  1. Step into our time machine as we take a look back at what possibly could have been. Long time Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe collectors are likely familiar with the name David Vonner. Originally working on the Marvel Legends line at Toy Biz, he moved over to Hasbro when the license changed hands and continued his work there. Eventually after having a successful stint on the 3.75" Marvel Universe line, David left Hasbro and went to work for Mattel in 2016. At that time, many including myself assumed he would begin working on Mattel's own ongoing 6" and 3.75" superhero line DC Multiverse. Instead he became a Design Manger for their WWE brand, which is the line he has worked on ever since. Of course as most know, Mattel eventually lost the DC license to the likes of Spin Master and McFarlane Toys last year. While Mattel's tenure with the DC license had it's up down, I think it's fairly safe to say that it never quit reached the heights of popularity that Marvel Legends has experienced. Many collectors including myself longed for a day when we would see articulation similar to Marvel Legends on a 6" DC Comics action figure, but alas that day never really came. Well as it turns out that during Dave's time at Mattel, he actually did some work on a Batman figure, which he has now chosen to reveal to the world. It's not entirely clear why Mattel never choose to move forward with this figure or why David was never put onto the DC Multiverse team back when they had the license, a story perhaps we will hear one day. I won't pretend to speak for the entire collector community, but I will say this is a Batman figure I personally would have liked to seen released. The Bruce Wayne head and pulled back cowl is one of the best I have ever seen on a action figure of this scale. Let us know your own thoughts about this figure in the COMMENTS SECTION below.
  2. Spinmaster last week released a press release stating that they have entered into a 3 year agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) which includes allowing them to make DC Comic based things like remote control and robotic vehicles, water toys and games and puzzles type products. While not 100% clear, this doesn't seem like something that will effect the production of action figures from Mattel who had been the master toy license holder for DC for many years now. We've reached out to Mattel to see if we can get any clarification from them and will update you if we hear anything back. See the press release below from Spinmaster: Press Release: Spin Master Corp. (TSX:TOY; www.spinmaster.com), a leading global children's entertainment company, announced today that it has entered into a three-year global licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP). Beginning Spring 2020, Spin Master will be a new toy licensee for DC in the boy's action category, remote control and robotic vehicles, water toys and games and puzzles. "Partnering with an iconic brand like DC is a major milestone for Spin Master and is part of our strategy to invest in successful licenses to further grow and diversify our business," said Ben Gadbois, Spin Master's Global President and COO. "Children everywhere have been entertained and inspired by DC Super Heroes™ and Super-Villains™ for more than 80 years and we're honoured to be a part of that storytelling and imagined play. We are looking forward to bringing Spin Master's renowned innovation to the toy line and to sharing more details about this exciting partnership in the new year." Spin Master continues to build a strong portfolio of licensed products, including its 10-year licensing partnership with FELD Entertainment as the worldwide master toy partner and the soon to be launched line of Monster Jam® trucks. Spin Master was recently recognized for its leadership in licensing by Kidscreen, who named Spin Master #1 in Licensing on the 2018 Hot 50 Companies ranking.
  3. Between Mattel and Super7 we are very close to finally being able to complete the original ThunderCats team as well as Mumm-Ra and the original mutants with modern sculpted figures. Before I go over my wish list of figures I would love to see Super7 do next, lets recap everything we know has come or coming fairly soon. First back in 2016 when Mattel first grabbed the license to do ThunderCats Classic figures, we got Wily Kit & Wily Kat in the forum of a SDCC exclusive 2-pack. I am sure at some point Super7 will get around to re-releasing these two in some way, but hopefully if you are collecting this line you've already gotten your hands on these. Now is the best time to switch to Verizon Fios Get the 100% fiber optic network and get Internet and TV your way Ad by Verizon Fios See More Next Mattel released their first wave of Classic figures which included Lion-O, Panthro, Jackalman, Mummified Mumm-Ra, and Pumyra. Shortly after the release of that initial wave, Mattel decided to hand the ThunderCats off to Super7 so they could continue on with the line. Super7 renamed the line ThunderCats Ultimates, and for their first wave of figures re-released Lion-O, Panthro, Jackalman and Mummified Mumm-Ra. These figures have updated accessories. The figure in my opinion with the best update is Mumm-Ra, who now includes a soft-good robe. This wave just started arriving in people's mailboxes and is available for purchase from our sponsor