Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Scream 7 will be directed by Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon with Spyglass Media Group producing, and Paramount distributing the next installment of the franchise. The last two Scream movies were directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from Radio Silence who will remain on as executive producers with Chad Villella. The film is in the early stages as it has no writer due to the Writers Guild strike.

Deadline is reporting that while attending a convention circuit, Scream star Neve Campbell announced that she won't be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in Paramount/Spyglass Media’s Scream 6.

The 'Scream Queen' is returning... Deadline is reporting that Neve Campbell will reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in Paramount-Spyglass’ relaunch of Scream. Campbell is returning with previously Scream cast members David Arquette and Courteney Cox as Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers, and new cast members Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of The Radio Silence studio are directing the new Scream movie from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Creator Kevin Williamson and the third member of the Radio Silence trio, Chad Villella, are executive producing with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak serving as producers. Production is planned to shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina for a January. 14th, 2022 theatrical release.

Cox is returning as news reporter Gale Weather and Arquette is coming back as Dewey Riley. The next Scream movie is being helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Shooting will take place in Wilmington, North Carolina under a Spyglass Media Group-Paramount Production. Creator Kevin Williamson and Radio Silence group member Chad Villella, are executive producing with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak serving as producers. The Scream franchise through four movies that began in 1996 have grossed over $600M at the global box office. The late Wes Craven directed all four movies. Williamson wrote the original film as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4.
