  1. To start i'd like to give a big thank you to Mattel for sending us out this review sample! The "Glorious" Robby Roode is here with this Wal-Mart exclusive WWE Mattel Elite Survivor Series action figure. Bobby Roode has been everywhere in the world of professional wrestling. He is a character I never envisioned as having a Mattel release, so its fantastic that we can add such a cool superstar to our collections! This is a figure release which was based off his United States championship run after he defeated the villainous Jinder Mahal in the finals of the tournament on an Smackdown Live! The face scan is done very well but leaves for some areas of improvement. Having only a small amount of figures released thus far, it sometimes takes toy makers awhile to finally nail down a face scan properly. The beard on the figure has a red tint on the sides and isn't as full as it was during that time of his career. The body type on the figure is very much like Roode's. It has a very muscular and toned build. In comparison to other action figures, this action figure is very much in scale and looks great when paired off in matches with other superstar's action figures. The trunks are maroon, with silver accents and the "Roode" logo in yellow on the front with "Glorious" being on the back in yellow as well. Bobby Roode is sporting the tall black laced boot style. Mattel went all out with the extras by including a soft goods Survivor Series removable t-shirt. The shirt fits very snug and has a fitted look. Mattel has come a long way from its early days where shirts were frayed and sometimes baggy. This is the perfect fit! Mattel in recent time has started to move away from including figures with the huge and bulky plastic t-shirts. As a collector, I can say that we appreciate cool extras such as a cloth t-shirt or robe when purchasing an action figure of this price point. You also receive a WWE United States championship title that has the network WWE logo. With other Elite style action figures you get numerous points of articulation. You get to bend the figure at the head, shoulders, arms, wrists, mid torso, waist, legs, knees, ankles, and you get a swivel at the boot. As previously mentioned, I would only improve on a couple of areas such as the fuller beard and changing the red tint on the sides of the beard. Bobby Roode is also known for his signature robes he wears for each of his performances during his elaborate entrances. It would have been a nice touch if we could have received a cloth robe instead of the t-shirt. I had to use another superstar's robe for this photo shoot. But that is only a minor thing I would have wanted as a collector and fan of Roode. While this may not be a perfect release, it is still a fantastic action figure that captures the likeness of the Glorious one! I would rate this figure a 8/10 This figure can be purchased at Wal-Mart as part of the Survivor Series Elite line. Once again I would sincerely like to thank Mattel for sending us out this fantastic review sample! This was an absolute blast to shoot with!
  2. Big thanks to Mattel for sending us out this very generous sample! K-O Mania III is here with Mattel's WWE Elite series 66 Kevin Owen's chase figure. Every year for Wrestlemania season Kevin Owens has had a t-shirt that has one of the original Wrestlemania logos and put his unique spin on it. This figure is from Wrestlemania 34 which was from the return of Daniel Bryan. Bryan and then Smackdown Live general manager Shane Mcmahon took on the nefarious Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in a match where if Zayn and Owens lost the match, they would be banished from Smackdown Live. I have owned several Kevin Owens figures in the past and felt I was done collecting them since the gear is similar on most releases. However, Mattel always finds a way to reel the collectors in! This is a fantastic figure release with a vast array of extras. The face scan has that typical Kevin Owens smirk that was captured flawlessly. The beard has a nice texture and grain to it. On TV the beard doesn't look full and looks to come in patches, and Mattel nails even that small detail. His tattoos are accurately depicted on his arm, shoulder, and hand. You get an extra pair of hands, one set of closed fists, and another set of open hands. Both sets of hands come with the tattoos which is a nice touch! Kevin Owens has a bigger frame than most superstars on the blue brand and the choice of body is very much on point. Mattel has nailed that barrel and stalky look of K-O! One one side of his fight shorts it says 'fight" in yellow, and on the other side has his K-O logo in gray. You also get the YEP! YEP! YEP! soft goods removable t-shirt which was Owen's way of mocking Daniel Bryan with his Yes Movement that he was known for at the time. As with other elite figures you get articulation at the head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, legs, knees, ankles, and swivel at the top of the boots. If I could have an area of improvement, it would be to add articulation to the mid section, as the molded on shirt hinders full on movement. Another area of improvement for a future release would be a less toned arm mold, as he isn't as muscular as he is depicted in this figure. But those minor flaws shouldn't hold you back from purchasing such a cool looking figure! As a collector it's very much appreciated when Mattel does something different and produces chase variants which makes the overall experience that much more enjoyable. I would rate this release a solid 8/10 Once again. a huge thank you to Mattel for this sample! It was a pleasure snapping some review shots!
