The beloved Mortal Kombat video game franchise is getting the animated treatment with Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, and IGN is exclusively debuting the first trailer for the Mortal Kombat animated movie. The synopsis for Scorpion’s Revenge reads: “Based on the worldwide hit game created by Ed Boon & John Tobias, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge spotlights the once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm - a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens. Lord Raiden, protector of Earthrealm, must gather the greatest fighters of his realm to defend it from the evil Shang Tsung in the battle to end all battles - Mortal Kombat!” Scorpion’s Revenge stars Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues as Scorpion & Hanzo Hasashi, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Artt Butler as Shang Tsung, Darin De Paul as Quan Chi, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, David B. Mitchell as Raiden, Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro, Grey Griffin as Kitana & Satoshi Hasashi, and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.   9. Wu Assassins star Lewis Tan, The Meg‘s Jessica McNamee and Josh Lawson have joined the lead ensemble of the Mortal Kombat feature at New Line. Tan has been cast in an undisclosed role while McNamee will step into the role of Sonya Blade and Lawson will portray Kano. The current cast includes Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Bridges, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Joe Taslim as Sub Zero and Ludi Lin as Liu Kang. The plot for the movie adaptation of the popular martial arts video game franchise has been kept under wraps, but will be a follow up from the 1997's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation sequel from the 1992 movie adaptation. This feature will be Simon McQuoid directorial debut from a script written by Greg Russo. James Wan and Todd Garner are producing, with Larry Kasanoff, E. The project is being directed by Simon McQuaid with James Wan and Todd Garner producing. Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins will serve as executive producers. Greg Russo wrote the current screenplay. This is the third Mortal Kombat film from the franchise inspired by the video game, following 1995’s Mortal Kombat and 1997’s Mortal Kombat Annihilation.   11. Actor and martial artist Joe Taslim will be playing the character of Sub-Zero in the newest installment of the live-action adaptation of the video game Mortal Kombat. Veteran commercial director Simon McQuoid makes his feature directing debut from a screenplay by Greg Russo. James Wan and his Atomic Monster banner are producing the movie along with Todd Garner. Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins are executive producing. Production for the movie is set to shoot in southern Australia later this year. The plot of the movie is unknown but the video game centers on a massive roster of character fighters from different realms in a fictional universe battling for supremacy. The first Mortal Kombat movie was released in 1995 from director Paul W. S. Anderson that went on to gross an impressive $122 million at the worldwide box office. A theater fight in the making as Warner Bros. new Mortal Kombat movie will be going head-to-head against Sony and Mattel Films’ Masters of the Universe with both being released on March 5th, 2021. The new fantasy-action Mortal Kombat is the third film inspired by the video games and is being directed by first-time filmmaker Simon McQuoid and produced by Aquaman’s James Wan. Two previous films, 1995's Mortal Kombat and 1997’s Mortal Kombat Annihilation, both based on the video games were released.