BigBadToyStore.com. For Super7's second wave which has yet to be released, it will include a re-release of Pumyra. The Mattel version was to tall, so that should be fixed with this one. You also get additional accessories like the figures in the first wave. The other figures include Grune, Mumm-Ra The Ever Living, and Tygra. The final wave we know about coming from Super7 for ThunderCats will include figures of Jaga, Captain Cracker, Slithe and Cheetara. So after the third wave is released, we will have an almost complete set of the original ThunderCats team in figure form, (Jaga, Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Wily Kit & Wily Kat). The only one missing will be Snarf. which I don't know how they will release him. He would be to small of a character to be released as single figure, but important enough I can't see them not doing him. Why he wasn't included as pack-in with the Lion-O figure is a mystery to me. After all we are getting Ma-Mutt with the Mumm-Ra The Ever Living figure. For the bad guys we will have both versions of Mumm-Ra as well as mutant leader Slithe and Jackalman. Monkian is the only original mutant member we need, so hopefully he will be announced for wave 4. So besides Monkian and Snarf (and possibly Wily Kit & Wily Kat for those who missed the Mattel ones), here is my breakdown on the characters I would love to see Super7 do next. While not an original mutant team member, probably my favorite one of the bunch was Vultureman. I hope to see him and Monkian in wave 4. For good guys, I think the Berbils need to happen. They were the Ewoks of Third Earth but they played a major role in helping the ThunderCats get settled in to their new home. I think due to their small size Super7 should do a three pack featuring their leader Ro-Bear Bill, Ro-Bear Belle and a generic Berbill. Going back to the bad guys, rounding out the mutants is Ratar-O. He is another favorite of mine. He is a definite must for me to get the figure treatment. I suppose I should go back to good guys, and I am sure Super7 will continue to give us a mix of good guys and bad guys in each wave. For me however I would rather see figures of Demolisher, Safari Joe and Driller before seeing any other good guy characters made. Hopefully Demolisher will come with his armadillo pilot Dirge and Joe will come with his robotic side-kick Mule. Ok so getting back to the good guys, we should get figures of Bengali and Lynx-O to round out the second wave of ThunderCats from the cartoon. These two would join Pumyra from wave 2. This is getting far enough down the road that I'm inclined to say lets wait and see if Super7 is still doing ThunderCats figures by this point. Assuming they are and if I had to pick any more, I would like to see Mandora and Quick-Pick for good guys. And Captain Shiner for another bad guy. Truth is, as long as we get all the original ThunderCats and Monkian with maybe Vultureman to round out the mutants, I will be pretty happy. Let us know in the COMMENTS SECTION below which characters you want to see Super7 do the most.
  4. We will keep this one firmly in the rumor category for now, but listings from an online distributor have shown up listing both a Castle Grayskull playset as well as a Moss Man figure for Mattel's Masters of the Universe Origins line. The other things listed were items revealed back in August during Mattel's Power-Con at home panel. The Castle Grayskull playset is listed with a 11/20 date and Moss Man with a 9/20 date. Moss Man is also listed as being for Power-Con which is odd. Not sure if those are supposed to be releases dates, but that seems unlikely to see these items on shelves that soon. Any items released this year for MOTU Origins would be released as Walmart exclusives here in the US. Again for now, I would take this one with a BIG grain of salt until we hear something more reliable. Thanks to Adam for the heads up. UPDATE: An image has surfaced via ENDZEIT for what is said to be the inside of Origins Grayskull playset along with a Sorceress figure. At this time we cannot confirm the legitimacy of this image.
  5. As much as I spend my time online, keeping up with the latest reveals, leaks, and other news, there are still times when I walk into the store and still find a treasure that I had no idea existed. It’s amazing that, despite my constant browsing on forums and Facebook groups, I can still walk into a Target, a Walmart, or a GameStop and see something that has me say ‘WHAT?! THIS EXISTS?!’ Or even a simple ‘whoa that is way cooler than I had anticipated’. The latter happened to me much more recently. I am not a fan of transformers. Like at all. And my knowledge of the franchise is as surface level as it gets. But when I saw the Siege Optimus Prime earlier this year, I had to have it. I knew that the line was coming, but that was all I knew.! But then I saw it and I literally said ‘whoa this is way cooler than I had anticipated’. The former, where I found a figure or line I had no idea existed happened last spring/summer when I came upon the Jurassic World Legacy Collection at a Target. I knew there were figures from the new movie out, and Mattel had surprised me with how neat they were, but then I found Doctor Grant in the wild. It transported me back to my childhood and I bought up every figure in the line. Has anything like this happened to you? If so, which line or figure?
