  1. NECA has announced this new Christmas In July Gremlins 2-pack which is said to be based on marketing and newspaper ads from 1984. This set will be out later this fall.
  2. NECA today has announced that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie 7" Scale Tokka & Rahzar 2-Pack will no long be sold at Walmart like was originally said. Now the figure will go up for pre-order on NECA's own online store stating this Friday 7/31 to Friday(8/7). Customers in the US and over 20 international countries will have 1 week to place their pre-order. The set will cost $70 and is said to start shipping out in 3 month (November). They will be limited 2 per household and will be done as a made to order item. Which means the pre-order isn't going to sell out during the week it's up. Now once the week is over, that is it. According to NECA this will be the only way to acquire the Tokka & Rahzar 2 Pack! The Deluxe Super Shredder figure will also be available online through NECA's website shortly after the Tokka & Rahzar 2 Pack sale ends. Shredder which will also be available at physical Walmart stores WON'T be done as a pre-order, so it can sell out. They have said that they did significantly increase quantities for both online and physical store sales on Shredder, so hopefully it won't be as hard to find as other stuff. NECA to there credit has also taken steps on their own website to try and slow down the scalper bots. For more details on all this be sure to check out Pixel Dan's recent interview with NECA's Randy Falk. Check out new images for Tokka & Rahzar below.
  3. NECA today rounding out their Comic-Con At Home coverage released a few teaser images for upcoming products so that we might guess what they are. The first tease they posted were some images of weapons. This one seems fairly obvious. Our best guess would be that these weapons are for more 8" Retro figures based on the movie "They Live". The Shotgun looks very much like the one coming with the 8" Cloth Retro Nada figure they have coming out very soon. We are thinking maybe a new 2-pack with a second version of Nada and Frank Armitage. Of course we would love to see NECA do 7" Ultimate figures based on They Live, but the 8" Cloth Retro figures seem more likely. The second tease is obviously some kind of heat vision effect piece. Since NECA has previously done DC Comic based figures, you might think this was a tease for some kind of new Superman figure. Based on conversations I've had with NECA, I don't think any more DC Comic based figures are in the cards for them anytime soon, but there is another super being who is well know for using heat vision. Meet Homelander from the hit Amazon series titled "The Boys". The Boys which basically tells a story about superheroes going rogue will soon see the release of a second on the Amazon streaming service, and has already been renewed for a third season. If you haven't seen season 1, we highly recommend you check it out. So our best guess is that NECA is teasing that they have obtained the license to do figures based on this series and if so, we hope they go the 7" Ultimate route as opposed to the 8" Retro Cloth one.
  4. If you did like the color of the first Kenner based Rhino Alien figure NECA did, they are giving you another chance at the figure with a different paint scheme. Look for it to be released later this year.

Also shown is a first look at their upcoming 7" Ultimate Battle Damaged City Hunter Predator figure which is being released as part of their Predator 2 30th anniversary collection. NECA will be making updates throughout the day for both Predator stuff and Back To The Future. So keep checking back for more updates.
  12. There is no denying that the hobby of action figure collecting is facing a bit of a crisis with scalping these days. More and more, collectors find it difficult to get their hands on the products toy manufacturers are producing at reasonable prices. First, let’s clearly define what a scalper is in the context of this problem. A scalper is someone (or someones) who buy all or most the product they can find at regular retail with the intent of reselling it at a marked up price for profit. The mark up is generally double the original price, although items perceived as high demand sometimes can be marked up even more. eBay is the most common place the scalpers go to resell their stuff. Scalpers have always been around and frankly always will be around as long as perceived demand for an item exceeds supply. However, as toy manufacturers turn more and more to store exclusives and technologies like online bots that allow scalpers to clean out website stock in seconds improve, the scalper problem is only getting worse. So what can be done about it? Seeing toy manufacturers quit giving stores so many exclusives would be nice, but such an expectation in today’s limited retail landscape is seemingly neither practical or realistic. Toy Manufacturers increasingly are beholden to their largest customers, which are the Target’s and Walmart’s of the world, especially when talking about the larger companies like Hasbro. Expecting them to turn their backs on the big box retailers is like expecting someone who has been wandering the desert for days to turn away a canteen filled with water. It would be suicide for them to do it. Seeing the big box retailers implement counter-technology on their websites to prevent the scalper bots from cleaning out inventory or putting in place policies that limit purchase quantities to one or two would be cool, but also is unlikely. First, implementing new website countermeasures means the retailer has to spend money to update the websites. Second, it’s really not