  1. "Utter and total injustice." That is what a collector felt after discovering that other collectors were receiving a new coveted action figure before him, even though he had woken up early and was able to place his order within a few seconds after the item went live. A terrible situation, truly deserving to be told during our October Horror Stories series. Viewers discretion is advised. "The pre-orders opened at 9 A.M., so I woke up early to be sure not to miss it." said the collector. "I was logged in, with everything ready for a smooth transaction and I am fairly sure I was one of the first few people to order. A few days later, I saw that other people were starting to get their items, even though I still hadn't gotten my notification of shipment. One person, then 2, then a few more... That's when I started to get nervous. It was like the company was actively ignoring my order, processing every other orders first... even though I was one of the first few!" "I feel like companies should process the orders in the exact order that they were placed, and wait that the first orders have received theirs before shipping the rest. It shouldn't matter if you live closer to where the item is shipped fro, I don't understand the logistics of shipments anyway. They should first wait that I get my item, and then ship it to others." "The only thing I can do now is to comment on every posts from people that have gotten it before me that mine still hasn't shipped yet, hoping that it will make things go faster." Right before publishing the article, the collector reached out to tell us that he had finally gotten his notification and that he should get the item soon, even though he cares a bit less about it now, since everybody else had gotten it before him. More news at 11:00... "It didn't even sell out in minutes, now I feel robbed..." *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  2. "It all happened so fast..." What started as a project to make more space in a toy collector's display ended up in the addition of not 1, but 2 new lines to his collection! What exactly happened? ToyFarce investigated... "I had been thinking about adding a new shelf for some time, since all of my shelves have been really crowded for a while." said Nicolas, a collector from France. "At first, there was a lot of space for the figures, but I kept adding more, and adding more, and now, they're all lined up like roman soldiers, shoulder to shoulder. So I decided it was time." Nicolas went to Ikea and bought a BERGSHULT shelf, along with the GRANHULT brackets (it is important to always write Ikea furniture names in capital letters). "I installed the shelf, and man, did I feel accomplished! I can now make more space on my already crowded shelves... Or should I?" An intense feeling went through the collector's body. "I had a moment when I just realized that I now have some space available, and I could maybe buy some of those other figures from that line I never got into, because I didn't have enough space! That new shelf is like a blank canvas, you see, and I can fill it with whatever I want. Something new, perhaps? The possibilities are endless. Exciting!" It was later revealed that Nicolas had started buying figures from 2 lines that he didn't collect prior to getting the new BERGSHULT. More news at 11:00... "What if I get TWO new shelves?!"
  3. You've probably seen videos like that before, whether it is on YouTube or TikTok: a collector goes to a superstore, looks behind a box of dog food in the pet section and finds a bunch of NECA TMNT 2-packs. In another video, G.I.Joe Classified Series figures hidden in the fruits and vegetables section. Those collectors are really lucky, right? Surely, it couldn't be staged... ToyFarce investigated... A few Target employee told us about a recent interaction they had with a collector, who was caught hiding figures all over the store, before filming himself "discovering" them: "We used to see him every few days. He'd come, grab a couple of action figures, then put them in different places", a Target employee said. "Then, he would hit 'record', and act like he had just found them by accident while doing groceries." "It was fine at first, we thought it was just silly. But then, he started to move entire shopping carts to different places, and sometimes, he would not put them back after he was done", another employee explained. "That's more work for us, then, and that's not OK. He would do this for hours, probably filming videos for several weeks..." "I've even seen him do that with his own toys once! He had an action figure from another store in his backpack, and hid it in the light bulbs section", a third one told us. "We reported it to our manager, and watched several occurrences from the security cameras, and the manager agreed that something needed to be done. He is now banned from Target in the whole state." More news at 11:00... Wait... WHAT IS THIS UNDER THE SHELF? SOMEONE'S STASH?! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  4. Did you ever wonder how today's toy community would have done in the past? Well, ToyFarce was wondering the same! These days, it is not uncommon to see a lot of 'action figure politics' (aka drama, thanks @ShartimusPrime!). Would the classic toys from the past have been successful in this day and age? ToyFarce sent a few collectors in the past, with their mobile phones and internet, to see what type of comments we would have seen. (Don't ask about the science part, we don't really get it either...) Star Wars Early Bird Certificate Package (1977) StarWarsCollector1961: 'Early Bird'? More like 'Early Turd'! Kenner really thought they could give us a piece of cardboard instead of our action figures, and now we're supposed to wait? Where are my toys, Kenner?! I WANT MY MONEY BACK! G.I.Joe turns 3.75" (1982) YoJoeNumber1Collector: G.I.Joes are supposed to be 12", and not 3.75"! This will never work! Nobody wants those tiny action figures! What is Hasbro doing? They don't even have soft goods like the real 12" line G.I.Joes do! #NotMyGIJoe WWF Hasbro figures (1990) LJNfan1000: Hasbro getting the WWF license is the worst thing that has ever happened! The LJN figures were so much better! Those Hasbro ones have wrong proportions, too much articulations, and look like children's toys! Give us our big non-articulated rubber figures back! Star Wars: The Power of the Force (1995) DarthCollector4ever: Is Kenner out of their GODD$#*N mind? We waited for so long for THIS? Jacked up figures with terrible likeness? Congrats on your new peg warmers, Kenner! Those figures are never gonna sell! They are successfully KILLING the Star Wars toy line! smh What other toys, brands or events from the past would give us great comments? Let us know... in the comments! More news at 11:00... Well, that was interesting. Let's never do that again! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  5. A few weeks ago, it was revealed that movie studios could now be sued over misleading movie trailers. This came after fans sued a movie studio over an actress (Ana de Armas) not appearing in a movie (Yesterday) while she was present in the trailer, but we all remember the Captain America: Civil War trailer minus Spider-man, or the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer with the Lizard getting punched by the wind, right? Well, it didn't take long for this to seep into our favorite hobby, as toy collectors might soon be able to sue toy companies over misleading promo pictures. ToyFarce interviewed the same judge that ruled the lawsuit about the movie trailers: "The toy companies are correct that promotional pictures involve some creativity and editorial discretion, but this creativity does not outweigh the commercial nature of a promotional picture" the judge said. “At its core, a promo pic is an advertisement designed to sell an action figure by providing consumers with a preview of said figure.” "Even with the warnings at the bottom, such as 'Prototype/digital render shown, final product may vary', if the final product does not look at all like the ones from the promotional pictures, toy collectors should be able to get compensation for the deception." More news at 11:00... It shouldn't take long before reviewers could also be sued over misleading toy reviews... *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  6. Target Exclusive, Walmart Exclusive, Amazon Exclusive,... Those words are usually annoying for collectors, because it means the items will be more difficult to get. But what if one day, while browsing through the toy aisle in your local Target, you could find a Walmart Exclusive figure right there, ready to be picked? That is what an unsung hero, who wants to be known as "The Exclusive Slayer" is trying to do. ToyFarce investigated... It all started a while ago, when Erik, a collector from New Jersey, found a Target Exclusive WWE Ultimate Edition Batista... at Walmart. Since then, ToyFarce received several reports of collectors finding Exclusives in other stores than the one they were supposed to be at. Complete cases even. We proceeded to investigate (because we are professional journalists): A Target Exclusive WWE Ultimate found at a Walmart... An Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends figure found at Target... A Walmart Exclusive Holiday Star Wars: The Black Series figures found at Gamestop... This was not a coincidence. After several months of research, studying camera footage, we found out it was the work of one person. "Hunting for exclusives is not fun for collectors, so I decided to step up and help." said the Exclusive Slayer. "At first, I would just grab one figure here and there, and return them to another store. If the figures couldn't be scanned, I'd just swap the barcode to one that would work. Now, it's a bigger operation, all over the country. We add the figures in their system so that they can be returned. Sometimes, I like to go on the roof of one of the stores where I just did my job, so that I can see the smile on the face of the collector that found it, on their way out." More news at 11:00... He's a silent shopper, a watchful swapper. An Exclusive Slayer. *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  7. A lot of MISB collectors are proud of their action figure collections, kept in pristine condition inside their original packaging. We've also heard of collectors who consider their action figures incomplete if they do not come with their original shipper boxes. But none of them can hold a candle to Michael, a collector who took the 'Sealed' in 'Mint in Sealed Box' very seriously, and collects his toys... in their original shipping containers. "I used to collect the action figures in their boxes, but too often, the packaging would arrive damaged, or the blister card would not be unpunched, and there was no way to make sure the packaging would be in perfect condition", said Michael, the world's only mint in container collector. "Then, I started to collect them in their original brown shipper boxes, but even then, we cannot trust the postal services to deliver a box in perfect condition. I got tired of getting boxes with damaged corners, so I decided to go one step further, and acquire the shipping containers directly." "Sure, sometimes, there are scratches or marks on the outside of the container, but at least, I have the certitude that the action figures inside are "100% case-fresh" and have never been touched or exposed to another human being. The collection does take a lot of space now, but I am renting an entire area of the port in my city in order to display it. It's the only real way to have a MISB collection." More news at 11:00... I had another shipping container joke, but it hasn't arrived yet... *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  8. What was thought to be army-building at first, turned out to be human error as a Canadian collector who will remain anonymous admitted to ToyFarce that he had pre-ordered 4 times the same Hot Toys Ahsoka Tano figure by mistake! Inspired by true events. "It all started with the announcement." recalls the collector. "I was very excited so I knew that the second the pre-orders would open, I would need to jump on it. And I did!". Within seconds after the pre-order went online, the order was placed, nearly mechanically, before moving on with his day. "I went to work, had a really long, busy day, so when I came home and saw an email about the figure now being available for pre-order, I kinda forgot I had already grabbed it, so i just added it to my cart and proceeded with the checkout." That was number 2. "With most websites letting you pre-order items without paying up front, it is fairly easy to add one too many in your orders. A few days later, I was out with my friends, and saw some new pictures of the figure all over my feed. The figure was trending again. I had had a few beverages, so I immediately thought 'I need this!' and just ordered (my third) one." But wait, there is more! "Then, weeks later, I got an email from my usual store warning fans to order that figure, as they were close to selling out their future stocks. There was no way I could miss out on this, right?... So i ordered it again..." "I noticed it a few weeks later, when I was checking my account to see the status of another order, and saw that there were FOUR orders within a short period of time, so I called them to cancel the extra 3. It's all sorted out now, but it was a very embarrassing phone call." Have you ever ordered extras by accident? Let us know in the comments! More news at 11:00... Wait, did I order that one?
