While it is not scheduled to open until later this year (Summer at Disneyland, Fall at Walt Disney World), select members of the media were recently given a sneak preview of Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Set during the battle between the First Order and the Resistance, guests will travel to the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, one of the two main attractions, will send groups of six (two pilots, two gunners and two flight engineers) on a mission for Hondo Onaka, and your results (good or bad), will follow you throughout the land. Rise Of The Resistance, Disney's longest ride, will see guests captured and taken aboard a massive Star Destroyer, including full size TIE Fighters and AT-AT's The ride will also feature John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Issac,and Daisy Ridey portraying their characters from the films. In addition to the rides, there will as be a number of restaurants and shops dealing in in-universe wares. For drinks, specifically alcoholic ones, there's Oga's Cantina, which will features drinks with names like the Fuzzy Tauntaun, Dagobah Slug Slinger, Bloody Rancor and Bespin Fizz, as well as music from DJ R-3X, "otherwise known as Rex, the former Starspeeder 3000 pilot droid from the original Star Tours in Disneyland).You'll also be able to try such dishes as the Smoked Kaadu Ribs sold at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, and the Sour Sarlaac, a drink sold at Ronto Roasters. From the Toydarian Toymaker'and Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, to Savi’s Workshop, and the Droid Depot, the merchandise from Galaxy's Edge is made to have an in-universe feel. "Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be the first area within the Disney park designed to fully integrate with the Play Disney Parks mobile app, which... will allow guests to find secrets and Easter eggs strewn throughout the land, such as translating a galactic language, participating in smaller side missions and learning about hidden treasures inside crates and containers. The app will also allow guests to interact with the droids roaming around, as well as ships, display screens and even drinking fountains. Disney cast members (park staff) will also be a large part of the land. They will all have newly designed costumes, which we previewed, and they will have character backstories to better interact in the world with guests. One of the more interesting parts of the costume aspect is that the staff will get to choose their ensemble from a large array of options. Freeform will give viewers an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the new lands at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in Southern California with a two-hour special, “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - Adventure Awaits,” premiering SUNDAY, SEPT. 29, at 8 p.m. EDT. Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the immersive and exclusive television event will allow audiences to explore the epic new lands and learn more about how this new planet of Batuu came to life. With celebrity guests including Kaley Cuoco, Keegan-Michael Key, Jay Leno, Sarah Hyland, Miles Brown and more, Walt Disney Imagineers and Disney Cast Members share how they helped bring Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to life with fascinating insider details. The special will follow Neil Patrick Harris as he meets up with Keegan-Michael Key for some laughs in Oga’s Cantina and takes a tour of Batuu. Sarah Hyland learns about the tensions between the First Order and the Resistance and creates her own droid at the Droid Depot. Jay Leno explores Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, inside and out, and Kaley Cuoco takes a special sneak peek inside the incredible upcoming attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - Adventure Awaits” is executive produced by Brad Lachman. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim on May 31 and will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando on Aug. 29, 2019.

The Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is becoming a hunting grounds for Souvenir Hunters and eBay Resellers as customers are apparently helping themselves with anything branded from the park to try and sell. Popular items being sold are the drink coasters at Oga’s Cantina, the prized coasters are emblazoned with sayings written in Aurebesh, a Star Wars language. The cards from the Oga’s Cantina virtual queue, and the color-coded flight crew cards visitors receive when they ride the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. Other items also listed are Maps of Galaxy’s Edge and eatery Docking Bay 7 sporks, a combination of fork and spoon Oga’s Cantina coaster are selling for $10 to $20 dollars while the menus for Oga’s Cantina are particularly valued, being sold for $40 dollars. Disney has not yet commented on the situation, but the park employees are trying to stop collectors by collecting menus more quickly when orders are placed. Source: Deadline

On Saturday, April 13, there will be a special panel discussion at Star WarsCelebration Chicago (April 11-15) entitled “Bringing Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Life.” Team members from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm will share behind the scenes stories, they'll discuss the guest experience, and there may just be a few surprises, as well.Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, will open on May 31 at Disneyland Resort in Southern California and August 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.(Source: StarWars.com)

As Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is scheduled to open Summer/Fall 2019 at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, respectively, StarWars.com announces a five-issue tie-in miniseries coming from Marvel Comics this April. Here's a look at the concept design variant cover art featuring Dok-Ondar, designed by Karl Lindberg and Iain McCaig, The series, written by Ethan Sacks (Star Wars: Age of Republic) and illustrated by Will Sliney (Solo: A Star Wars Story adaptation, Beckettone-shot) , with cover art by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm artists. The story takes place on Batuu at Black Spire Outpost, and feature Dok-Ondar, the Ithorian collector of rare antiquities, who was briefly mentioned in Solo: A Star Wars Story.   8. In a recent interview, Disney'sCEO Bob Iger seems to have clarified the opening date for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at the Anaheim park. When asked, '“Do you still feel like you can bring more people through the parks, or is it more about growing ticket prices?”', Iger responds, '“In some, you get more repeat visitation and increased length of stay because there’s more to do.
