  1. With the reign of Reign ended in last season’s finale, cast and producers of The CW/Warner Bros. Television’s hit drama Supergirl took the stage at the show’s Comic-Con 2018 panel session to reveal that the DC Super Hero series will welcome three new cast members for the upcoming 2018–19 season — including TV’s first transgender superhero. Transgender activist Nicole Maines (Royal Pains, The Trans List, Becoming Nicole book) will join the show in the series regular role of Nia Nal, aka Dreamer. In addition to Maines, Supergirl fans can look forward to the addition of the following new cast members: series regular April Parker Jones (Jericho, The Last Ship) as Colonel Haley and David Ajala (Dr. Who, Nightflyers, The Dark Knight), who will recur as Manchester Black. Nia Nal (Nicole Maines) is the newest addition to the CatCo reporting team. A soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others, Nia’s journey this season means fulfilling her destiny as the superhero Dreamer (much like Kara came into her own as Supergirl). Hardline career military woman Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) lives and dies by the orders of her commanding officers. Dedicated to her country, she always acts in its best interest — even if it’s not her own. Based on the iconic DC character, Manchester Black (David Ajala) is the type of guy who brings a knife to a gunfight and still walks away the winner. With a dark past, he easily deflects the brutality of his mission with his charm and sense of humor. These three cast members join the previously announced new series regulars Jesse Rath (who plays the Legion of Super Heroes’ Brainiac-5) and Sam Witwer (who will play Agent Liberty). Supergirl returns for its fourth season on October 14 in its new Sunday 8/7c time period on The CW. Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. Supergirl is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
  2. This one almost slipped past us but we bring to you the official 2018 San Diego Comic-Con "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" movie poster. Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance. Godzilla: King Of The Monsters starsVera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Sally Hawkins, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch , O'Shea Jackson Jr., Charles Dance, Zhang Ziyi, Ken Watanabe Release: May 31st, 2019
  3. The carefree time travelers of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will welcome two new faces as they set out to hunt temporal Fugitives in the show’s fourth season (Mondays 9/8c The CW this fall). The casting news was announced in the series’ Comic-Con panel session this afternoon. Ramona Young (Blockers, Santa Clarita Diet) joins the cast in the series regular role of Alaska Yu. A typical twentysomething easily swept up by romantic notions and fantasy novels, she’s something of an expert in the world of the magical creatures that the Legends encounter in season four. In the company of the Legends, she soon learns to get her head out of the clouds to become a kickass superhero. Tom Wilson (The Informant, Back to the Future, The Mayor) will recur as Nate’s (Nick Zano) father, Hank Heywood. With a lifetime in the military and Dept. of Defense, Hank is part of a long line of Heywoods to serve the country. Charming and charismatic, he’s left big shoes for Nate to fill — and it doesn’t help that Nate can’t tell him he’s secretly a Legend! These new characters join the previously announced John Constantine (Matt Ryan), Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) and Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford), who will all appear in season four. Based on the characters from DC, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Executive produced by Greg Berlani, Phil Klemmer, Keto Shimizu and Sarah Schechter, the series returns for season four on Monday, October 22, at 9/8c on The CW.