  6. Thanks to Walmart we have our first look at Mattel's 4th wave of Masters of the WWE figures which will include Masters of the Universe/WWE mash-ups of Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Jake "The Snake" Roberts And Mr. T. Check out the images below in our GALLERY! WWE Masters of the WWE Universe Seth Rollins Action Figure SKU#614214099 WWE Masters of the WWE Universe Jake the Snake Figure - SKU#238351331 WWE Masters of the WWE Universe Mr. T Action Figure - SKU#475135481 WWE Masters of the WWE Universe "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt Action Figure - 524618231 Like the previous waves, these are being released as Walmart exclusives. The figures quickly sold out this morning but we do expect Walmart to restock them in the future and they will be released in physical stores as well. Other than on the cardbacks, we don't have images for the Jake "The Snake" Roberts figure yet, but expect that to come along with other Mattel WWE reveals during their Comic-Con At Home WWE panel tomorrow (7/23) which will stream live starting at 3pm ET. The superstars of WWE and the Mattel action figure design team reveal the most exciting, authentic, upcoming WWE figure releases. Moderated by "The Last Professional Broadcaster" Sam Roberts, the panel features Mattel Elite Squad members Bill Miekina and Steve Ozer, and WWE superstars Edge, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Rhea Ripley, and Ricochet! 7. Shown below is a look at Mattel's Masters of the Universe: Origins figures on display at this week's Toy Fair. Mattel has confirmed that these will first see release as Walmart exclusives in 2020 and then see release everywhere in 2021. The figures on display today will all be released in 2020 at Walmart. Skeletor and He-Man are open ended so they will always be available. Besides figures they had on display the Battle Cat and Skysled with Prince Adam. For MOTU Minis look for series 1 to include Grayskull boxes series 2 to features Snake-Mountain. These will be done as heroes and villains blind bags.
  8. For the many still trying to get their hands on the first wave of Masters of the Universe Origins stuff from Mattel which is hitting Walmart stores in limited numbers now, I am sure it is probably hard to start thinking about per-ordering the second wave. Never-the-less, the second wave of figures have gone up for pre-order on the Walmart website and are being listed with an October 9th release date. The figures went up for pre-order yesterday and have gone in and out of stock spasmodically since then. At the time of me posting this story, I believe the only figure currently listed as out of stock is the Scare Glow one. Here are links and UPC's for each one for now and future reference. Remember these are only Walmart exclusive for this year. Next year these figures should have a greater release at other retailers. - Masters of the Universe Origins Scare Glow - Price: $14.99 - UPC: 887961875393 - SKU: 228609285 - Masters of the Universe Origins Orko - Price $14.99 - UPC: 887961875386 - SKU: 110220109 - Masters of the Universe Origins Man-E-Faces - Price: $14.99 - UPC: 887961875362 - SKU: 111638551 Masters of the Universe Origins Trap Jaw - Price: $14.99 - UPC: 887961875416 - SKU: 889472276 Masters of the Universe Origins Man-At-Arms - Price: $14.99 - UPC: 887961875379 - SKU: 187651633 Check out images for all these figures below.

  10. Mattel has released images for the cardback art on the upcoming Masters of the Universe Origins Orko figure. According to Mattel, this one shows Orko helping Man-At-Arms battle Beast Man, but the colors reveal they are guarding the entrance to the Royal Palace! This pays tribute to Alcala’s art from the original Point Dread & Talon Fighter inner packaging. It was revealed during Toy Fair that this figure along with the rest of the Masters of the Universe Origins line will see release later this year as a Walmart exclusive. In 2021 the line should see release everywhere. Check out the images of the card art in our IMAGE GALLERY below.
  11. The official website for the official Masters of the Universe Power-Con convention, today released some teaser images for upcoming Masters of the Universe: Origins figures. These will be offered as exclusives during the convention later this year. From the first image we see a teaser of a MOTU Origins 5-Pack which will cost attendee's $200. It looks like it will include figures of He-Man, Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, Mer-Man and perhaps Beast-Man. The first one in the second row we aren't entirely sure about. The second image is for an exclusive of one single MOTU Origns figure which looks to be She-Ra. This one is listed with a price of $40 for con attendees There will also be a third Hot Wheels based exclusive. No image or any other details were provided for that one at this time. We assume the Origins exclusives for the 5-pack will use the same bodies as the regular released versions and likely feature things like different paint decos, head sculpts and/or accessories. For instance, the one we think is Beast Man looks to have a different harness piece on from the regular released version we have seen. The things sticking up on the shoulders are likely bones as seen on some versions of the character. For the She-Ra, at this time there has been no announcement of a regular release version, but I would be very surprised if they didn't end up doing one sooner or later. Earlier in the week we showed you a rumored list of Origins products that supposedly leaked out from the German Toy Fair. In that list they had a Skeletor/Keldor 2-pack listed as a convention exclusive. While that entire list has by any means been confirmed, it should be noted that the con exclusive mentioned there was likely referring to this year's San Diego Comic Con exclusive, not these Power-Con ones. Power-Con will take place in Anaheim, CA on August 8-9. Tickets are on sale now.
