  1. It was announced today that Diamond Select Toys will be acquiring Gentle Giant Ltd.. A move that will certainly bolster DST on the statue market front. See the press release below: Both Diamond Select Toys and Gentle Giant Ltd. have long been known for delivering high-quality busts, statues and action figures to collectors worldwide. Now, fans can get the best of both worlds, as DST finalizes the purchase of select assets of Gentle Giant, taking over manufacturing and distribution of many of the company’s key lines. Beginning February 1, Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC, will assume operations for all of Gentle Giant’s existing licenses, and release previously developed and newly created busts, statues and scaled-up vintage action figures. Any in-progress and future products will be offered to retailers through the Previews catalog, published by DST’s sister company Diamond Comic Distributors. Gentle Giant’s collector club, the Premier Guild, will continue to operate, with exclusive items for members and reserved access to certain products. DST has pledged to fulfill any outstanding exclusives and rewards to current members, and to expand on the club’s scope going forward. “This is a great moment for DST,” said Diamond Comic Distributors owner Steve Geppi. “The unification of many of Gentle Giant’s licenses and built-in fan base with DST’s sales and distribution channels is a recipe for success. Two wonderful companies uniting talents to produce the best of the best. Gentle Giant Studios are not involved in this acquisition and will continue to operate, performing sculpting services for a variety of clients, including DST. Shown are two-packs for Toy Story Sora with the Favorite Deputy Keyblade and an Air Soldier, Guardian form Sora with the Hero’s Origin Keyblade and Air Soldier. The final set features Disney's Hercules with a Dusk.The figures were sculpted by Oluf W. Hartvigsen, and be available this fall.

Then, in 2017, an animated series based on that world debuted on Netflix, receiving an overwhelmingly positive reception from old and new fans alike. Abrams debuted his new Star Trek universe (the "Kelvin Timeline") in 2009, fans have asked for a screen-accurate, 7" scale, fully articulated line of toys. Now, DST has brought the new timeline to the world of Select action figures! These screen-accurate figures of Kirk and Spock capture the costumes and faces of the new movies, and each features approximately 16 points of articulation, as well as multiple accessories and connecting transporter pads. New York Comic-Con is approaching, and Diamond Select Toys is prepping a massive presence at the show, with cases of advance prototypes, shelves of products for sale, a panel, two signings and an exclusive! Read on for details, and come see us at booth 1644! Starting Thursday, Oct. 4, DST will offer an exclusive Minimate of the Battle Beast Desmodius, a fearsome black bat armed with a sword and glaive. Measuring approximately 2 inches tall, and featuring 14 points of articulation, it is fully interchangeable with all Minimates mini-figures. It will come packaged in a clear polybag with hangtag, and sell for $6. DST’s panel and signings will happen on Saturday, Oct. 6, and feature designers Nelson X. Asencio (Marvel Gallery, Milestones, Premier) and Caesar (Marvel Gallery, DC Gallery), and sculptors Eli Livingston (Alien, Predator, Cthulhu) and Jean St. Jean (Classic Batman, Marvel Select, Premier). DST President Chuck Terceira will also be on hand for the panel from 12:00-1:00 in Room 1C03. Following the panel, the designer signing will run from 1:30 to 2:30, and the sculptor signing will happen from 2:30 to 3:30, both at booth 1644. One of the Muppet Show's most iconic Muppets, Electric Mayhem drummer Animal, is the first felt fellow to be made into a half-scale bust in the Legends in 3D line!