  3. A big thank you to Mattel for sending us out this review sample! 5 feet of fury is here with Mattel's WWE Mattel Elite Survivor Series Alex Bliss! This is easily one of if not the best release of "little miss Bliss." The packaging is decked out with unique Survivor Series colors and has the updated Survivor Series logo on the front of the box! As a collector it's always great when toy makers go the extra mile to include cool little details that make the experience that much better. Fresh out of the package the first thing that immediately jumps out at my is the menacing trademark scowl of Alexa Bliss! I have seen Alexa Bliss since her early days in NXT when she adopted her bad girl persona, and that is one hundred percent the expression she makes! Her attire is red and gray with silver accents. I really liked how the front of her top is molded with silver accents. I have seen past figures just have a painted on design which doesn't look as accurate. She is wearing her trademark gloves and has kick pad design boots that say Alexa on one side, and Bliss on the other. Her hair even has her pink highlights at the tips! As a collector who has collected the Mattel line since its inception, I have come to notice even the most minute details. The hands on the newer women action figures are smaller and more in scale and accurate, which can certainly be appreciated! Alexa Bliss is only 5'1 so its awesome when her figure is in scale and much smaller compared to other women wrestlers. This is articulated at the head, shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, waist, legs, knees, and feet. This is comes with the Raw women's championship. The title is quite large and can be a pain to keep on the waist of some of the smaller women's superstars such as Alexa Bliss. I can hope Mattel can adopt a smaller scale title sometime in the future. A minor tid bit I would adjust would be to include an ab crunch in the mid torso to add articulation similar to the mens action figures. I would give this figure release an 8.5/10 These action figures are in stores now at your local Wal-Mart. Pick up one or all your favorites in the Mattel Survivor Series line. Thank you once again to Mattel for sending out the generous sample!
  4. On the newer figures from D.C. Multiverse by Mattel. I really wish this line was always this quality because this is a beautiful figure.
  5. First I want to give a huge thanks to Mattel for sending me this review sample! This is the WWE Mattel Elite Survivor Series AJ Styles figure that can be found at any Wal-Mart. The phenomenal one is decked out in an all blue attire with black and white accents. There is a lot to appreciate on this particular release! I really like the designs of his gear painted on the side of his tights. The logo is accurately depicted and in scale. The font is correct on both kick pads where it says "phenomenal" and "1" The height and scale is also very spot on and accurate as AJ Styles is only 5'11 in real life. I also really like how Styles' facial hair has texture on the beard and isn't painted on like many previous action figures have had by Mattel. This release has the mid length hair mold on his head. It isn't as long as it is now in 2019, yet isn't as short as it was when he jumped ship from NJPW back in 2016. Mattel also includes a rubber vest with his own logo printed on the back. It appears that Mattel is making these out of a softer plastic that makes it much easier on collectors to remove the accessories. It has two small pieces that can be clipped on the vest. One is a hood piece that looks great for entrances. The other adds a collar. There are a few drawbacks that I would have changed as Styles is a big name in WWE and deserves to have as much detail in his figure releases as possible. I would have a molded on belt, rather than having it painted on. The paint doesn't look as straight as it could be, and adding a molded belt can rectify that issue. The other small complaint is the elbow pad design. In WWE Styles uses an elbow pad that has a small cutout on the inside, where as the Mattel version is all one piece. Mattel has used the elbow pad on a Legends Sgt. Slaughter in the past, so hopefully that can be included in future releases. Another small addition would be to include some extra removable hands. Such a small detail like that can take an average figure and make it "phenomenal" A huge positive on this is the cool tattoo design on Aj's right side of his torso. Which I believe all the dates on there are the dates his children were born. I wouldn't pass on such a cool figure if you have the opportunity to pick one up! I would rate this a 7.5/10
