Paramount and eOne are in talks with Chris Pine to star in their Dungeons & Dragons movie based on the popular role-playing fantasy game. Both Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley wrote the script and will be directing the feature. Deadline is reporting that Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley has been picked by Hasbro’s entertainment studio eOne and Paramount to direct a big scale Transformers theatrical prequel that sources said focuses on an origin story. Snake-Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins star Henry Golding posted this image giving us our first look of the new movie on his Instagram page in celebration of his birthday. The image shows him as Snake-Eyes walking up some mysterious looking stairs somewhere in Japan. The movie started production earlier last month and is being directed by Robert Schwentke. The movie will also star Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Ursula Corbero as The Baroness and Andrew Koji as Snake Eyes’ brother and enemy, the ninja Storm Shadow.

Paramount and Hasbro are still looking to cash in on the Transformers franchise as the companies have hired Joby Harold and James Vanderbilt to pen separate scripts as they pursue concurrent development. Details of the projects were not revealed, but the companies want to give the writers a chance to build out multiple storylines and to also expand the Transformers universe. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding is in negotiations to star in Snake Eyes, a G.I. Joe spinoff centered on the popular Ninja Commando.
