This week's custom is a Death Star Escape Diorama by Hemble Creations "Death Star Escape. Recipe Figures - are all from Hasbro's BS 6" line and have had the joints glued and covered and they were painted using Vallejo Paints. The E-11 blasters are from Bandai's Stormtrooper kit as I think the look more to scale. Base - is foam board as are the walls and the DS walls I have printed and resized off the net and attached them to the foam board. The floor was done by firstly spraying it with matt black and then I used clear contact to give it the shiny look. The blue and black containers from https://www.facebook.com/outerrimtraders/. The bottle looking canisters are old asthma sprays and the vent's near Luke and Leia are the asthma spray holder. The whole base has been glued to a electric turntable so that it can placed into a corner and still be able to see the whole diorama. [See video @ above link] Check out the image(s) of their custom below in our GALLERY! We talked with Steven Evans from Hasbro's Star Wars design team about Haslab, the Jabba's Sail Barge, Vintage Collection and what the ultimate Death Star playset would look like. Let us know in the comment section below, would you be interested in seeing a Death Star playset done for Haslab and what is the maximum you would be willing to spend on such a thing?

Imo, one of the biggest oversights in the vintage line, was the lack of Cloud City playset(s). Sure the Micro Collection had a few, but, for 3 3/4", there was just a cardboard display. Recently, I started thinking, customs-wise, what if Kenner had reused one of their other playsets, to create a Cloud City environment? They'd done it numerous times, 'Old West'/Cantina, Land Of The Jawas/Hoth bases, Ewok Village/Robin Hood, etc...What if the vintage Death Star playset had been reused, with a few modifications, to create Cloud City? I haven't tried sketching any of this, let alone , made any mock-ups, but, what about this... Top level,: still cast in white, but, cannon is removed, replaced by 'Cloud City 'sculpture' or furniture from Han & Leia's room. This level doubles as Han & Leia's room/Dining room/ battle area. 'tractor beam'/elevator/roof recast in bronze or white? 2nd Level: still cast in black, is Vader duel area, cardboard slider portrays carbon Freeze area, maybe with 'window' flaps' allowing figure to fly through 3rd Level: recast in black w/ orange decals, 'trap door' 'becomes 'carbon freeze', 'lowering mechanism' replaces trash compactor. I'd also add some sort of 'gantry attachment to outside wall, below 'window'. Bottom level houses mechanism to lover Han/switch out carbonite; although outside wall could also double as East Platform w/ Slave 1 or Platform 327 w/ Falcon Granted, this would take a lot of modification, esp the reworked top and bottom levels, carbon freeze,, and gantry add-on, but, man, I wish I had the budget and/or skills to pull this off, lol
