Deadline is reporting that Doctor Sleep filmmaker Mike Flanagan and his Intrepid Pictures partner Trevor Macy had a meeting with DC Bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran to pitch a feature version of the DC supervillain Clayface. No word if the studio has given the green light or if the studio said 'No,' but if the studio agrees to the project then Clayface wouldn’t be a bad guy. Sources are stating that Clayface is an addition to Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2, and it waits to be seen if Clayface has any connection between The Batman 2 and Gunn and Safran’s feature and series sprawling DC’s Gods and Monsters – Chapter One. The character was introduced as part of Detective Comics #40 in June of 1940. The original Clayface was a moderately successful actor who adopted the identity of a character he’d portrayed in a horror pic after turning to crime. He’s a frequent adversary of Batman with a body seemingly made out of clay who has appeared over the years in numerous types of Batman media. Clayface materialized again in the 1970s, which evolved the character into a scientist with hormone irregularities.

Warner Bros. Discovery has meticulously remastered Max Fleischer’s treasured set of 17 animated Superman shorts from the original 35mm source elements. Max Fleischer’s Superman 1941-1943 will be available to purchase Digitally on HD and on Blu-ray on May 16, 2023. Superman made his comic book debut in 1938, appearing in Action Comics #1 (dated June 1938, but officially published on April 18, 1938), and the Man of Steel’s popularity grew with his subsequent radio program. Max Fleischer gave the world’s first Super Hero his initial animated spotlight, producing 17 theatrical animated shorts from September 1941 to July 1943 that further elevated the character’s profile, and added many significant aspects to his canon – including coining many of Superman’s patented catchphrases and attributes. Warner Bros. Discovery’s advanced remastering process began with a 4K, 16-bit scan of Fleischer’s original 35mm successive exposure negative. Staying true to the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.37-to-1, the highest quality raw image was then scanned and then entered into the recombine process – utilizing special proprietary software to merge the successive exposure Technicolor negatives into a single RGB color image. The end result is pristine animated shorts that have been restored to the animators’ originally intended production quality. Well-known radio actors Clayton “Bud” Collyer and Joan Alexander reprised their famed The Adventures of Superman radio show roles for the Fleischer/Famous Studios animated shorts as Superman/ Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively. Jackson Beck provided the voice of Perry White and the show’s primary narrator. Additional voices, many of whom had participated in the Superman radio program, were provided by Jack Mercer, Grant Richards, Julian Noa, Lee Royce, Max Smith, Sam Parker, and Carl Meyer. Max Fleischer’s Superman 1941-1943 will be available on May 16, 2023, to purchase Digitally in HD from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu, and more, and on Blu-ray at major retailers both online and in-store. Warner Bros. is moving The Flash movie up a week to June 16th, Father's Day weekend. The studio decided on the movie after all the testing results have been through the roof, with one non-studio observer telling sources "the DC title is “Spider-Man: No Way Home good” with its multiverse plotlines and Batman cameos by Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck." There has been some talk if the movie would make theaters or head directly to HBO Max after all the legal trouble Ezra Miller has been getting into, but Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav has said that the DC title will remain theatrical. Miller reportedly has met with new Warner Bros. film chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy and issued a public apology for behavior. Source: Deadline

Variety has confirmed that Angel Manuel Soto has signed on to direct ''Blue Beetle' for Warner Bros.’ DC Films division. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is penning the screenplay with Zev Foreman executive producing. Blue Beetle first appeared as a Fox Comics character in 1939 from creator Charles Wojtkowski. The character went through different companies before landing back at DC in the 1980s. The Blue Beetle project will focus on the most recent version of Blue Beetle introduced in 2006 as a Mexican-American teenager named Jaime Reyes. His powers come from a mysterious scarab that binds to Reyes’ spine and provides him with a powerful suit of blue alien armor that can also equip him with bespoke weapons and wings. Soto is credited with directing “La Granja” (“The Farm”), “Charm City Kings” and “12 O’Clock Boys.” Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer wrote “Miss Bala” and an earlier draft of Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming remake of “Scarface."

Sources from within have informed Variety that Director Lana Wachowski met with various actors over the last week and has chosen 'Aquaman' star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as one of the lead roles in the latest installment in the 'Matrix' franchise. Abdul-Mateen emerged as the frontrunner to join Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who will be reprising their roles in the film. Warner Bros. announced back in August that a fourth 'Matrix' movie is officially in the works, with Reeves and Moss returning and Wachowski on board to direct and write the script with write Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. Wachowski is producing with Grant Hill, Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, who will globally distribute the film. The film is expected to begin production at the beginning of 2020. Plot details are currently unknown and while it was rumored a young Morpheus could appear in the movie, sources close to the film would not confirm Abdul-Mateen’s specific role.

Are movie studios starting to shy away from the San Diego Comic-Con? The question comes to mind as Deadline is reporting that movie studios such as Sony, Universal, Warner Bros. DC film studio and Lionsgate will not be attending the convention. Studios currently set to be attending are Disney/Marvel, Paramount and New Line. No reason for Universal, Warner Bros DC film studio or Lionsgate to not be attending but Sony does have their hands full with Spider-Man: Far From Opening opening next week and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood upcoming on July 26th. Their promo teams have events set up for the whole year with Zombieland 2: Double Tap (October 18th), Charlie’s Angels (November 15th), The Grudge (Janaury 3rd), the comic-book feature adaptation Bloodshot starring Vin Diesel (February 21st), Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island (February 28th) and, farther out, Marvel’s Morbius (July 31st, 2020).

THR is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to do a spinoff from the Aquaman movie and have hired newbie scribes Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to pen a horror-tinged script centered on the Trench, the deadly amphibious creatures seen attacking the hero and his love, Mera, in Aquaman. Details about the plot are being kept secret but it will be set in the kingdom of the Trench and will not feature the main cast of Aquaman.