  12. New to the forums but been a longtime browser of TNI--love this site! I wanted to share a couple of custom painted vintage Masters of the Universe playsets: Grayskull and Snake Mountain. I absolutely love MOTU and as I was gearing up my anticipation to collect the Origins line, I wanted to revisit Grayskull and Snake Mountain with an updated paint application. I normally don't like the idea of touching a vintage toy, however, I believed there was a killer playset waiting to come alive from behind the subpar and uneven factory paint job given to both sets. After priming and dry-brushing applications using acrylics (standard colors and vibrant neons for SM). The only portion sprayed on is the primer I used as the rest was hand brushed. I only amplified the amazing details that were already there. Grayskull's interior was painted with purples and blues (with stars added) to give off a mystical effect of universal power emanating from the Castle. I was inspired by the colors and themes from the original mini comics. I left the accessories alone as their vibrant, flat colors was a nice contrast that actually made it feel (for me) as though this scene popped directly from the comic pages. For Snake Mountain, the interior paint work was highly influenced by Youtuber "Count Stankus" who gave his custom a Monster Golf /fun-house 'glow' vibe--a great 80s look for a great 80s toy! I took notes off his work because he really nailed the effect. Either way...displayed is my love for ALL things MOTU and my process leading to the final product....hope you enjoy and thank you for letting me share!
  13. A Power-Con online event is coming this weekend, August 8th & 9th! This free online event will have two features. The first is a Grayskull Treasure Room. This is an online room that you can explore to find images of and videos about upcoming Masters of the Universe product, along with some teasers and new reveals. The second is our online panel room. Using Zoom, there will be several panels each day. Each will give you an intimate look at what’s coming for He-Man and the Masters! In addition, each panel will feature a Q&A session at the end for fans. Please note that due to time limitations, panelists may not be able to answer all questions. In the interest of transparency, this experience is new for all of us. There may be some hiccups as we try this for the first time. And we’ll learn from this one what works, and what else you’d like to see added. If it goes well, this could be something we add to future Power-Con events for a nominal fee. But we’re giving you this first one for free! We will have more information this coming week, along with any free registration requirements needed in order to participate. This event will only last the weekend and will be the only opportunity to see some content, as not all of it will be reposted online. In addition, fans who join us for the panels will be entered into a prize raffle. Each panel will have its own raffle so you have multiple chances to win. You don’t want to miss out! So what about the Power-Con exclusives? We have a couple updates for those. The most common question that they currently receive is “What will the packaging look like?” Some time this coming week, Mattel will do online reveals for the Power-Con exclusive packaging. Also in honor of the He-Man & She-Ra based convention, The Four Horsemen are going to go ahead and put these two figures (shown below) up for sale on StoreHorsemen.com next weekend, and the sales will be spread out over both days of what would have been the two days of the Power-Con convention. The first sale will begin at 2:00pm EST on Saturday, August 8th and will end when the allotment for Saturday is sold out. The second sale will begin at 2:00pm EST on Sunday, August 9th and will end when the allotment for Sunday is sold out. These figures are in stock and will begin shipping soon after the sale, but please allow extra time for shipping to occur due to the restrictions forced upon us by the global pandemic. Dorina Onoris and Lord Dragull will be in very limited supply and will only be available for sale as a pair (not separately). Only one purchase of the set per customer per day will be allowed. Please be aware that if a second order is placed by the same customer on the same day, all of that customers orders for that day may be cancelled without notice. Everyone – whether you were able to get a set on Saturday or not, will be able to get back into the sale to try your hand at getting one on Sunday, just like is always done at Power-Con. Some of you may already know that these two figures are included in the upcoming Mythic Legions: All-Stars 3 wave, and if you pre-ordered that wave, you are guaranteed to receive these figures when that wave is officially released. If you choose to try your luck at getting them months before the pre-ordered wave is officially released by ordering them through the Store Horsemen Power-Con debut sale, please be aware in advance that this will most definitely be a hard fought battle and the cost of getting these two figures early will be slightly higher than the normal cost of a standard Mythic Legions figure. Each pair will cost $80.00, plus shipping & handling charges.
  14. Mattel is going to be running a fan-vote that allows you to pick one of the four figures shown below to be made into a new Masters of the Universe Origins figure. The vote is said to begin tomorrow (7/21), though they have not yet revealed where exactly or how you will go to do it. Those details we assume will also be released tomorrow. The four figures which you can see concept art for below includes Anti-Eternia Man-At-Arms and Tri-Klops as well as regular Eternia versions of Wun-Dar and Keldor. Other than the 200x version I believe this would be the first time we would see a Keldor figure done, assuming he wins the vote. We will update this story with how to vote details once they become available.
  15. Shown below via WWE is a look at Mattel's 78th and 79th waves of WWE Elite Collection figures.
