  1. McFarlane Toys has announced a new vehicle for their 7" scale DC Multiverse line. It's the Batcycle based on the Dark Nights: Death Metal storyline. Look for it to be released in January 2021.
  2. Step into our time machine as we take a look back at what possibly could have been. Long time Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe collectors are likely familiar with the name David Vonner. Originally working on the Marvel Legends line at Toy Biz, he moved over to Hasbro when the license changed hands and continued his work there. Eventually after having a successful stint on the 3.75" Marvel Universe line, David left Hasbro and went to work for Mattel in 2016. At that time, many including myself assumed he would begin working on Mattel's own ongoing 6" and 3.75" superhero line DC Multiverse. Instead he became a Design Manger for their WWE brand, which is the line he has worked on ever since. Of course as most know, Mattel eventually lost the DC license to the likes of Spin Master and McFarlane Toys last year. While Mattel's tenure with the DC license had it's up down, I think it's fairly safe to say that it never quit reached the heights of popularity that Marvel Legends has experienced. Many collectors including myself longed for a day when we would see articulation similar to Marvel Legends on a 6" DC Comics action figure, but alas that day never really came. Well as it turns out that during Dave's time at Mattel, he actually did some work on a Batman figure, which he has now chosen to reveal to the world. It's not entirely clear why Mattel never choose to move forward with this figure or why David was never put onto the DC Multiverse team back when they had the license, a story perhaps we will hear one day. I won't pretend to speak for the entire collector community, but I will say this is a Batman figure I personally would have liked to seen released. The Bruce Wayne head and pulled back cowl is one of the best I have ever seen on a action figure of this scale. Let us know your own thoughts about this figure in the COMMENTS SECTION below.
  3. It may not soar to Gotham city, but the LEGO Group’s latest release with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC, the LEGO DC BATMAN 1989 Batwing, is sure to transport fans to their most memorable DC Super Hero moments this Batman Day. Fans of Batman and avid builders are in for some serious fun as they embark on their journey to construct the ultimate Super Hero vehicle in the LEGO DC BATMAN collection. The new LEGO 1989 Batwing draws upon the design seen in Tim Burton’s iconic 1989 BATMAN film, using the smooth lines and features from the original model to bring an impressive gothic elegance to any LEGO collection. DC and LEGO fans alike can indulge in their passion for the Caped Crusader as they explore all the delightful features of this new set, including a full interior, removable canopy and posable aerodynamic flaps. To add to the excitement, the construction kit is also dotted with Easter eggs to surprise builders, such as a screen featuring The Joker’s gas balloons and a ‘Bat Engine’ label on the vehicle’s engine – helping to truly transport builders back to 1989 and into the BATMAN universe. Once completed, the 2,363-piece set is a real showstopper, measuring over 4” (11cm) high, 20” (52cm) long and 22” (58cm) wide. The construction set also features a special brick which allows builders to mount and display their model on the wall for added impact, making the LEGO DC BATMAN 1989 set a wonderful addition to a Batman lover’s LEGO collection, joining the previously released LEGO DC BATMAN 1989 Batmobile to make a dark and dramatic display in any home. Speaking about the details of the new set, LEGO Creative lead Jesper C. Nielsen said: The emblematic set truly takes fans on a journey, as they immerse themselves into Gotham city and get hands-on with the set, using Batman, The Joker and Boombox goon minifigures to relive their favourite moments from the film. Fans can even create the infamous scene when The Joker barges in on the Dark Knight and utters his classic words “have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?”. The new LEGO 1989 Batwing construction set is the latest example of how the LEGO Group aims to inspire builders of all ages to build, rebuild and get excited by the process of creation. A complex and rewarding build, the LEGO 1989 Batwing construction set allows builders to relax as they escape from the real world and enter the Batman universe. Designed for those aged 18+, the new set will also feature the new stylish packaging designed to reflect the sophisticated nature of the creative process. All new products in the LEGO Group’s ranges that appeal to adults will now feature the sleek, minimalistic new design across related packaging, building instructions, exclusive content and in-store and online store design. LEGO 1989 Batwing will be available for LEGO VIP members from 21st October and for remaining LEGO fans from 1st November, directly via LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.