  4. Check out a new extended comic-con trailer for the highly-anticipated "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald," which starts off with a "Riddikulus" flashback look when a young Albus met a younger Newt. The upcoming film, which is the second installment of a five-part original movie series set in J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World, begins with a young Albus Dumbledore (played by Jude Law) asking a favor from one of his prized students. Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) to hunt down an evil Dark wizard named Gellert Grindelwald (played by Johnny Depp). At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world. 5. He may have saved Freeland in season one, but Black Lightning (Cress Williams) is in for a new season of pain when Jordan Calloway returns as DC villain Painkiller in the show's sophomore season! Guest starring as Khalil Payne in season one, Calloway's promotion to series regular was revealed by showrunner/executive producer Salim Akil during Black Lightning's Comic-Con 2018 panel on Saturday, July 21. Khalil Payne was a high school All-American track star with dreams of going to the Olympics until a stray bullet severed his spine, leaving him embittered and unable to walk. Black Lightning's archnemesis Tobias Whale (Marvin "Krondon" Jones III) offers him legs for loyalty. Khalil accepts the offer and receives cybernetic enhancements that transform him into the Painkiller, meta-strong and able to generate an anesthetic from his body that causes temporary paralysis when delivered through darts. Now, he is a living weapon for a ruthless crime boss. Before long, he pines for his old life and dreams, and his teenaged love, Jennifer Pierce (China Anne McClain). Fans at the Black Lightning panel were electrified with the news. Akil said, "I'm thrilled to have Jordan upped as a series regular. He was a great asset to our show in the role of Khalil/Painkiller during season one, and now that he has evolved into Painkiller, I can't wait for you all to see him in season two." The Justice League animated figures will be available exclusively for members of the DC Universe digital subscription service beginning in fall 2018. “Our animated action figures are a staple of DC Collectibles, and we’re so excited to expand the line into the Justice League animated series and add more Batman: The Animated Series characters that fans have been asking for,” said Jim Fletcher, executive creative director of DC Collectibles at DC Entertainment. “As this line continues, we are constantly challenging ourselves to think of new ways to bring the animated series to life. We hope fans enjoy giving their figures a ride on the new Batcycle and recreating their favorite scenes from the show with the intricately detailed display base.” Also in 2019, DC Collectibles will welcome two new popular artists—Joe Ledbetter and Chrissie Zullo— to the DC Artists Alley line. Both artists will bring their unique art style to the DC Universe, re-imagining some of DC’s most iconic characters as 7" designer vinyl figures. Ledbetter, known for his distinct bold lines and vibrant palette, will put his signature spin on Batman, Penguin, Catwoman and Robin. Zullo will debut her dreamy and whimsical transformations of Batgirl, Hawkgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Woman. “I’m a huge Batman fan and to have the opportunity to work with DC Collectibles on a set of Batman characters is a huge deal in my world,” said Ledbetter. “I just love the idea of a bat in a Batman suit, a penguin as the Penguin, etc. There’s something there that’s quite funny and interesting and really excites me. I like to think that these animal Batman characters inhabit a parallel universe where Gotham City is entirely populated by anthropomorphic critters, including the Caped Crusader himself. I think the fun, enthusiasm and love of Batman, Robin, Penguin and Catwoman will shine through on these designer toys and I hope they find a special place on collector’s shelves.” “Working on DC Artists Alley is a total dream come true,” said Zullo. “Not only do I get to work with the great people at DC Collectibles and an incredible sculptor, Irene Matar, but the process of seeing my drawings come to life in 3-D was so much fun and such a great collaborative experience. I knew I wanted my designs to be almost animated, full of life and able to highlight each character's personality traits, while still keeping the designs playful and confident. I think everyone who worked on this project nailed it, and I can't wait for fans to see them in person.” Ledbetter and Zullo’s DC Artists Alley figures will follow the 2018 designer vinyls illustrated by Chris Uminga, HaiNaNu “Nooligan” Saulque and Sho Murase. Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con can pick up the convention exclusive of Uminga’s DC Artists Alley Batman figure in three different variant editions at the Entertainment Earth Booth #2343 or pre-order the figures online here. On tap for 2019, DC Collectibles will release a new Bat-Family Multi-Part Statue featuring Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood. The statue set is designed by the award-winning DC Collectibles design team and includes the same versatile bases as the New Teen Titans Multi-Part Statue set that debuts in August 2018. Fans can display one or a few of their favorite Bat-Family characters independently, or for those wanting to own the whole set, the bases fit perfectly together to create one cohesive image. Batman is the first character to hit shelves in March 2019 and the remaining characters will be released throughout the year. Additional 2019 releases include a Batman: Black & White Batman statue based on the acclaimed BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT artwork by Sean Murphy, new DC Essentials action figures and new character additions to the DC Bombshells and DC Cover Girls statue lines.
