  1. Adrenaline... In My Soul... More Figures of Cody Rhodes! This weekend, 'The American Nightmare' Cody Rhodes overcame 29 other WWE superstars and became the winner of the 2023 Royal Rumble (well, he entered the rumble at number 30, so a lot of the work was already done, but he did overcome a few, still!). After the event was over, the WWE held a press conference where Cody spoke with a few journalists, and he did mention that there will be merchandise made, including action figures, with his infamous torn pec from a few months ago! During the conference, Cody admitted that he has not re-watched the June 2022 "Hell in a Cell" match with Seth Rollins, during which he had a gnarly injury on his right pectoral muscle, and probably never will. However, he mentioned that merchandise, including action figures with said injury, should see the light of day soon. "If you thought my AEW figures were bad, just wait until you see the new ones", he added (for real, this is an actual quote...). ToyFarce reached out to a contact at Mattel to learn more about it, and it turns out there are more than one 'torn pec' figures in the pipeline. There will be both a Basic and an Elite figure of Cody Rhodes with huge, purple torn pec, along with possibly an Ultimate Edition one in the works. The Basic will have a chase version, with ALL TORN new deco. More news at 11:00... and congratulations to Cody who's heading to Wrestlemania! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  2. Mattel, Inc. and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that J.J. Abrams's Bad Robot will produce Hot Wheels, a live-action motion picture featuring the iconic and timeless toy racing car. The high-throttle action film will bring to life this beloved, multi-generational franchise and showcase some of the world’s hottest and sleekest cars, monster trucks, and motorcycles. Hannah Minghella, Bad Robot’s President of Motion Pictures said, “Before Hot Wheels became the global household name it is today, it was the dream of Elliot Handler, who was inventing and building toy cars at home in his Southern California garage. It’s that imagination, passion, and risk-taking spirit that we want to capture in this film.” Kevin McKeon, Vice President, and Andrew Scannell, Creative Executive will lead the project for Mattel Films. Peter Dodd will lead the project for Warner Bros. Pictures. Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen will oversee Bad Robot Mattel Films and Warner Bros. Pictures are also partners on the upcoming motion picture, Barbie. Now in principal photography, the film is targeted for theatrical release in 2023. The film stars and is produced by Margot Robbie under her Lucky Chap Entertainment banner and directed by Greta Gerwig who also wrote the screenplay alongside her husband Noah Baumbach. In addition to Hot Wheels, the Mattel Films development slate features movies based on American Girl, Barbie, Barney, Magic 8 Ball, Major Matt Mason, Masters of the Universe, Polly Pocket, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Thomas & Friends, UNO, View-Master, and Wishbone. Mattel Films is also developing Christmas Balloon, based on all-new IP. Bad Robot has a wide slate of film projects in development under its Warner Bros. Discovery deal, including SUPERMAN written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, ZATANNA written by Emerald Fennell, and the animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ iconic children’s book OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO with Jon Chu attached to direct. Bad Robot is currently in post-production on the female-driven thriller LOU starring Allison Janney and Jurnee Smollett for Netflix as well as working with director Matt Shakman on a new STAR TREK movie for Paramount.
  3. I was in a bit of a custom funk, when a package that I had been waiting for a (very) long time from BBTS finally arrived. The Fresh Monkey Fiction "Blank Slate" female Secret Wars style figure from their Amazing Heroes line. Could not wait to get to work, and add some women to the Secret Wars line. I figured I would start with Spider-Woman, as it's not everyone's first choice and it shows off the possibilities of the blank figure. Just paint, which adheres very nicely to the figure. Even difficult colors like yellow apply nicely. If it's makes a difference, I used Vallejo brand paints. Hope you enjoy, and as always feedback is appreciated. Thanks for looking.