  9. It was a quiet Thursday when the unthinkable happened: Vincent, a collector who had pre-ordered some figures from the Marvel Legends Thor: Love and Thunder wave, stumbled upon those same figures at the superstore while doing groceries... and BOUGHT THEM! ToyFarce investigated. "I do that a lot, actually! Most of the time, I pre-order the figures as a backup plan more than anything. Then, if I happen to find them in store before I got them from the pre-order, I just cancel my online order, and buy them at the store." Vincent said. "Sometimes, I also forget if I pre-ordered them already or not, so I just grab them, and then, when I get home, I check my emails to see if I had picked it up or not. If I did, I just cancel it. If they have already sent them, I'll just scalp...I mean help other members of the community later, when they have more value." More news at 11:00... wait, did i pre-order that? *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  10. Are you sometimes confused by the terms used in a conversation about toys, or in the title of an item on ebay? Worry not, we've got you covered! Toy collecting can sometimes be overwhelming, and we will try to give you all the tools so that you don't ever have to worry about looking clueless while discussing toys with strangers on the internet or at a convention! You're welcome! This first part will cover the basics, and the terms covering the condition of a toy. ACTION FIGURE: The coolest thing on the planet. The thing we all love the most. Wikipedia says "a poseable character toy figurine made most commonly of plastic, and often based upon characters from a film, comic book, military, video game or television program; fictional or historical". DOLL: The opposite of an action figure. They're not dolls, they're action figures, dad! Action figures are not dolls, but sometimes, dolls can be action figures. There is a grey area... Rule of thumb: If you can brush its hair, it's probably a doll. LOOSE: When talking about the condition of an action figure, saying that it is loose means, like for a person, that it has been around. You will not be its first. MINT / M.O.C. (Mint on card): Evokes the freshness of mint, so basically, your action figure is very fresh, still in its packaging. Probably smells nice and tastes delicious too! M.I.B.: Unfortunately nothing to do with Agent J, Agent K or aliens, M.I.B. is a variation of M.O.C., but for items that come in a box rather than a card: Mint in Box. CASE-FRESH: The figure is brand new still inside the case (cardboard shipper box) and you will be the first person to touch it, as it has never been displayed outside. If you want to go one step further, you'd have to get your items 'container-fresh', where you would be the first person to touch the case from the container. UNPUNCHED: Nobody has punched the figure (who would do such a thing?), so it's still in pristine condition, with his little cardboard 'chad' still intact (the little cardboard piece that covers the hole where the peg goes). Talking about pegs... PEG-WARMER: A peg-warmer is a figure that nobody really wants, so it stays behind in the stores to warm the pegs, who sometimes get really cold during the winter month. A peg-warmer will sometime offer a blanket and hot cocoa to the peg. What terms would you like to see in the next part? Let us know in the comments! More news at 11:00... part 1! *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  11. Collection Room Tour videos. If you follow any channels related to toys on Youtube, you'll certainly come across a Collection Room tour video at some point. Those are videos that you would usually skip through, just to see the good stuff, but would probably not watch the entire 25, 30 or 40 minutes of it, where your favorite toy youtuber would go to great length to give you the backstory behind every shelf from their display. But who started that whole thing? ToyFarce investigated... It turns out it was a follower, Nicolas G., who was the first one to ask to one of his favorite Youtubers, back in the early days of Youtube, if we could see what the entire collection looks like: "I've always been a fan of MTV Cribs. I would marathon entire seasons of the show, and I just love to see the inside of other people's houses. Not even for inspiration, just pure curiosity. So I asked if we could see the collection room in the comments of one of the early videos of a toy reviewer, and now, it's gone completely out of hand. There are now several thousands of videos on Youtube. People are posting videos called " MY INCREDIBLE, WONDERFUL COLLECTION ROOM TOUR", they'd switch around 3 figures, or buy 1 new toy, and post another video a week later called "UPDATE ON MY UNBELIEVABLE, MAGNIFICENT COLLECTION ROOM TOUR"... I'm so sorry I started this." More news at 11:00... Do you guys wanna see our Collection Room? :D