in their best interest if something like an exclusive is easy to find. To understand why I say that, you first have to really understand why these stores want the exclusives in the first place. The primary reason for making highly sought items an exclusive is to pull you through their doors. They really don’t care if you find said exclusive. In fact, it’s counter-productive if you find the exclusive on your first trip. If you have to keep coming back to the store multiple times, so much the better. The idea is browsing - once you are in the store, you will buy something. Also, a sale is a sale, whether the buyer is a scalper or a collector. The whole psychological impact of the perception that something is rare and valuable is another bonus for them. In my view, collecting (really anything) taps into the addictive impulses of wanting something others don’t have. The harder-to-get something is perceived the more people want it, hence the increased demand for an item that might not otherwise be there. It’s not really logical, but it is human nature. Now I can’t sit here and tell you retailers are deliberately keeping inventory low on these exclusives so you can’t find them, but you certainly can see the benefit to them if something is harder to find, causing you time and again to come to them for what you seek. So if we can’t really count on the toy manufacturers or the big box retailers to fix the problem, where do we collectors go from here? Well, the answer is simple and difficult all at the same time. As I mentioned before, perceived demand of limited supply will always create profiteers. So the goal is simple. Don’t let them profit. If collectors quit buying toys from scalpers, the scalper will be left with unsold inventory. Like with any retail business, if your inventory doesn’t move then you go out of business. A scalper is only going to scalp something if they think they have a fair chance of reselling that item at a marked up price. If they are not able to sell an item for more than what they paid, they will move on. In fact, if they have to sit on lots of unsold inventory for any significant period of time, eventually they will be forced to discount the stuff just to clear it out. Now the tricky part is getting people to quit buying from scalpers. It sound easy, but it’s not really. No matter how many times you hear people say “don’t feed the scalpers”, there are always those who seem to do just that. Of course, there is no way to force people not to buy from scalpers. So once again, how do we go about fixing the problem? Honestly, I don’t think a silver bullet solution exists, and we will likely never completely fix the problem. But here are a few easy recommendations that may help reduce the problem. 1. First and foremost, remember these are just action figures. If you don’t get it, the world isn’t going to end. Yes, collecting can be an addiction, but don’t let it rule your life. Be willing to walk away if you need to. 2. Remember, you really do have the ultimate power with your wallet. You can’t stop a determined scalper from buying stuff, but if they can’t sell it at a profit they will have no choice but to stop buying it. It’s all about supply and demand, and while we have little control over the supply side of the equation, we do have significant control on the demand side. 3. As collectors we all are in this together - and as with anything, the more united we are, the stronger we are. Don’t let your frustration turn to anger. Look to each other for help in finding stuff. Create networks where you can share information like area reports or even obtain toys for one another at cost. If we make the hobby less about the physical items themselves and more about the relationships and friendships that can be built while collecting these things, it will bring the fun back even if you end up missing out on a figure here or there.
  13. They also issued a statement in regards to recent events with so many people having problems getting their hands on their TMNT products from Target, Walmart and even their own online store. Read on for more:
  14. For what I believe is NECA's final reveal of the day, they released this teaser images for what appears to be a figure set based on the Spinter's origin story in the 90's TMNT movie. The figures are of Splinters master Hamato Yoshi, Oroku Saki (Shredder before he was Shredder) and a rat in a cage named Spliter before he was transformed. You can see a clip from the movie with the scene here: This will likely be a Walmart exclusive but no other details are available at this time.
  15. 18. NECA announced today that they are looking to offer some of their 90's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie 2-packs on their own NECA store website for both US and International customers this Thursday (7/16). Previously they had said these would only be available at physical Walmart stores. Also the first TMNT wave 3 Animated 2-pack to be released at Target stores will be the one with the Casey Jones & Foot Soldier figures. The official release date for both online and physical stores is this Friday (7/17), but we are seeing reports of folks already starting to find them in stores. The release dates for the other 2-packs in wave 3 are 8/6 and 8/20. We don't yet know which set will be released on which date. Here is the place holder link for the Casey and Foot Soldier set: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 7" Scale Action Figure - Cartoon Series 3 Casey Jones & Foot Soldier. The deluxe animated series Metalhead figure is also slated to hit shelves and online this Friday at Target. We do not have a placeholder link for that one to share at this time.

