  3. Never trust a snake! Mattel is back with the WWE Mattel Elite Wal-Mart exclusive Flashback Series Jake the Snake Roberts. This set has been the hardest to find for most figure collectors in recent years. Distribution issues appear to have made this figure along with Harley Race, Steve Austin, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, and Jake Roberts some of the most sought after action figures. I can certainly see why there was a ton of hype for this set. When you collect all four figures, you get several build a figure parts to make an elite commissioner Shawn Michaels. With this particular release of Jake, he comes decked out from his 90's gear from the King of the Ring tournament where Austin 3:16 was born! Roberts had to endure a long hard night of battling several other superstars to eventually make it to the finals and faced off with Stone Cold Steve Austin. The gear is exactly how I remember it from back then. The colors pop on this figure and makes it stand out on any display amongst your other figures! With any elite you get additional articulation that basic figures do not receive. You can articulate the head, mid torso, waist, wrist, shoulder, arms, knees, and ankles. The figure comes with a snake skin design vest that is non removable. His tights has the design of his beloved snake at the time, "Revelations" The boots are the taller mold that also have the snake skin imprint on them as well. His face has that classic sinister grin that Mattel captured perfectly. Mattel went even as far to put chest hair peeking through his vest. You also receive the rubber Revelations snake as an added bonus. You will also receive the legs of the build a figure commissioner Shawn Michaels. I rate the figure a 9/10 A minor nitpick would be adding his snake bag to complete the look. But I would not change a thing about the actual details of the figure itself! Grab this figure while you can, before its gone for good!
  4. I love when a toy company makes figures most people may not realize they want or need. That is the story of today's review as we look at WWE Elite Bob Backlund. We want to extend our thanks to Mattel for the review sample. The packaging is the standard Elite box that we already know what to expect from Mattel, showing the figure within and an image of WWE Hall of Famer Bob Backlund in the upper right corner. Taking the figure out of the package, he comes packed with a championship belt and has a real cloth robe and towel around his neck. The toy looks like Backlund, not so much how he looked at his height of popularity, but close enough. The Mattel scan technology has really improved over time. The figure retains all the points of articulation that is expected from the Elite collection. Head turns. Shoulders, elbow, and wrist all move freely and the inclusion of extra hands are always a nice addition to any figure. There's ab crunch, waist turn, hip joints, double knee joints, boot cuts and ankle articulation as well. Overall, the figure has a wide range of movement. His title belt is the stuff of legends and it looks absolutely perfect. If you are not a wrestling fan, then there is no way that I can convince you why you need to own a Bob Backlund figure. His contribution to wrestling as one of the pre-modern era baby faces won't sway you. But if you are a fan and know your history, then you know why adding Bob Backlund to your figure collection is a must! Overall, he is a 3 out of 5 Thank you again to Mattel for the sample. 5. Well, WWE Universe action figure completists, it's "time to face the facts." WWE's very own undisputed loser, Curt Hawkins, makes his Elite figure debut with two different ring gear colors. Trained by ECW original Mikey Whipwreck, Curt Hawkins made his wrestling debut in 2004 and has been an active wrestler ever since. We want to extend our thanks to Mattel for these review samples.Mattel has graced us with not just one, but two Curt Hawkins Elite figures. Honestly, it took me a few minutes to even notice that they were in fact different. With one just having black pants instead of blue. The repaint seems a bit unnecessary, but sometimes being a completist is a dangerous slope. I don't feel this "chase figure" is required. His New York Mets color inspiration is what you would normally see him wearing. The packaging is the standard Elite fair that we come to expect from Mattel, showing the figure within and an image of Curt Hawkins in the upper right corner.Taking the figure out of the package, he comes packed with two extra hands and a large WWE Raw breakaway sign, which is an awesome prop to throw the fact bringer through, as well as his cane/walking stick. The sign has two leg rests that support it upright so toys can be thrown through it. Since Hawkins is a lover of old school ECW, having packed with a breakaway sign really harkens back to the hardcore days. The toy itself looks exactly like Hawkins. That shouldn't be a surprise as the Elite series has amazing face scans. The figure retains all the points of articulation you have come to expect from the Elite collection. Head turns, shoulders, elbow, and wrist all move freely and the inclusion of extra hands are a nice addition to the figure since he does come with a "weapon" he can hold. There's ab crunch, waist turn, hip joints, double knee joints, boot cuts and ankle articulation as well. Overall, the figure has a wide range of movement, which is to be expected, but not technically needed, for the undefeated loser. If you are not a wrestling fan, I don't know how I can recommend this figure since Hawkins is a guy who has almost lost his place over the past few years. His current position is almost as a joke, which devalues young fans from wanting to own him. But, if you are a wrestling fan, this figure works with other figures in your 6 inch collection. Overall, he is a 2 out of 5.Thank you again to Mattel for the samples.Don't forget to leave us a comment and tell us what you think.Follow Rob on Instagram @alternativemindz and on Twitter @altmindz.
