"It's the 6th time it has happened... in a row." said Matthew, a toy collector who enjoys making custom action figures, as many other collectors do. Finding the correct parts, painting them, molding, 3D printing, etc... there are lots of fun ways to make a custom action figure of a character you want... only to see an official action figure announced immediately after you're done. ToyFarce investigated... "It's like a curse!" said Matthew. "It never fails! A couple of months ago, I started a custom figure of Angel from the X-Men, in his red and white... I found the parts, the perfect wings, everything. It took me a couple of months to finish it, but I was pretty happy with the result... And then Hasbro announced a way better the same day." "More recently, I finished a 'Patch' version of Wolverine. I bought the Indiana Jones Club Obi Wan figure to use his white suit, painted his shirt white, then switched his hands and head with Wolverine parts, painted an eye patch... It looked pretty nice. I put it on my shelf, and started the Marvel Legends Fanstream, only to see that figure announced in a two-pack with a 'Joe Fixit' Hulk. WHYYYY?" Basically, if you want an action figure of a character made, just start making a custom action figure of it! What figures should we start making a custom of (in order to have it released later)? Let us know in the comments! More news at 11:00... "Next time, I'll wait for their announcements before starting!"

I remember growing up with John Byrne's Wonder Woman comics, and I've always liked the classic costume. The DC Universe Classics figure (both classic & New 52) & the Mattel figure weren't as articulated as I wanted.... so made one to my own liking! I'm really happy with how it turned out, especially since it scales with my Mafex Hush figures (until such time a Jim Lee art WW is released!) Recipe:- Head - Marvel Legends Retro Mary Jane head, with hair from DC Icons Wonder Woman Chest, arms & boots - ML comic Scarlet Witch Lower body & gauntlets - ML Shiklah Upper legs - ML White Rabbit Lower legs - ML comic Elektra

This was the costume she wore when she finally separated with the phoenix and showed her raw power, proving she is also powerful without it. Am really hoping Hasbro would make X-men red figures! This custom is an Original Character, and she was recently completed as part of a team I'm building, which I hope to finish someday. Her name is Agent Condor and she is a super soldier, an Entradan gal with light-blue skin [per her real face, which isn't included]. The base body was Marvel Legends Lady Deadpool. And I had to do a total repaint and a host of mods to the original toy's sculpt, to get the body that I wanted. Her body armor parts were all hand sculpted from putty and some fodder was added to some parts, like the gun holster on her right thigh. Her helmet and sword came from GI Joe Classified Snake Eyes, while her guns came from ebay. And she was hand-painted with Tamiya paints. And she is riding a custom painted Cobra COIL motorcycle, which came from the Classified Cobra Baroness toy. And 10 more pics of her are in my DSNG Blog, just search for it! Thanks for looking! Enjoy and Share!

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boy this one was something. It took months to figure out what I wanted too do with this figure at first it started as a simple ab crunch modification, then it got outta hand which meant I needed to sculpt armor around the ab crunch which also didn't look to great then, just earlier this week it hit me. Make the shredder I wanted almost like my drawings and here it is! I used the tmnt target shredder as the base and took of the rubber shirt he had and sculpted the armor painted it black then silver did the same for the armor on the legs and arms. Then I used the dc collectibles shredder's head drilled in the peg hole then put plati-make in the hole so it could fit on the peg then painted black then silver. Then for the hands I used the closed fist from the odin baf iron fist and cut the blades off the dc collectibles shredder and glued them on top. then I sculpted around the upper biceps to make them look like the end of sleeves and painted those silver. Then the front loincloth is from the gi joe classified storm shadow. Then finally for the sword just painted the black and bottom silver and cut the circle around the blade. So that was my custom shredder he is my favorite TMNT character and one of my favorite villains of all time and im happy I finally finished him, thank you for taking your time to read and look at my custom!

New to the forums but been a longtime browser of TNI--love this site! I wanted to share a couple of custom painted vintage Masters of the Universe playsets: Grayskull and Snake Mountain. I absolutely love MOTU and as I was gearing up my anticipation to collect the Origins line, I wanted to revisit Grayskull and Snake Mountain with an updated paint application. I normally don't like the idea of touching a vintage toy, however, I believed there was a killer playset waiting to come alive from behind the subpar and uneven factory paint job given to both sets. After priming and dry-brushing applications using acrylics (standard colors and vibrant neons for SM). The only portion sprayed on is the primer I used as the rest was hand brushed. I only amplified the amazing details that were already there. Grayskull's interior was painted with purples and blues (with stars added) to give off a mystical effect of universal power emanating from the Castle. I was inspired by the colors and themes from the original mini comics. I left the accessories alone as their vibrant, flat colors was a nice contrast that actually made it feel (for me) as though this scene popped directly from the comic pages. For Snake Mountain, the interior paint work was highly influenced by Youtuber "Count Stankus" who gave his custom a Monster Golf /fun-house 'glow' vibe--a great 80s look for a great 80s toy! I took notes off his work because he really nailed the effect. Either way...displayed is my love for ALL things MOTU and my process leading to the final product....hope you enjoy and thank you for letting me share!

I stole this idea of a Custom years ago. It's a Juggernaut Select with Apocalypse BAF pieces for the head and neck. Sculpted the Arm, belt and hand bands I THINK. Painted Black and metallic blue. Also some metallic silver. What I needed to do was add some tubes for his arms, but too cheap to finish it off. Head fully moves around, I think I dremeled to fit and then used hot glue gun to get it to fit and rotate/swivel. Probably did a couple more things to it, but cannot remember. Been a few years since "completed" it.

This it's one of 100s of spidey customs. Simple repaint of Tobey with a casted head. Think snapshot spidey. Cheap apple barrel paints but the blue it's from a paint marker. I tried to do bright paints and really enjoy sculpted weblines over painted. Painted lines just look awful on plastic figures imo and almost always bent in someway. Hence I use this Tobey Spidey Buck as they are the most jointed, Spidey like, well sculpted, proportioned figure of Spidey out there. Will post more as I like JC and like Toy Newsi. Pics are a bit underwhelming, but it's still an incredible buck for Spidey. Lines were done with Black paint on a dried fine point marker and then sealed with matte sealer. Later will do better pics of my custom spideys. Almost all are repaints with interchanged pieces and almost no sculpt work. Looking at the pics, their is some dust on the head....been displayed for years. Again, sorry for the poor pics. This wasn't really planned, it was just like, I enjoy JC and want to help TNI thrive so, will post lots the coming weeks/days.