  4. If you have been looking for an affordable Batmobile that your 7" DC Multiverse Batman figures from McFarlane Toys can drive around in, then Spin Master might just have what you need. Thanks to a heads up by Adrian, we present you this new Batmobile which technically is listed for 12" figures, but you can see from images Adrian took that it works good with 7" figures as well. The best part is that this Batmobile only costs $22 which is available on Amazon now. UPDATE: The one listed on Amazon is apparently shipping right now from AmazonUK so it does have a hefty shipping cost currently. Being this is made by Spin Master, we imagine it will see an actual US release eventually. If we get any more details on this we will be sure to update you here.
  5. Last week we told you how it looked like McFarlane Toys was going to be releasing a wave of 7" DC Multiverse figures that included figures of DC Metals The Drowned, Red Sun Superman and Damien Robin. We saw the prototype for The Drowned figure revealed by Todd McFarlane during the DC Fandome event. Well now thanks to more overseas etailer listings we have word of another wave which will feature a Build-A-Figure. Now I know this may shock you but it's another Batman themed wave. This one is said to be based on the 2019 Batman: The Last Knight On Earth DC Comics storyline which was written by Scott Snyder and had artwork from Jonathan Glapion and Greg Capullo. The wave which is listed with a January 2021 release date is said to include figures from the storyline of Batman, Wonder Woman, Omega and Scarecrow. The Build-A-Figure will be of Bane which will likely go nicely with the Scarecrow figure. Of course until the folks at McFarlane Toys officially confirm this we will treat this info as RUMOR for now.

  7. This one combines two of Todd's favorite things, Batman and repaint variants. It's the new DC Multiverse Target exclusive White Knight Red Variant Batman figure that will be released in March 2021. Now you might be asking why would they do Batman in red? Well I can only speculate, but as best I can tell this is meant to be some kind of nod to the coloring used in the comics. If you have read the White Knight story, you might have noticed a lot of the artwork was done with a red like tint to it. If that's not it then maybe they ran out of bronze paint???

  10. Todd McFarlane, one of the most iconic comic book artists of the late 20th century, has unveiled a brand-new DC Multiverse Batman action figure designed, created and produced by McFarlane and his award-winning McFarlane Toys company. This new Batman action figure is inspired from the mind of Todd McFarlane. McFarlane has created a new never-before-seen before version of Batman’s costume. It features a Black Cape and Cowl, comes with two swords, a base, and includes a collectible art card with Todd McFarlane's Batman artwork on front and character biography on the back. The incredibly detailed 7-inch scale figure is designed with McFarlane Toys' signature "Ultra Articulation" with up to 22 moving parts for a full range of posing and play. In the 1980s, Todd McFarlane began drawing Batman professionally, working on the classic storyline "Batman: Year Two™" in Detective Comics™, and creating iconic artwork, including his dynamic cover for Batman #423. Todd went on to become a titan of the comic book industry but has always had an affinity for Batman. "Batman has always been my favorite character- excluding Spawn," said McFarlane, creative force and CEO of McFarlane Toys. "I've always liked the fact that Batman has no superpowers. When it comes down to it, he's just a dude in a costume trying to combat evil. Conceivably, if Batman were in a huge battle in space, without any of his gadgets and tech, he could potentially die, unlike Superman™. I've always had an affinity for Batman, and it’s an honor to design a brand new version of a Batman figure for all fans and collectors." McFarlane Toys is also bringing collectors and fans a brand-new collector program. With the launch of the new Batman figure by Todd McFarlane, McFarlane Toys has announced its new McFarlane Gold Label Collection Series that will feature characters from your favorite pop-culture and entertainment brands. It was said that the suit was build by Bruce Wayne, but which one? The other day it was reported that both Ben Affleck will be back to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne from the Justice League as well as Michael Keaton’s Batman from the 1989 Tim Burton films. Check out the concept art below.
  14. I decided to sculpt and create my own original interpretation of a batman cowl to fit the perfect 1/12 scale Batman, the new Mafex Batman Hush figure. There was a ton of inspiration for the style, including many of the statue cowl sculpts by sideshow collectibles, mezco, and the arkham origins cowl. I modeled the original head sculpt in a 3D modeling program, including a a properly sized ball socket that fits on the stock neck peg. No sticky tack required to place this head on! It maintains its original range of motion. You can find more of my work at Danscustomsca on Instagram, or here https://www.instagram.com/danscustomsca. Thanks guys!
