  1. Forever alone in a crowd, Arthur Fleck seeks connection. Yet, as he trods the sooted Gotham City streets and rides the graffitied mass transit rails of a hostile town teeming with division and dissatisfaction, Arthur wears two masks. One, he paints on for his day job as a clown. The other he can never remove; it’s the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel he’s a part of the world around him, and not the misunderstood man whom life is repeatedly beating down. Fatherless, Arthur has a fragile mother, arguably his best friend, who nicknamed him Happy, a moniker that’s fostered in Arthur a smile that hides the heartache beneath. But, when bullied by teens on the streets, taunted by suits on the subway, or simply teased by his fellow clowns at work, this social outlier only becomes even more out of sync with everyone around him. Directed, co-written and produced by Todd Phillips, “Joker” is the filmmaker’s original vision of the infamous DC villain, an origin story infused with, but distinctly outside, the character’s more traditional mythologies. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. Longing for any light to shine on him, he tries his hand as a stand-up comic, but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty and, ultimately, betrayal, Arthur makes one bad decision after another that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty, allegorical character study. Three-time Oscar nominee Phoenix (“The Master,” “Walk the Line,” “Gladiator”) stars in the titular role alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro (“Raging Bull,” “The Godfather: Part II”). The film also stars Zazie Beetz (TV’s “Atlanta,” “Deadpool 2”), Frances Conroy (TV’s “American Horror Story,” Hulu’s “Castle Rock”), Brett Cullen (“42,” Netflix’s “Narcos”), Glenn Fleshler (TV’s “Billions,” “Barry”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow,” “Molly’s Game”), Shea Whigham (“First Man,” “Kong: Skull Island”), Marc Maron (TV’s “Maron,” “GLOW”), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow,” TV’s “Penny Dreadful”), Josh Pais (upcoming “Motherless Brooklyn,” “Going in Style”) and Leigh Gill (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”). Oscar nominee Phillips (“Borat,” “The Hangover” trilogy) directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Oscar-nominated writer Scott Silver (“The Fighter”), based on characters from DC. The film was produced by Phillips and Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“A Star Is Born,” “American Sniper”) under their Joint Effort banner, and Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff (“The Wolf of Wall Street”). It was executive produced by Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Aaron L. Gilbert, Joseph Garner, Richard Baratta, and Bruce Berman. Behind the scenes, Phillips was joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “The Hangover” trilogy), production designer Mark Friedberg (“If Beale Street Could Talk,” “Selma”), editor Jeff Groth (“War Dogs,” “The Hangover Part III”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (“Phantom Thread,” “The Artist”). The music is by Hildur Guðnadóttir (HBO’s “Chernobyl,” “Sicario: Day of the Soldado”). Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in Association with BRON Creative, a Joint Effort Production, a Film by Todd Phillips, “Joker.”
  2. A couple of shots of the titular characters from the classic, peerless and outstanding Batman The Animated Series which marked its 27th anniversary this week.
  3. The newly released Clown Prince of Crime edition Joker by Mezco toyz. A beautiful figure, the overall design is great. The colours are vibrant and the clothed goods are a real high quality. Plenty accessories and one extra head sculpt. If it came with maybe two head sculpts it might just make the that Deluxe Joker less sought after. Overall, it’s one of Mezco’s best and I love the originality in the design.
  4. Director Todd Phillips hit the social media today via his Instagram account announcing that the teaser trailer for his stand-alone Joker movie will debut on Wednesday, April 3rd. The director made the announcement with the new teaser movie poster featuring Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker and the tagline "Put on a Happy Face."