  4. Nickelodeon and Mattel today revealed a sneak peek clip and official key art for the original animated series Monster High, which will premiere in the U.S. on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The comedy-adventure series following the teenage children of famous monsters will also debut in Canada, the UK, and Australia later this year on Nickelodeon and Paramount+, and in additional international territories in 2023. Also announced today is an all-star lineup of additional voice talent: · Ken Marino (Reno 911!) as Dracula - Dracula is about 4,000 years old and Draculaura's dad. He wants to be a good father but does not always have the necessary tools for the job. · Felicia Day (Mystery Science Theater 3000) as Ghoulia Yelps - Curious, clever, and with ultra-fast fingers, Ghoulia is a zombie and the top gamer at Monster High. · Valeria Rodriquez (The Valley of Tears) as Spectra Vondergeist - This ghostly girl makes up for her translucent appearance by being super chatty. She just wants to be seen! · Scott Menville (Teen Titans Go!) as Romulus - Romulus is the current head of the were pack at Monster High, though he's still got a bit of learning and growing to do. · Cole Massie (Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers) as Finnegan Wake - Charming and chill, Finnegan is a merman who uses a wheelchair to get around on land. He has a beautiful singing voice, just like his aunties, the sirens. · Victoria T Washington (Dropouts) as Howleen - Howleen is a natural leader who values integrity over the pack mindset and always speaks her mind. · Jordan R. Coleman (A Million Little Things) as Manny Taur - Big, bull-headed Manny looks like a brute, but he's the gentlest kid at school. With his penchant for solving puzzles, he's one of the only students that can compete with Draculaura for honors as a top student. · Krystina Alabado (Sesame Street Mecha Builders) as Nefera De Nile - Nefera is the mummy who has it all - beauty, popularity, royalty, and a heart of gold (literally, she dipped her heart in gold and keeps it in a jar). The new voice actors join previously announced cast members Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (Clawdeen Wolf), Courtney Lin (Draculaura), Iris Menas (Frankie Stein), Tony Revolori (Deuce Gorgon), Kausar Mohammed (Cleo De Nile), Valeria Rodriguez (Lagoona Blue), Alexa Kahn (Torelei Stripe), Alexander Polinsky (Heath Burns), and Debra Wilson (Headmistress Bloodgood). The all-new series (26 episodes) follows Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, Frankie Stein, and Deuce Gorgon, as they discover who they are, embrace their differences, and learn to be fierce and fearless at the one place they all belong: Monster High. In addition to the animated series, a live-action television movie musical based on the iconic franchise is slated to premiere Thursday, Oct. 6 on Nickelodeon and Paramount+. Both projects join other Mattel Television content in production, including series and specials based on Barbie, Masters of the Universe, Thomas & Friends, Polly Pocket, Pictionary, and Fireman Sam, to name a few. Mattel first introduced Monster High in 2010, and it quickly became one of the most successful and beloved kids' properties of all time. The franchise seeks to foster a more accepting world where everyone is proud to be their authentic self, which is more relevant now than ever before. Today, Monster High is back with a reimagined set of fangtastic characters reflected in a new set of dolls, accessories, apparel, costumes, and more inspired by the original ghouls for a new generation that embraces what makes them unique and rallies people everywhere to express themselves. Shea Fontana (Polly Pocket) serves as showrunner and co-executive producer of Monster High, with Nick Filippi (Big Hero 6: The Series) as supervising producer. Production is overseen for Nickelodeon by Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President, Big Kids Animation, and Nikki Price, Director of Franchise Animation. Fred Soulie, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mattel Television, and Christopher Keenan, Senior Vice President of Creative, serve as executive producers for Mattel.
  5. This week, the Mattel Creations Masters of the Universe Origins Eternia Playset campaign ended after reaching the goal and the first unlockable tier early on, but it came up short of reaching the final goal of 10k backers to unlock Keclar, the leader of the Elders, as well as having King Grayskull available for everyone, as opposed to being a bonus only to the early backers. It came really close, though, with 9,291 backers when time ran out. One person wasn't satisfied with this result, as King Grayskull was reportedly furious backstage that his name didn't bring more backers to the campaign. "Well, let me tell you something, ToyFarce..." said King Grayskull. "I should have been the final unlockable tier, Jack! I am clearly the biggest draw of this playset, and they put me as the early backer bonus, right at the opening. That's not how you book a campaign, brother!" he added. "The bottom line is, when they saw that they were losing steam, they added me in the final tier with Keclar, so they knew that I'm the bigger draw than Keclar. No offense to Keclar, he's doing great, but I'm better. I carried this place, Eternia, on my back for ages! If they had booked the campaign with me as the main event, they would have reached the 10k goal in no time, brother!" "I've heard people say that the Moat monster was the highlight of the set, and fans were happy to unlock it, but if that's really what they think, maybe I'll take my Power (aka "the" Power!), and go check what they do as HasLab or Kickstarter..." Could King Grayskull be threatening to jump ship? More news at 11:00... By the Power of 9,291 backers! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  6. What a weekend for toy collectors, am I right? The festivities started on Friday with Day 1 of Hasbro Pulse Con and Mezco Rumble Con, then we got a surprise drop from the Four Horsemen Studios, who surprised us with a Figura Obscura release that sold out...twice! Finally, Mattel released some pics of new WWE and Masters of the Universe products throughout the weekend, and just when we thought we could take a moment to appreciate and process all those reveals, it turns out there are more big things right around the corner! The New York Comic Con, or NYCC, the second biggest Comic Con (after San Diego Comic Con) will begin on Thursday, October 6th and end on Sunday, October 9th. That is 4 days of Comic Con! Remember the overload of reveals, photos, etc... we got from San Diego Comic Con AND from last weekend? Well, this weekend is not going to be any quieter. Hopefully, it's only reveals and nothing comes out right away, so that our wallets can recover... Oh, and after that, there's the MCM London Comic Con at the end of the month, as well... and Legions Con in New Jersey the weekend after... Oh god, we're in a Con-loop! More news at 11:00... RIP to our wallets *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  7. Skydance and Mattel, Inc. announced today plans to develop Matchbox, its iconic real-world die-cast toy vehicle line, into a live-action motion picture. “For nearly 70 years, Matchbox has carried enormous cultural relevance and inspired generations of kids to unleash their imaginations, combining what they see in the world every day with what they dream their own world to be,” said Robbie Brenner, Executive Producer of Mattel Films. “We look forward to working with our incredible partners at Skydance Media to craft a story for the big screen that evokes the same, imaginative spirit of this beloved Mattel franchise and delights fans of all ages.” “We are thrilled to be working with Robbie Brenner and her amazing creative team at Mattel,” said Don Granger, President, Feature Films of Skydance. “Pairing Skydance’s unique brand of premium, elevated action-adventure entertainment with the incredible legacy of the Matchbox brand is a fantastic opportunity. There is a shared experience for everyone who has played with a Matchbox vehicle or playset, where they create their own inventive action sequence and we’re excited to craft a worldwide adventure film worthy of such imagination.” The legendary Matchbox brand was invented in 1953 by automotive expert and enthusiast Jack Odell to solve a challenge for his daughter, who was allowed to take a toy to school only if it was small enough to fit in a matchbox. When his daughter’s school friends began clamouring for a “matchbox car,” an iconic brand was born. The high standards of authenticity for Matchbox die-cast cars have driven the brand for nearly 70 years. One Matchbox car is sold every second. For Mattel Films, the Matchbox project will be led by Vice President Elizabeth Bassin and Creative Executive Andrew Scannell. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Aimee Rivera will oversee for Skydance Media. The screenplay will be written by three-time Black Lister David Coggeshall, who wrote the upcoming Orphan: First Kill for Paramount as well as Lee Daniels's untitled Netflix possession thriller currently filming in Pittsburgh and drafts of Thundercats for Warner Bros.” In addition to Matchbox, the Mattel Films development slate features movies for American Girl, Barney, Hot Wheels, Magic 8 Ball, Major Matt Mason, Masters of the Universe, Polly Pocket, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Thomas & Friends, UNO, View-Master, and Wishbone. Mattel Films is also developing Christmas Balloon, a holiday family drama based on all-new IP. Its Barbie movie is currently in production. Coming off the hugely successful Top Gun: Maverick, Skydance’s upcoming film slate includes the seventh and eighth installments of the wildly popular Mission: Impossible series, along with Ghosted and The Greatest Beer Run Ever for Apple TV+and The Old Guard 2, Heart of Stone and are imagining of the successful 2001 Spy Kids franchise for Netflix.
  8. Spinmaster last week released a press release stating that they have entered into a 3 year agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) which includes allowing them to make DC Comic based things like remote control and robotic vehicles, water toys and games and puzzles type products. While not 100% clear, this doesn't seem like something that will effect the production of action figures from Mattel who had been the master toy license holder for DC for many years now. We've reached out to Mattel to see if we can get any clarification from them and will update you if we hear anything back. See the press release below from Spinmaster: Press Release: Spin Master Corp. (TSX:TOY; www.spinmaster.com), a leading global children's entertainment company, announced today that it has entered into a three-year global licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP). Beginning Spring 2020, Spin Master will be a new toy licensee for DC in the boy's action category, remote control and robotic vehicles, water toys and games and puzzles. "Partnering with an iconic brand like DC is a major milestone for Spin Master and is part of our strategy to invest in successful licenses to further grow and diversify our business," said Ben Gadbois, Spin Master's Global President and COO. "Children everywhere have been entertained and inspired by DC Super Heroes™ and Super-Villains™ for more than 80 years and we're honoured to be a part of that storytelling and imagined play. We are looking forward to bringing Spin Master's renowned innovation to the toy line and to sharing more details about this exciting partnership in the new year." Spin Master continues to build a strong portfolio of licensed products, including its 10-year licensing partnership with FELD Entertainment as the worldwide master toy partner and the soon to be launched line of Monster Jam® trucks. Spin Master was recently recognized for its leadership in licensing by Kidscreen, who named Spin Master #1 in Licensing on the 2018 Hot 50 Companies ranking.
