  1. Mattel's new Masters of the Universe Origins line while seemingly widely liked by collectors has also been a source of frustration for many. The line started seeing release at the beginning of the year, but only at Walmart stores. Of course in typical Walmart fashion, many stores got little to no stock for these figures and carried in very low numbers online. Suffice to say, finding the figures to actually be able to buy up until this point has been challenging to say the least. Originally it was said by Mattel that Walmart would have exclusive first dibs on the line for one year, but we are starting to see indications that November is when everyone will be able to start carrying the line. Our first indication came the other day when we told you how a Florida based online distributor had started listing new Masters of the Universe Origins products including listings for a unannounced Masters of the Universe Origins Castle Grayskull playset which had a November release date listed. Then yesterday we began hearing reports of Masters of the Universe Origins products showing up in the Target computer system which included that Castle Grayskull playset showing a $75 price point. Now Amazon.com has started taking pre-orders for Masters of the Universe Origins figures with a November 15 release date. Man-At-Arms Evil-Lynn Teela Scare-Glow Man-E-Faces Orko - Is being sold by the Amazon Global Store right now Beast Man And my guess more will be showing up there soon.
  2. We will keep this one firmly in the rumor category for now, but listings from an online distributor have shown up listing both a Castle Grayskull playset as well as a Moss Man figure for Mattel's Masters of the Universe Origins line. The other things listed were items revealed back in August during Mattel's Power-Con at home panel. The Castle Grayskull playset is listed with a 11/20 date and Moss Man with a 9/20 date. Moss Man is also listed as being for Power-Con which is odd. Not sure if those are supposed to be releases dates, but that seems unlikely to see these items on shelves that soon. Any items released this year for MOTU Origins would be released as Walmart exclusives here in the US. Again for now, I would take this one with a BIG grain of salt until we hear something more reliable. Thanks to Adam for the heads up. UPDATE: An image has surfaced via ENDZEIT for what is said to be the inside of Origins Grayskull playset along with a Sorceress figure. At this time we cannot confirm the legitimacy of this image.
  3. Howdy folks Today I take a look at Mattel's Masters of the Universe: Origins He-Man.
  4. This morning I was checking the Walmart website to see if by some of chance they had any of Mattel's new Masters of the Universe Origins figures actually in stock. After all the official release date for these toys was August 1st, and at least for now Walmart is the only place to get them. As usual, all the figures were listed as SOLD OUT until I came upon the Masters of the Universe Origins Teela figure. To my surprise Teela was showing as being available for purchase. Then I noticed the price. Instead of being listed with the normal $14.99 price these figures are supposed to cost, Walmart has Teela listed with a WHOPPING price of $36.00. That is more than double of what she should cost. At first I thought perhaps this was from a second-party seller you sometimes see on these big-box retail sites, which I might note are very annoying in their own right. When it's a second party seller however it is generally indicated somewhere on the page as such. Not here. There is even the option of having it sent to a physical Walmart store for pick-up which I don't believe is offered when its a second-party seller. So what exactly is going on here? Has Walmart taken product they have essentially released in limited numbers, hence creating an artificially inflated demand for them, and now trying to take advantage of that by gouging collectors who can't find these figures anywhere else??? That is certainly what appears to be happening. It's bad enough when we collectors have to deal with scalpers with this kind of thing, but this is taking it to a whole new level. Hopefully once word of this comes to light someone at Walmart will fix this, probably say it was just listed in error, but regardless this is just another example of what collectors are having to deal with on a regular basis simply to buy products that really shouldn't be the difficult to get.
