Zack Snyder will be writing and directing a Sci-Fi adventure 'Rebel Moon' for Netflix. When a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, they dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand. The script comes from Zack Snyder, Shay Hatten, and Kurt Johnstad from a story by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad. Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Zack Snyder will be producing for The Stone Quarry; Eric Newman for Grand Electric. Sarah Bowen will be executive producing for Grand Electric.

From Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, comes REBEL MOON, an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making. When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed. Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella as Kora, Ed Skrein as Admiral Atticus Noble, Charlie Hunnam as Kai, Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Djimon Hounsou as General, Staz Nair as Tarak, Doona Bae as Nemesis, Ray Fisher as Darrian Bloodaxe, and newcomer E. Duffy as Milius, with Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins as the voice of an ancient robot knight named Jimmy. Described as a fantasy epic, Rebel Moon is being directed by Snyder from a screenplay he is co-writing with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, based on a story by Snyder and Johnstad. It is produced by Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Snyder for The Stone Quarry along with Grand Electric’s Eric Newman. Sarah Bowen is executive producing for Grand Electric. Rebel Moon will be a two-part movie event with the first movie Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire being released on December 22nd, 2023. The second movie Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scaregiver, will be released on April 19th, 2024. During the trailer presentation at Gamescom 2023, director Zack Snyder announced that a Director's Cut will be released of the two movies and the Rebel Moon video game is in the works from developer Super Evil Megacorp.