  9. Between Mattel and Super7 we are very close to finally being able to complete the original ThunderCats team as well as Mumm-Ra and the original mutants with modern sculpted figures. Before I go over my wish list of figures I would love to see Super7 do next, lets recap everything we know has come or coming fairly soon. First back in 2016 when Mattel first grabbed the license to do ThunderCats Classic figures, we got Wily Kit & Wily Kat in the forum of a SDCC exclusive 2-pack. I am sure at some point Super7 will get around to re-releasing these two in some way, but hopefully if you are collecting this line you've already gotten your hands on these. Now is the best time to switch to Verizon Fios Get the 100% fiber optic network and get Internet and TV your way Ad by Verizon Fios See More Next Mattel released their first wave of Classic figures which included Lion-O, Panthro, Jackalman, Mummified Mumm-Ra, and Pumyra. Shortly after the release of that initial wave, Mattel decided to hand the ThunderCats off to Super7 so they could continue on with the line. Super7 renamed the line ThunderCats Ultimates, and for their first wave of figures re-released Lion-O, Panthro, Jackalman and Mummified Mumm-Ra. These figures have updated accessories. The figure in my opinion with the best update is Mumm-Ra, who now includes a soft-good robe. This wave just started arriving in people's mailboxes and is available for purchase from our sponsor BigBadToyStore.com. For Super7's second wave which has yet to be released, it will include a re-release of Pumyra. The Mattel version was to tall, so that should be fixed with this one. You also get additional accessories like the figures in the first wave. The other figures include Grune, Mumm-Ra The Ever Living, and Tygra. The final wave we know about coming from Super7 for ThunderCats will include figures of Jaga, Captain Cracker, Slithe and Cheetara. So after the third wave is released, we will have an almost complete set of the original ThunderCats team in figure form, (Jaga, Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Wily Kit & Wily Kat). The only one missing will be Snarf. which I don't know how they will release him. He would be to small of a character to be released as single figure, but important enough I can't see them not doing him. Why he wasn't included as pack-in with the Lion-O figure is a mystery to me. After all we are getting Ma-Mutt with the Mumm-Ra The Ever Living figure. For the bad guys we will have both versions of Mumm-Ra as well as mutant leader Slithe and Jackalman. Monkian is the only original mutant member we need, so hopefully he will be announced for wave 4. So besides Monkian and Snarf (and possibly Wily Kit & Wily Kat for those who missed the Mattel ones), here is my breakdown on the characters I would love to see Super7 do next. While not an original mutant team member, probably my favorite one of the bunch was Vultureman. I hope to see him and Monkian in wave 4. For good guys, I think the Berbils need to happen. They were the Ewoks of Third Earth but they played a major role in helping the ThunderCats get settled in to their new home. I think due to their small size Super7 should do a three pack featuring their leader Ro-Bear Bill, Ro-Bear Belle and a generic Berbill. Going back to the bad guys, rounding out the mutants is Ratar-O. He is another favorite of mine. He is a definite must for me to get the figure treatment. I suppose I should go back to good guys, and I am sure Super7 will continue to give us a mix of good guys and bad guys in each wave. For me however I would rather see figures of Demolisher, Safari Joe and Driller before seeing any other good guy characters made. Hopefully Demolisher will come with his armadillo pilot Dirge and Joe will come with his robotic side-kick Mule. Ok so getting back to the good guys, we should get figures of Bengali and Lynx-O to round out the second wave of ThunderCats from the cartoon. These two would join Pumyra from wave 2. This is getting far enough down the road that I'm inclined to say lets wait and see if Super7 is still doing ThunderCats figures by this point. Assuming they are and if I had to pick any more, I would like to see Mandora and Quick-Pick for good guys. And Captain Shiner for another bad guy. Truth is, as long as we get all the original ThunderCats and Monkian with maybe Vultureman to round out the mutants, I will be pretty happy. Let us know in the COMMENTS SECTION below which characters you want to see Super7 do the most.