  21. NECA gave a number of updates today on their Twitter account on upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products. Of note they stated the upcoming Walmart exclusive 90's TMNT Movie Turtle 2-packs will not be available on the Walmart website. You will have to go into the physical stores to try and find them. Some have noted that actor Elias Koteas who played Casey Jones in the 90's movies has publicly stated on Twitter that he is now open to having his likeness featured on an action figure. Randy Falk has previously stated that they actually sculpted an unmasked headsculpt for the Casey Jones movie figure featured in the current two pack, but could not use it due to likeness rights. NECA today acknowledged that they were aware of Koteas change of heart about the use of his likeness, but a deal between the two parties had yet to be struck. They are hopeful it will happen and that we could see a unmasked figure released at some point. Doesn't look like there will be any NYCC exclusives offered this year, especially if the convention is canceled. For the wave 3 Target Exclusive 2-packs. It looks like they won't be releasing all three two packs at the same time. Previously NECA had given three different release dates for wave 3 (7/16, 8/6, 8/20), and it looks like they will be staggering the release of the three 2-packs in the wave during those dates for both online and in store. The video game based versions of the Rock Soldiers are in question. NECA stated their fate is to be determined and they will be releasing the comic versions first. The 2020 TMNT SDCC Exclusive set announced earlier today will only be made available here in the US on the Target website and physical stores. NECA's other SDCC exclusives for this year will be sold at Walmart stores and on the NECA website. They plan to release links to the Target website for the TMNT SDCC exclusive set the day they go on sale. The Raph/Casey 2-packs are still shipping to Walmart stores and they haven't even released half of their inventory yet. Some of the other TMNT Walmart 2-packs MAY have their online orders handled by NECA directly. They are working on hammering out those details and things have yet to be determined. NECA also gave a cryptic answer about how the Tokka & Rahza 2-Pack might be released. An announcement for the release of their Toon based diorama seen at Toy Fair is expected to be made during their online SDCC reveals. NECA stated we could possibly see more Mirage based TMNT figures in the future.
  22. NECA has stated that they would officially start revealing details about this years San Diego Comic Con exclusives next week starting on Tuesday (7/7), but it looks like one of them has already started to see a release at Walmart. Over at the NECA Fan Group Facebook page images have surfaced that gives us a heads up about one of them which appears to be Gremlins based. It's said this figure was found on the shelves at Walmart. In an interview back in May, Randy Falk said NECA would be offering 4 exclusives this year, one of which would be TMNT based. He also said that the exclusives this year would be offered online and at brick and mortar stores like Target and Walmart, since the actual SDCC convention was canceled this year. Last week NECA posted a release schedule for upcoming TMNT products at Walmart and Target stores. With that, they listed two TMNT SDCC Excluive items coming to Target stores. -Exclusive Figure Boxed Set - 7/23 -Exclusive Merchandise Bundle - 7/23 Stay-tuned for more details next week on these and whatever else NECA has planned for Comic-Con exclusives this year.
  23. After last week's debacle with their Walmart exclusive TMNT Movie Casey Jones and Raphael In Disguise 2-pack sale, NECA has said they have heard the feedback from you and are actively working to improve things. Expect news in the coming weeks regarding our SDCC offerings and future TMNT availability online. They have also put out this phase 1 release schedule for both their TMNT Target and Walmart products for in stores and online. Cartoon Target Exclusive -Wave 3 - 7/16, 8/6, 8/20 -Metalhead - 7/16 -Bebop And Rocksteady Restock - 9/3 SDCC Exclusive Items (Target Exclusive) -Exclusive Figure Boxed Set - 7/23 -Exclusive Merchandise Bundle - 7/23 Movie Walmart Exclusive -Casey & Raphel In Disq - 6/29 -Leonardo/Donatello - 7/6 -Michelangelo and Raphael - 7/6 -Super Shredder - 8/10 Arcade (Specialty Exclusives) -Wave 2 - 7/14 While it's nice to have these release dates, the real fix for the problems collectors have had finding these items, is making sure the stores are stocking them in sufficient enough numbers. If the product is made readily available, then the scalpers won't buy them all up to try and resale them on the secondary market, because the demand will no longer be there for that. In other words they have to start shipping enough so they don't sell out in seconds, or require someone having to be there the moment they are put on shelves in order to get them. As much as we hope NECA is successful in accomplishing that, at this point we will believe it when we see it.