  6. Jeff Hardy is here with Mattel's Elite series 67 chase variant action figure! First I would sincerely like to thank Mattel for the review sample. This figure release is based off of Jeff Hardy's July 4th 2018 Smackdown Live US open challenge title defense against the Miz. As a huge Jeff Hardy fan of his many incarnations over the years this variant is a must buy action figure! The face scan perfectly captures "Brother Nero's" intense facial expression! This expression looks great in any action figure photography, or can be appreciated by any child playing and looking to have some fun matches with other figures. The red, white, and blue colors on his face are vibrant and make this release pop. The arm sleeves on Hardy are royal blue. This figure has many cool extras that make this particular figure stand out amongst the many other elite Jeff Hardy figures that I own. The new interchangeable hands that portray his classic Hardy Boyz entrance pose are what I believe, make this figure a real classic. Something as simple as new hands give an array of new possibilities for play. The figure also includes an updated version of the US championship with the network WWE logo that Hardy defended successfully against the Miz. He has a molded studded white belt. As with other elite action figures, the figure has numerous points of articulation. You can bend at the torso, head, shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, waist, knees, and feet. I only have two minor suggestions that I would have tweaked. First is the upper torso mold. On the figure it shows as having a tank top, but if you look at reference shots of the match you can see the shirt is all one piece with no tank showing. Another minor gripe is that I would have included an entrance shirt from his title defense. If you consider yourself a Jeff Hardy fan, then I would highly suggest considering purchasing both versions of elite 67. I would rate this a solid 9/10.
  7. The big Masters of the Universe themed convention Power-Con is taking place this weekend out in Los Angles, CA and Pixel-Dan is on hand who has already gotten a scoop about the possibility of Mattel's Classic ThunderCats figures making a return. As we told you earlier, Mattel is on hand this weekend for the con and has some new Masters of the Universe product on hand that they are showing off, but apparently they also brought some ThunderCats stuff with them as well with these prototypes of Classic ThunderCats Jaga and Grune figures. According to Dan, Mattel has informed him that they do have plans for these which will likely be revealed later this weekend during the convention which officially kicks off later today. You may recall Mattel began doing Masters of the Universe style Classic ThunderCats figures a couple years ago but then canceled the line after only releasing one wave which included Wiley Kit, Wiley Kat, Lino-O, Jackalman, Pumyra & Mumm-Ra in Mummy Form. The abrupt cancellation of the line understandably angered many fans who were looking to at least be able to complete the core team of ThunderCats and villains. Rumors then circulated that Super7 who took over the Masters of the Universe license from Mattel might take over but then never did. With a new ThunderCats animated series which is done in a totally different style than the original show that is clearly made for kids coming from Warner Bros, it may be Mattel has decided to push forward with the Cats again, however I feel that if Mattel wants to get many fans who felt left out to dry after the initial cancellation was done on board with these, they better plan on doing at the very least the remaining core team members (Tygra and Cheetara) in the first wave, otherwise I doubt fans will bother figuring the line will be canceled again before those characters are produced. Let us know in the comments if you will be on board for new Mattel ThunderCats Classic figures in the comments section below whether they do Tygra and Cheetara initially or not. See Dan's video and images below where he talks about his initial conversation about these figures below and check back throughout the weekend for more coverage from Power-Con where we should get more details about this stuff.
  8. While 2020 is looking like the year for McFarlane Toys when it comes to DC Comic based collector figures, Mattel still has some time with the license and with that we can see here thanks to Skywalker, they will be doing some Shazam movie figures for their 6" DC Multiverse line. It looks like there will only be two figures in the wave which includes Shazam himself and Dr. Sivana. While we can only see the front of the packaging here, it does not appear these figures include any kind of Collect-And-Connect pieces. Skywalker reports these showing up at a Walmart store in OH.