  10. Over the last few days, Mattel has been posting some great reveals about upcoming Masters of the Universe-related figures. The reveals all took the same shape, with a 'curtain reveal' graphic, and big yellow text at the top. A good time to remind folks that Mattel is a multi-million dollar company... We, at ToyFarce, got a little suspicious about it on the third day. Usually, one day of reveal is nice, a surprise reveal on the second day is great, but three days in a row? Outside of ToyFair or any big event? There had to be something fishy going on. We contacted one of our sources at Mattel, who confirmed to us that there is an issue with the "reveal machine", that kept creating reveal graphics, even when no one asked. The problem has now been fixed, and hopefully, there will not be more reveals for a while, unless it is on purpose. More news at 11:00... EVEN MORE NEWS AT 11:00 REVEALED! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  11. "New recipe! Now with 25% more air!". This is what seems to be the trend the toy brands have adopted recently. We cannot pinpoint exactly when it started, since there are always been large boxes full of air, but the Black Series Return of the Jedi Deluxe Boba Fett figure seems to be the one a lot of collectors remember... Toy companies are now using what we'll call the "bag of chips approach": A packaging in which there's a lot more air, and a lot less chips (or action figure, in that case). Figures that would fit in a normal sized packaging are now sold at a premium in a bigger box, with the accessories more spread, with a 'deluxe' sticker slapped on them. Do you get more action figure? Not really... Here is a recent example: See how those 2 Boba Fett figures have the exact same accessories? One fits in a normal Star Wars: The Black Series box, the other one is Deluxe. With the cape folded in the box, King Grayskull would have perfectly fit in a normal box, too. You'd think that, at least, the MOC/MIB collectors would be happy about getting more packaging, right? Well... think again! The MOCC (Mint On Card Confederation) sent a statement to ToyFarce mentioning that bigger boxes means less space on the shelves for display, so no, they are not happy about the change (even if it does give them more box to cherish). "If the companies continue to make the packaging of our toys bigger, we will run out of space faster and won't be able to buy more!" Here's what the future might hold for us, by @chaztheguru We will keep you inform as the boxes keep getting larger! After an excellent idea sent by @darkfigtory on instagram. Give him a follow! More news at 11:00... but BIGGER! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  12. No, your eyes are not deceiving you, do not adjust your screen. In the last week, another temporal anomaly occured and several toy companies are announcing toys that already came out (or should have) over 20 years ago. Now, get in the Delorean and let ToyFarce investigate for you! In the recent years, it is no secret that "Nostalgia" has been a goldmine for all our favorite toy brands. With the TMNT, Ghostbusters, G.I. Joes, Power Rangers Lightning Collection and "retro style" Marvel Legends figures regularly hitting our shelves, it's pretty clear that there is a demand for the toys of our childhood, now that we all are adults with disposeable income. This past week, Playmates has announced the return of the Star Trek 5-inch figures. Many of us remember that line with fond memories, such as "why are they so small?" or "they don't fit with any other line!", but since we were children back then, it didn't matter and we would gladly play with them anyway. Good times. Hot Toys announced the first of the villains from Spider-man: No Way Home (a movie that also relied heavily on nostalgia), the Green Goblin. Now, that is definitely a figure that should have come out about 22 years ago, when the first Spider-man movie was out, but back then, Hot Toys was too busy making bootleg Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves and George Lucas figures. Finally, after resurrecting the line in 2017 and killing it again in 2019, Mattel has decided to bring the WWE retro line back...again in 2022. The first WWE retro wave was exclusive to Mattel Creations and sold out in 5 hours on the website. Get on it before they cancel it again! Oh yeah, we're also going to get Indiana Jones figures from Hasbro! What other line from the past would you love to see brought back to life? Let us know in the comments! More news at 11:00... or whenever 11:00 is! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!

  14. For the past year the only place in the US where you could get Mattel's new Masters of the Universe Origins figures was Walmart. We knew sometime in 2021 other retailers would be allowed to start carrying the line, but from what I am told you can expect pre-orders to go live as early as midnight tonight at places like our sponsor BigBadToyStore.com. I don't have an exact list of whats going up tonight, but It looks like things will be kicking off with new product pre-orders as opposed to just the stuff that was already released through Walmart last year. It was my original understanding that the stuff that has already been released at Walmart would eventually be released everywhere as well, but when that is made available for pre-order is not yet clear to me. Stay-tuned for more details on this as they become available.
