The CW’s Tuesday will become even more superpowered when SUPERMAN & LOIS gets a helping hand from their Kryptonian cousin this spring as SUPERGIRL soars onto action, returning to The CW’s schedule to kick off the first part of her sixth and final season on Tuesday, March 30 (9:00-10:00pm ET/PT). The recently renewed freshman hit SUPERMAN & LOIS will go on a brief hiatus from The CW schedule due to a COVID-related production interruption earlier this season. SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC character Kara Zor-El, (Melissa Benoist). Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton and was sent to Earth where she was raised by a foster family. Following its super-powered debut last week across the network's linear and streaming platforms, The CW Network today renewed its new hit series SUPERMAN & LOIS for a second season, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO, The CW Network. "The phenomenal multiplatform debut of SUPERMAN & LOIS, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment," said Pedowitz. "We are thrilled to now have two brand-new bonafide hits in SUPERMAN & LOIS and WALKER, both of which have been renewed for next season along with 11 other of our shows, further positioning us for continued strength and stability for next season." The super-sized 90-minute series premiere of SUPERMAN & LOIS lifted The CW to its best night of primetime in over two years (since 01/29/19). Additionally, the debut of SUPERMAN & LOIS delivered the largest day-one streaming audience for a new series in the history of The CW. The audience for SUPERMAN & LOIS soared higher as delayed viewing was factored in, gaining an additional million viewers (1.7million viewers to 2.7million viewers) on a Live+3 basis, while nearly doubling the live-plus same-day viewership among adults 18-34, growing 93% on an L+3 basis.   15. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that John Wesley Shipp will guest-star in season 2 of The CW's Stargirl. Shipp will be reprising his role as old-school speedster Jay Garrick from The Flash in episode 9. Shipp played the Scarlet Speedster on the 1990 TV series The Flash and his tenure in the Arrowverse began with playing Henry Allen, father of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).
  16. Deadline is reporting that The CW has added Sibongile Mlambo, Alexander Hodge and James Roch to the cast of Painkiller, the Black Lightning spinoff. Painkiller is planned as a planted pilot spinoff that will air as the seventh episode of Black Lightning’s fourth season. Jordan Calloway will reprise his role as the titular character while Black Lightning showrunner Salim Akil will write, executive produce and direct. Mlambo is set to star as Maya, who is described as a “strikingly attractive woman yet is icy and mysterious”. She is a natural leader who immediately gives the impression that she is someone who expects results and is not to be messed around with. Hodge will step into the role of Philky, a “ruggedly handsome with long raven hair, ink art on his body, and one born from a strong Chinese lineage.” The character has had a rough history, who was once a homeless alcoholic from Gotham but now works as an inconspicuous bartender and an exceptionally gifted tech wiz helping Khalil. Roch who will play Cousin Donald, a “larger-than-life, gentle giant who wears a distinct uniform – head-to-toe leather with matching boots – a juxtaposition of his military past.” He was a medic in the Marines and knows medicine well but also has the ability of talking perspective to others. There is a duality about Cousin Donald, which is why he understands Khalil better than others.
  17. The CW Network is developing Wonder Girl, a drama series based on the DC characters created by Joëlle Jones. The series is under production from executive producer/co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez and executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden. Berlanti Productions produces in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series is being written by Rodriguez and centers on Yara Flor, a Latina Dreamer who was born of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, learns that she is Wonder Girl. With her newfound power must fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world.   20. Ava DuVernay and former 'Arrow' writer and executive producer Jill Blankenship are working with The CW in developing a series based on the DC Comics character Naomi. DuVernay and Blankenship are attached to write and executive produce the series. The CW Network today renewed 12 of its current scripted series for the 2021-2022 season, including its new breakout hit WALKER, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO, The CW Network. Additionally, The CW is ordering 5 additional episodes for this season of WALKER, bringing its total episode count for 2020-2021 to 18, and 2 additional episodes of SUPERMAN & LOIS, bringing its total episode count for 2020-2021 to 15.
