  6. In one of her most classic poses, the stern and relentless fighter directs and blows a kiss that will bring the fatality to whoever challenges her. With old tombs and skulls abandoned at her feet, the pedestal of an old cemetery terrain as seen in one of the game’s stages complement the athletic warrior with golden hair, wearing her classic green and white sportswear with details in black. With her look inspired by her original concept and Mortal Kombat III, Iron Studios present the statue of Sonya Blade, the general of the defending forces of Earthrealm. Mortal Kombat is a tournament of martial arts that happens between different realms or dimensions from generation to generation and needs to be won 10 times in a row to guarantee the winner the chance to control the realm where the competition takes place. In the past, she was a soldier member of the OIA (Outer World Investigation Agency) Special Force unit on the series of fighting games Mortal Kombat, until she became commander of every Special Forces and Units operation. Debuting in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game, Sonya Blade is a tough and obstinate fighter, with many skills thanks to her training in the Special Forces. Iron Studios pay tribute to two of Mortal Kombat’s creators, the sound designer Dan Forden, better known for his photo and voice shouting “Toasty!” in falsetto on the right corner of the screen in some parts of the game (an inside joke between the members of the developing team), and the series’ head writer John Vogel, writing their names on the tombs in the pedestal with skulls, moss, and an old lamp. This statue is available for pre-order from our sponsor Big Bad Toy Store.
  7. New Line has hired Jeremy Slater to script Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the 2021 Mortal Kombat release. The 2021 release was based on the video game phenomenon created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The movie was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in April 2021 during the pandemic, opening at No. 1 at the box office and ranking among the top feature titles on HBO Max since the platform launched. The film was directed by Simon McQuoid, who produced with Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, and Wan. Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Tadanobu Asano, and Chin Han headed the cast. Source: Deadline

Now our heroes must travel to Outworld in order to defend Earthrealm and, simultaneously, Scorpion must find the ancient Kamidogu before it's used to resurrect the One Being – which would mean certain destruction of all things in the universe. 10. Mcfarlane Toys Mortal Kombat 11 Action Figure Kabal Hooked Up Skin Unboxing & Review Although the Mcfarlane MK11 is waaaaaaaay cheaper than the Storm Collectible versions, we get a (mostly) consistently high-quality line of MK figures that look awesome on the shelf. Luckily, Kabal falls into the category of the great ones. A lot of detail and a spot-on likeliness to the in-game model make this one a must-buy. 14. Warner Bros. has released 11 new motion movie posters for their upcoming Mortal Kombat release. Among the release comes the announcement of the first trailer to drop on Thursday, February 18th. From New Line Cinema comes the explosive new cinematic adventure “Mortal Kombat,” inspired by the blockbuster video game franchise, which most recently enjoyed the most successful video game launch in its history, Mortal Kombat 11. The film is helmed by award- winning Australian commercial filmmaker Simon McQuoid, marking his feature directorial debut, and produced by James Wan (“The Conjuring” universe films, “Aquaman,”), Todd Garner (“Into the Storm,” “Tag”), McQuoid and E. Bennett Walsh (“Men in Black: International,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”). In “Mortal Kombat,” MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld's Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family's safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana— the immense power from within his soul—in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all? The diverse international cast reflects the global nature of the brand, with talent spanning the worlds of film, television and martial arts. The ensemble includes Lewis Tan (“Deadpool 2,” Netflix’s “Wu Assassins”) as Cole Young; Jessica McNamee (“The Meg”) as Sonya Blade; Josh Lawson (“Bombshell”) as Kano; Tadanobu Asano (“Midway”) as Lord Raiden; Mehcad Brooks (TV’s “Supergirl”) as Jackson “Jax” Bridges; Ludi Lin (“Aquaman”) as Liu Kang; with Chin Han (“Skyscraper”) as Shang Tsung; Joe Taslim (“Star Trek Beyond”) as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero; and Hiroyuki Sanada (“Skyscraper”) as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion. Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Victoria Palmeri, Michael Clear, Jeremy Stein and Larry Kasanoff served as executive producers. Bringing the hugely popular property to the big screen, McQuoid led a team of Australian and U.S. filmmakers, including director of photography Germain McMicking (“True Detective,” “Top of the Lake: China Girl”), production designer Naaman Marshall (“Underwater,” “Servant”), editors Dan Lebental (“Spider-Man: Far From Home”) and Scott Gray (“Top of the Lake,” “Daffodils”), visual effect supervisor Chris Godfrey (“Hacksaw Ridge”) and costume designer Cappi Ireland (“Lion,” “The Rover”).