  5. Warner Bros. Pictures is returning all three films in Christopher Nolan’s $2.5 billion “Dark Knight” Trilogy to the biggest of the big screens—IMAX ® film—in honor of the first-ever appearance of Batman in the comics. The announcement was made today by Jeff Goldstein, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. First, on Saturday, March 30, the films—2005’s “Batman Begins,” 2008’s “The Dark Knight” and 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises”—will screen back-to-back at the Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood, California. During an interlude between the second and third films, Nolan will join the audience for a moderated Q&A discussion on the movies. Then on April 13, the Trilogy will screen at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City and AMC Metreon in San Francisco, followed by Cinesphere Ontario Place, Toronto, and IMAX Theatre at the Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis, on April 20, each accompanied by the footage of Nolan’s Los Angeles appearance. In all five cities, all three movies will be seen in the director’s preferred format, IMAX ® 70mm, providing an all-encompassing moviegoing experience. In fact, it was Nolan who, with “The Dark Knight,” was the first filmmaker to shoot the action sequences of a major feature film with IMAX ® cameras, revolutionizing the integration of IMAX and standard formats. He again utilized IMAX cameras even more extensively in “The Dark Knight Rises.” Goldstein stated, “Christopher Nolan broke new ground with the ‘Dark Knight’ Trilogy, and this is a rare chance for today’s audiences to experience these extraordinary films as they were meant to be seen. To have the added privilege of hearing Chris’s insights firsthand makes this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” Tickets for all events will go on sale beginning Wednesday, March 13, at 9 a.m. PDT, and moviegoers who acquire tickets for all three films will receive a lanyard and special “Dark Knight” Trilogy collectible.

  11. Hours before the DesignerCon 2018 show floor opens, superstar designer toy artist James Groman revealed via Instagram his monstrous reimaginings of Batman and his Rogues Gallery for his upcoming DC Artists Alley designer vinyl collaboration with DC Collectibles. Groman is best known for his outlandish designs as seen in many of his works including the highly popular Madballs toy series. Groman now brings his signature art style to the DC universe and offers his terrifying spin on Batman, Killer Croc, The Joker and Two-Face as 7''-scale designer vinyl figures. The figures are designed and sculpted by the artist and will be on display at this weekend’s DesignerCon convention in Anaheim, CA, at the DC Collectibles booth (#1500). “When DC Collectibles asked me to design and sculpt my own renditions of DC’s iconic Dark Knight and a few of his villainous adversaries, I was excited and intrigued,” said Groman. “Growing up, I wasn’t as big a fan of costumed heroes like most of my friends and was usually drawn to characters like Swamp Thing, Monster of Frankenstein and Werewolf by Night. With that said, I’ve always been a Batman fan, mostly because of his dark nature and origins, and he has THE BEST villains. Working with Jim Fletcher and Trevor Zammit at DC Collectibles on these figures has been so creatively satisfying! It was interesting to see just how far we could take the designs but still remain respectful of each character’s basic DNA. I can only hope this collection leads to even more collaborations with DC Collectibles.” Groman’s DC Artists Alley designer vinyls will hit stores in October 2019 and are available to preorder now. DesignerCon attendees at this weekend’s convention can take home a custom art print and enamel pin designed by Groman. Full details about Groman’s DC Artists Alley designer vinyl figures and his additional DesignerCon exclusives are below: DC Artists Alley Designer Vinyls by James Groman: - Characters: Batman, Killer Croc, The Joker and Two-Face - All figures are designed and sculpted by James Groman - Size: 7'' scale - MSRP: $65.00 each - Each character is limited to 3,000 pieces - On sale October 2019 - Up for pre-order now at BigBadToyStore.com Additional items being sold at DesignerCon 2018 at the DC Collectibles booth (#1500) - Limited-Edition Art Prints designed by James Groman (MSRP: $40.00 each) – Limited to 50 prints - Limited-Edition Enamel Pins (MSRP: $10.00 each) – Limited to 50 pins

  15. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alec Baldwin has joined the likes of Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Marc Maron and Joaquin Phoenix in Joker, Warner Bros.' stand-alone movie centered on DC’s clown prince of crime. Baldwin will be playing the role of Thomas Wayne, who in Batman lore is the father of Bruce Wayne, the future caped crusader. Sources claim the script describes this version of Thomas Wayne is a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump since the movie project is veering off-center from the traditional Batman canon.
  16. Todd Phillips, director of the upcoming Joker origin film, has revealed a first look image via Instagram of star Joaquin Phoenix, before he becomes the infamous Batman villain. Phillips captioned the image with 'Arthur,' based on the Joker’s real name before he took on his 'Joker' title.