  5. A Power-Con online event is coming this weekend, August 8th & 9th! This free online event will have two features. The first is a Grayskull Treasure Room. This is an online room that you can explore to find images of and videos about upcoming Masters of the Universe product, along with some teasers and new reveals. The second is our online panel room. Using Zoom, there will be several panels each day. Each will give you an intimate look at what’s coming for He-Man and the Masters! In addition, each panel will feature a Q&A session at the end for fans. Please note that due to time limitations, panelists may not be able to answer all questions. In the interest of transparency, this experience is new for all of us. There may be some hiccups as we try this for the first time. And we’ll learn from this one what works, and what else you’d like to see added. If it goes well, this could be something we add to future Power-Con events for a nominal fee. But we’re giving you this first one for free! We will have more information this coming week, along with any free registration requirements needed in order to participate. This event will only last the weekend and will be the only opportunity to see some content, as not all of it will be reposted online. In addition, fans who join us for the panels will be entered into a prize raffle. Each panel will have its own raffle so you have multiple chances to win. You don’t want to miss out! So what about the Power-Con exclusives? We have a couple updates for those. The most common question that they currently receive is “What will the packaging look like?” Some time this coming week, Mattel will do online reveals for the Power-Con exclusive packaging. Also in honor of the He-Man & She-Ra based convention, The Four Horsemen are going to go ahead and put these two figures (shown below) up for sale on StoreHorsemen.com next weekend, and the sales will be spread out over both days of what would have been the two days of the Power-Con convention. The first sale will begin at 2:00pm EST on Saturday, August 8th and will end when the allotment for Saturday is sold out. The second sale will begin at 2:00pm EST on Sunday, August 9th and will end when the allotment for Sunday is sold out. These figures are in stock and will begin shipping soon after the sale, but please allow extra time for shipping to occur due to the restrictions forced upon us by the global pandemic. Dorina Onoris and Lord Dragull will be in very limited supply and will only be available for sale as a pair (not separately). Only one purchase of the set per customer per day will be allowed. Please be aware that if a second order is placed by the same customer on the same day, all of that customers orders for that day may be cancelled without notice. Everyone – whether you were able to get a set on Saturday or not, will be able to get back into the sale to try your hand at getting one on Sunday, just like is always done at Power-Con. Some of you may already know that these two figures are included in the upcoming Mythic Legions: All-Stars 3 wave, and if you pre-ordered that wave, you are guaranteed to receive these figures when that wave is officially released. If you choose to try your luck at getting them months before the pre-ordered wave is officially released by ordering them through the Store Horsemen Power-Con debut sale, please be aware in advance that this will most definitely be a hard fought battle and the cost of getting these two figures early will be slightly higher than the normal cost of a standard Mythic Legions figure. Each pair will cost $80.00, plus shipping & handling charges.
  6. New to the forums but been a longtime browser of TNI--love this site! I wanted to share a couple of custom painted vintage Masters of the Universe playsets: Grayskull and Snake Mountain. I absolutely love MOTU and as I was gearing up my anticipation to collect the Origins line, I wanted to revisit Grayskull and Snake Mountain with an updated paint application. I normally don't like the idea of touching a vintage toy, however, I believed there was a killer playset waiting to come alive from behind the subpar and uneven factory paint job given to both sets. After priming and dry-brushing applications using acrylics (standard colors and vibrant neons for SM). The only portion sprayed on is the primer I used as the rest was hand brushed. I only amplified the amazing details that were already there. Grayskull's interior was painted with purples and blues (with stars added) to give off a mystical effect of universal power emanating from the Castle. I was inspired by the colors and themes from the original mini comics. I left the accessories alone as their vibrant, flat colors was a nice contrast that actually made it feel (for me) as though this scene popped directly from the comic pages. For Snake Mountain, the interior paint work was highly influenced by Youtuber "Count Stankus" who gave his custom a Monster Golf /fun-house 'glow' vibe--a great 80s look for a great 80s toy! I took notes off his work because he really nailed the effect. Either way...displayed is my love for ALL things MOTU and my process leading to the final product....hope you enjoy and thank you for letting me share!

  8. Mattel is going to be running a fan-vote that allows you to pick one of the four figures shown below to be made into a new Masters of the Universe Origins figure. The vote is said to begin tomorrow (7/21), though they have not yet revealed where exactly or how you will go to do it. Those details we assume will also be released tomorrow. The four figures which you can see concept art for below includes Anti-Eternia Man-At-Arms and Tri-Klops as well as regular Eternia versions of Wun-Dar and Keldor. Other than the 200x version I believe this would be the first time we would see a Keldor figure done, assuming he wins the vote.
