It's Wednesday, and you know what that means: ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at a couple of new Marvel Legends figures, the Astonishing X-Men Wolverine and the Superior Spider-man figures for the 85th anniversary of Marvel, by Hasbro. After seeing the reveals from Hasbro Pulse last week, I looked at my pile and realized I did have some Marvel Legends figures in there too, so riding the high of the Secret Wars figures reveal, I opened a Wolverine and a Spider-man figure, which would soon become my 2 favorite ones... The packaging on that Marvel 85th Anniversary wave is really nice, sober but with the different logos behind the figures and the art on the side and back. First off, the Superior Spider-man, which is a figure I've been wanting for a long time. For those unfamiliar with the comic books arc, Doctor Octopus was dying and managed to trick Spider-man and swap bodies with him, leading to a darker, 'superior' Spider-man. Peter Parker's would eventually get his body back, but the whole run when Otto Octavius was Spider-man was pretty nice. I do like a good villain-turned-hero or hero-turned-villain story (Red Hood, Winter Soldier,...). Otto would add mechanical spider arms or 'waldoes' to the suit, since he's used to the tentacles from his previous body. The figure looks really awesome. With some balance and patience, the figure can even be carried by the waldoes. It comes with 2 heads, 3 pairs of hands, 2 back attachments and the 4 waldoes. One of the heads has reflections in the lenses, which looks awesome, but for some reason, seeing the promo pics, I could have sworn they were shiny, like vac-metal, and that the reflections were just from the place where the pictures were taken. The Astonishing X-Men Wolverine figure is also a fantastic figure. I used to think the X-Men 97 one could not be topped, and it turns out it could, and it didn't even take that long... Wolverine comes with 2 heads (one unmasked), 3 pairs of hands (including a pointing finger!). That specific suit is such a classic look, even if not 100% accurate, I had to grab it. It was fun to try to reproduce some of the comic book covers with that one. That figure is the best there is at what it does. More news at 11:00... *SNIKT* *THWIP* *CLANG*
