HBO Max has ordered the Max Original drama WELCOME TO DERRY (working title) to series. The series, from Warner Bros. Television and developed for television by filmmakers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti ("IT," "IT Chapter Two") and Jason Fuchs ("IT Chapter Two," "Wonder Woman," "Argylle"), is a prequel to the New Line global blockbuster "IT" films. Andy Muschietti will direct multiple episodes of the series, including the first episode. Logline: Set in the world of Stephen King's "IT" universe, WELCOME TO DERRY (wt) is based on King's "IT" novel and expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films "IT" and "IT Chapter Two." Sources from within have informed Deadline that HBO Max is developing a prequel series for the IT film franchise. The working title is 'Welcome To Derry.' The project is being written by Jason Fuchs with Andy Muschietti, director of It: Part One and It: Part Two, and Barbara Muschietti executive producing via their Double Dream production company. Warner Bros. Television is the studio. In Welcome to Derry, children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of kids is faced with their biggest fears when they square off against a murdering clown named Pennywise. The prequel leads up to the events of 2017’s It: Part One, based on the Stephen King horror novel.

It seems like everyone in recent years has taken a action figure crack at the IT movie along with it's killer clown Pennywise. Today Mattel has indicated they seem to be throwing their hat into that ring with this teaser they posted on their MattelCreations Instagram page. The logo is based on the more recent movies but it's really unknown what Mattel plans to do, whether its dolls, action figures or something completely different. With Halloween just around the corner I am sure we will be hearing more about this in the coming days.
