  1. Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. is developing another installment from the 2005 supernatural thriller Constantine, and the studio is bringing back star Keanu Reeves and director Francis Lawrence. The screenplay is being written by Akiva Goldsman, who will produce the project through his Weed Road Pictures, alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella. Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Erwin Stoff will executive produce the project. The first movie is based on the intricate DC character that Reeves will reprise as a supernatural exorcist and demonologist John Constantine, who in the original is dying but stays around to save his soul by keeping demons from hell from breaching earth. He also gets into a battle between the archangel Gabriel and Lucifer.
  2. Plug into "The Matrix Resurrections," the long-awaited fourth film in the groundbreaking franchise that blew minds, and redefined a genre. From visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski, the new film reunites original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo and Trinity, the iconic roles they made famous. The film also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (the "Aquaman" franchise) Jessica Henwick (TV's "Iron Fist"), Jonathan Groff ("Hamilton"), Neil Patrick Harris ("Gone Girl"), Priyanka Chopra Jonas ("Quantico,"), Christina Ricci ("The Lizzie Borden Chronicles"), Telma Hopkins ("Dead to Me"), Eréndira Ibarra ("Sense8"), Toby Onwumere ("Empire"), Max Riemelt ("Sense8"), Brian J. Smith ("Sense8"), and Jada Pinkett Smith ("Gotham"). The Matrix Resurrections will be in theaters and on HBO Max, only on the Ad-Free plan streaming in the US for 31 days from its theatrical release.
  3. Netflix has acquired the rights to the BOOM! Studios comic book BRZRKR and will first adapt the story into a feature film followed by an anime spinoff series. BRZRKR is created by Keanu Reeves, written by Reeves and New York Times bestselling writer Matt Kindt, and illustrated by famed Marvel artist Ron Garney with colors by Bill Crabtree, letters by Clem Robins, and character designs and covers by Rafael Grampá BRZRKR is a brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior's 80,000 year fight through the ages. The man known only as "B" is half-mortal and half-god, , cursed and compelled to violence... even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge - working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, B will be granted the one thing he desires - the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence... and how to end it. BRZRKR originated from an original idea Reeves had been developing for a number of years. Keanu Reeves; Ross Richie and Stephen Christy for BOOM! Studios; Stephen Hamel for Company Films will Produce. Adam Yoelin for BOOM! Studios will Executive Produce Reeves recently completed production on Matrix 4 which will be released later this year. He will begin production on John Wick 4 this Spring. The anime series will further expand the BRZRKR universe by exploring different elements of the story. In the series, Reeves will reprise his role and voice his character. This is a 12-issue limited series published by Boom! Studios, with the first issue having launched on March 3, 2021. The inaugural issue has already sold over 615,000, making it the highest-selling launch in almost thirty years. BOOM! Studios has a first-look deal for live action and animated television series with Netflix.
  4. Starz President & CEO Chris Albrecht announced today at the Television Critics Association Winter 2018 Press Tour that Starz and Lionsgate are developing a television series adaptation of the highly successful Lionsgate film franchise John Wick. “The Continental” series will be set in the John Wick universe, focusing on the inner workings of the exclusive Continental Hotel which serves as a refuge for assassins. John Wick star Keanu Reeves will be involved with the project and will appear in the series. Acclaimed writer/producer Chris Collins (“Sons of Anarchy,” “The Wire,” and “The Man in the High Castle”) will write the series and serve as showrunner. The show will be executive produced by a world-class creative team led by Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk (the John Wick film franchise, The Town, Sicario), Chad Stahelski (John Wick co-director and John Wick: Chapter 2 director), John Wick franchise screenwriter Derek Kolstad, along with Collins, David Leitch (John Wick co-director, Deadpool 2) and Keanu Reeves. Stahelski will direct the premiere episode. Collins expands the universe in the series by focusing on the Continental Hotel and those who find refuge under its roof. Set in a hyper-real version of Los Angeles, the series maintains the urgency of the action along with the dry humor from the John Wick movies. Drawing upon the collaborative efforts of Lionsgate’s film, television and Starz platforms, “The Continental” continues the growth of a franchise that has already generated two hit films that have grossed nearly $300 million at the worldwide box office and a successful virtual reality mobile game. “This series is truly unlike anything else on TV,” said Albrecht. “’The Continental’ promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.” Senior Vice President of Original Programming Karen Bailey is the Starz executive in charge of “The Continental.”
