  1. NECA around midnight last night came out of left field with a surprise announcement that they would be doing 7" figures based on the classic 90's Disney Gargoyles animated series. For those not familiar with the series, despite being a Disney property was known at the time for having a fairly dark tone and told the story of ancient nocturnal creatures who were living in modern New York City. By day they would be stone statues and by night would come alive. While technically made for kids, the stories often would be based on Shakespearean themes. The show ran for 3 seasons and contain a total of 78 episodes. While NECA has not yet released any specific details, the teaser images they released show us they are doing a fairly detailed and articulated figure of the leader character named Goliath which looks like will come with two different headsculpts. Check out the images below and stay-tuned for more details on this as they become available.
  2. he folks at Fwoosh sat down with Super7's Brian Flynn where he where he talked about various products including Ultimates ThunderCats and TMNT figures. Highlights from the interview include the following: ThunderCats have been planned out so far through wave 7 with 4 waves coming 2021. Brian stated the primary source material used for these figures is the classic cartoon and not the vintage toy line. Wave 2 are the last figures being made at the original factory Mattel used for the line. Starting with Wave 3 they have gone back to their own factories for ThunderCats. The wave 2 figures because of the Mattel factory, is likely going to see their release delayed until after the Chinese New Year, which takes place in February. Wave 3 however should see release a month later followed by wave 4 a month after that. Due to the delay of wave 2, there is a possibility they will do something special as an apology for the delay. Wave 5 won't be revealed until wave 2 ships. The 1st wave of TMNT Ultimates figures will almost definitely be re-issued with minor alterations, so folks who missed out on the initial release can still get them at a reasonable cost. The minor alteration will likely be something like a slight variation to the weapons rack colors. Wave 2 should ship out from the factory in October/November. Wave 3 will ship out from the factory after the Chinese New Year in March. The April O'Neil headsculpt has been drastically changed since the images we saw. It will have a much more cartoon feel to it. There will also be an alternate head with headphones on. They will be incorporating variant Turtles in the line. Wave 4 will be revealed and go up for pre-order in October. A Ultimates Usagi Yojimbo figure will be coming in 2021. Like ThunderCats, they have already planned out TMNT through wave 7. For their Disney Ultimates line they are looking to do straight up plain Disney characters right now like a standard Mickey Mouse. They are looking to do more off the beaten path characters. By the time they get to wave 6 and 7 Brian feels like you will be able to see a pattern of what they are trying to accomplish with the line. Robin Hood will be in wave 2 which will be shown in January. They have 4 waves planned for 2021.
  3. I can honestly say I am not sure I would ever use the words McFarlane Toys and Disney characters in the same sentence, but here we are. Several overseas retailers have started taking pre-orders for a new line of Disney Mirrorverse figures. Stay-tuned for more details on these as they become available. We've compiled images in our GALLERY below from the RPG of the characters listed to give you an idea what the figures might look like.

  6. Inspired by the classic Disney animated television series Gargoyles, the Demona Q-Fig presents the She-Demon as she prepares to leap from her perch and strike with razor sharp claws and a vicious prehensile tail.. A worthy adversary of the Manhattan Clan, Demona is presented here with a shock of red hair and the pale blue skin of her true form. She is every bit Goliath's equal, and our Demona Q-Fig perfectly captures the fury and menace of this legendary creature. The remarkable Goliath Q-Fig stands 5 inches tall from the diorama base to the tip of her bat-like wings. The base itself is meticulously sculpted to resemble the gothic rooftop of the Eyrie Building, which will match perfectly when paired with the Q-Figs. Beware, though - sparks may fly, and we can't guarantee that your collection will remain unscathed should they awaken during the night. Both figures are available for pre-order at BigBadToyStore.com.

