  3. The CW announced today that they are moving Naomi to series, but the Black Lightning spinoff Painkiller is not. The Naomi series follows a teenage girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the Multiverse. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes. Kaci Walfall stars as the title character alongside Cranston Johnson, Alexander Wraith, Mary-Charles Jones, Barry Watson, Mouzam Makkar, Daniel Puig, Camila Moreno, Will Meyers and Aidan Gemme. The pilot is being directed and co-executive produced by Amanda Marsalis with the series written and executive produced by Ava DuVernay and Arrow writer/co-executive producer Jill Blankenship. Based on the eponymous comic book series that debuted in 2019, co-written by Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker and illustrated by breakout artist Jamal Campbell, Naomi is produced by DuVernay’s Array Filmworks in association with Warner Bros Television, with Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes also set as executive producers. Black Lightning‘s Jordan Calloway also broke the news to his fans that his Painkiller spinoff will not be moving forward at The CW. “Painkiller will not be going forward, so let’s rip that band-aid off now,” he said. Calloway thanked fans, cast members, supporters, and The CW and WarnerMedia for “affording me the opportunity to even do a spinoff.” The spinoff would have seen Calloway reprise his role as the titular character while Black Lightning showrunner Salim Akil will write, executive produce and direct. Set to join the cast were Sibongile Mlambo, Alexander Hodge and James Roch. The planted pilot spinoff aired as the seventh episode of Black Lightning’s fourth season.
  4. The CW has released a image of Kaci Walfall as DC’s Naomi in the first look at the CW pilot from Ava Duvernay and Jill Blankenship. Naomi is based on the eponymous comic book series that debuted in 2019, co-written by Brian Michael Bendis and David F.   5. According to Variety, Jordan Fisher will be playing the role of Bart Allen, aka Impulse in a recurring guest star on The CW's The Flash. Fisher will be appearing in the series’ 150th episode, which is the 17th episode of Season 7 of the long-running DC superhero drama. Bart is the future son of Barry aka the Flash (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) and is said to be “the fastest teenager on the planet.” However, due to his penchant for “wildly impulsive behavior,” Barry and Iris will have their hands full trying to teach him patience — which will be a necessity if they want to succeed, not only as a family unit, but also in stopping the biggest threat to the Flash yet.

On Saturday, May 15th (12:00-5:30pm ET/PT), TNT will air a special catch-up marathon of the first five episodes of The CW's new hit series SUPERMAN & LOIS starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch. The recently renewed freshman hit returns from a brief hiatus to complete its first season on The CW beginning Tuesday, May 18th (9:00-10:00pm ET/PT).
  13. The CW has released a first look image of Azie Tesfai as The Guardian. The Guardian makes her appearance in the episode titled 'Blind Spots' which is scheduled to air on September 21st, 2021. The episode is co-written by Azie Tesfai with co-producer J. Holtham, and is being directed by Arrow‘s David Ramsey.   20. Deadline is reporting that original cast members, Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes will be leaving the series at the end of Season 7. The CW has already renewed The Flash for Season 8. Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon, will end his run with an appearance in the finale. Cavanagh, who has played Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash as well as the various versions of Harrison Wells, was to leave the series at the end of Season 6 but the season was shortened when the pandemic hit. Cavanagh left after the 3rd episode of Season 7 to wrap up the Season 6 storylines, but he continued on the show as a recurring guest star. Cavanagh and Valdes were two of six remaining original Flash cast members, along with star Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker. Gustin already is contracted for Season 8 while the three have been negotiating new deals to return.

Last year's series premiere of DC'S STARGIRL was The CW's most watched summer debut in 6 years. Season two of DC'S STARGIRL premieres Tuesday, August 10 (8:00-9:00pm ET/PT). The CW drama series DC'S STARGIRL follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) and her stepfather Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) as she leads an unlikely group of young heroes to take on the legacy of DC's very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. In the thrilling second season, Courtney and her friends take on one of the most frightening adversaries in DC's mythology - the dark entity of corruption known as Eclipso. The series focuses on the character that started creator Geoff Johns' career as a comic book writer when he created her in 1999, lovingly inspired by his late sister who was killed in a 1996 plane crash.
