinyl like material that go down her backside to her knees. As good as Val is, I think Durant is who was voiced by Jon Favreau in the movie is the cooler of the two figures. His headsculpt is also nicely sculpted capturing the alien look quit nicely. Besides the removable goggles with the red lenses, he also has a communication mouth piece which you can remove from his ear. It attaches at the figures waist so it's not really removable from the figure itself. Durant features four arms all of which are articulated and work fairly well with the figure. You can get him in multiple poses with the weapons he comes with which is nice. The jump suit he wears appears to be very movie accurate and I like the sculpting of his alien shaped feet. I think Durant is so cool in large part because he is such a unique looking character with the multiple arms and everything. Articulation is basic on both figures, both featuring single-hinged elbows. Val has double hinged knees while Durant only has single-hinged ones due to being a smaller character. Despite having four arms, Durant also has some midsection articulation with rotation. This is because the extra pair of arms are sculpted on the shoulders that stick out in the back. The scale seems to be decent when you compare these two with the other 6" Solo figures Hasbro has already released, so no complaints there. At the end of the day especially if you are a fan of the Solo movie and in Durant's case if you like unique looking alien figures, I think you will want to add these figures to your collection. Both figures have started to see release. You can get them at our sponsor Megalopolis.Toys. See more images for both figures below and let us know what you think about them in the COMMENTS SECTION.
  4. Hasbro has taken an obscure character that appeared in a movie largely panned by fans and critics and given us a fairly solid figure with this new Target exclusive 6" Black Series Moloch figure. Moloch was a character that had maybe 5 minutes of screen time in this years Solo: A Star Wars story and while I can't say this was a figure I was dying for, once in hand I have to admit it is a pretty cool figure. The packaging is the same as any other Black Series figure. The black window-box with red highlights featuring a bio on the back in multiple languages. For accessories you get a staff, pistol that fits in a working holster and removable faceplate to protect him from sunlight when he goes outside. The staff has a little bit of white paint at the end but basically looks like brown plastic. The pistol has a unique design with a metallic paint for most of the weapon. The handle looks like brown plastic. The faceplate features a cream and metallic paint that matches up nicely with the rest of the figure. I like how the face plate fits in the mask and I like how the mask itself on the figure has some articulation where the jaw portion pulls down. For the figure itself, I really like the sculpting and paint details on the headsculpt featured inside the helmet. I think Hasbro did a really nice job. The rest of the figure is draped in a robe like outfit which looks nicely detailed. You have an outer coat that is removable and while the sleeves of the coat are sculpted they match up pretty good with the outfit under the coat. Articulation is pretty basic. You get single-hinged elbows they do swivel and a waist swivel, but the lower portion of the figure is one solid piece of plastic making more a base than actual legs. This does make the figure stable so its not following over and also gives the figure a pretty hefty weight. The head does not move at all but you can have him bend forward or back at the waist area. The hands are gloved and the right hand is sculpted with a trigger finger for the blaster and the left one is a grip hand for the staff. You can put the staff and the pistol in either hand though. The belt on the figure is a separate piece but not removable. The brown harness on the chest is sculpted and then their is rope type thing that goes across the chest as well which is a separate piece attached to the figure. While the figure doesn't have a wide range of movement, I think Hasbro did a good job capturing the likeness of the character. It would be cool if Hasbro ended up doing Moloch's boss in 6" form but I don't really see that happening. This figure is sold as a Target exclusive which is available now and retails for $24.99. DPCI # is 087-16-0134. Check out more images for this figure below in our GALLERY!
  5. Shown below are the official loose and package images for Hasbro's upcoming 6" Black Series figures of L3-37 and Vandor-1 (Val) from the Solo: A Star Wars Story movie. Val incorporates Hasbro's new face print technology so the faces culpt look very true to actress Thandie Newton who played the character in the movie. Check out the new images below in our GALLERY!
  6. While you may still be trying to fully digest the Star Wars reveals made 2 weeks ago at San Diego Comic Con, we just wanted to let everyone know that this weekend is the Unboxing Toy Convention which takes place in Mexico City, where Hasbro will be on hand. We do expect them to make reveals for both their Star Wars and Marvel Legends lines. While not 100% confirmed, we are expecting them to reveal between 3-4 new Marvel Legends figures at the Hasbro panel which takes place tomorrow (8/4) at 4:30PM CST. We know they will also be showing Star Wars stuff at this panel as well, though we don't know how much in the way of new stuff they will be announcing. We'll be working with the folks from the Magios Initiative to help us bring you full coverage of the event. If all goes well, coverage should begin right around that 4:30PM time and of course if Hasbro slips anything out new earlier in the day we will also bring you coverage of that. So be sure to keep it to MarvelousNews and JediInsider this weekend for all the reveals, and let us know what you are hoping to see there in the comments below.
  7. Dimitri let us know he found the new 3.75" Force Link 2.0 Solo: A Star Wars Story Vandor-1 playset from Hasbro at his local South Carolina store. The set which is primarily made of cardboard and comes with a Chewbacca figure is selling for $44.99 and is being offered as a Target store exclusive. The set was officially announced by Hasbro last week during the San Diego Comic Con and the official release date is technically August 5. Dimitri said he could have check out with it now but decided to pass on it due the feeling that the set was overpriced being it was made of mostly cardboard. DPCI: 087-16-0136 Thanks to Dimitri for the heads up. Let us know below, will you be adding this one to your collection?