  12. Super7 is thrilled to announce the beginning of what we imagine will be an amazing creative partnership between Super7 and our childhood heroes over at Disney. It begins today, with the launch of our first three Disney collectibles: a trio of Ultimates! Figures commemorating some of our favorite characters from the formative years of the Magic Kingdom. It will continue with...well, you’ll just have to wait and see. Ultimates! Figures are the perfect medium for our Disney launch. They provide an opportunity to serve up all bells and whistles; the ability to create something truly unique for both the Super7 and Disney obsessive fan. Our approach, as with everything, was to dig beneath the surface to find the spirit and the angles that allow us to make the toys we always wanted. The details expressed in each Ultimates! Figure are unrivaled; exactly what you want when you’re working with the classics. And the care taken to create each? That, too, is on another level. As to who gets this very special treatment, we dove deep and emerged with a few that have always held a special place in our hearts. Ones that represent the Super7 way of looking at the world. Here’s the exclusive lineup: Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Mouse From the timeless animated classic Fantasia comes Mickey Mouse, in the role that captured our imaginations as far back as we can remember. We used that same kind of big dreaming, hustle, know-how and a little bit of magic to bring this little marvel to life. Our first Disney toy ever is super poseable and features three interchangeable expressive heads, interchangeable hands, two water buckets, animated broom, axe and the Sorcerer’s giant spell book. The Ultimates Sorcerer’s Apprentice is also dressed in a tailored, velvety-soft wizard robe with a real rope tied waistband. Pinocchio One of the darkest, wildest, most incredible stories ever set to animation cels, Pinocchio gave us nightmares for years, and a hard-won set of lessons for the rest of our lives. The puppet with a penchant for tall tales and a curiosity for life reflected our deep yearning for adventure, and to fit in – perfectly telling the tale of becoming the person you’re meant to be. Super7’s Ultimates! Pinocchio is a super poseable action figure with 3 interchangeable heads showing his growing nose, interchangeable hands, his conscience Jiminy Cricket (of course), school book, axe, apple, Cleo’s fishbowl, Figaro the Cat, and a smart fabric vest with gold trim. Prince John Truly one of the great cartoon villains, Prince John and his maneless, spineless monarchy is a masterclass in political mismanagement; one he pays dearly for. Particularly with Robin Hood stealing John’s resources any time his back is turned. The Prince John Ultimates! super poseable action figure features three interchangeable heads, interchangeable hands with and without the jewels of his rings, two versions of the slithering assistant Sir Hiss, a vanity mirror, and a luxurious, plush velvet regal robe with fur trim. These will be priced individually at $45 or in a set for $135. Once again, we’re thrilled that Disney has given us this rare opportunity to bring our point of view to characters and experiences that helped define our own childhood. We hope you like them—and we can’t wait to show you what else we’re making from our favorite Disney moments from film, TV, and Parks.

It is listed as being a limited release and looks to cost around $50 US. The Disney Elite Series has been on a bit of hiatus and the figures which are made with die-cast metal tend to be a bit taller than Hasbro's Black Series figures. They are also are only sold at Disney Stores. The legs do appear to be articulated and it comes with a display stand. The antenna's on the top look to be removable. No word yet on when or if this figure will be available in the US, but it looks like it may be a nice alternative to Hasbro's recently released version.

  18. Hasbro today held their Q4 2019 Earnings Conference Call where CEO Brian Goldner spoke to members of the financial media. During the event there was no mention of whether Hasbro had renewed their licenses with Disney for either Star Wars or Marvel. For those not familiar, the current licenses will expire at the end of this year. While Goldner would not commit to any future plans beyond this year for those brands, or their continued releationship with Disney, he did say he remained positive on the prospects of them continuing to work together. While one would expect some kind of official announcement to come soon from either Disney or Hasbro on the future of the Star Wars and Marvel licenses, it's not terribly surprising that it did not come today. Hasbro will be holding a full Year 2019 Earnings Conference Call and Annual Investor Update at the New York Toy Fair on February 21, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time. If there is no announcement at that point about continuing on with these licenses, then fans might want to start panicking.
