  1. All good things must come to an end, and at the end of January 2024, we lost a good one: IKEA, the Swedish giant of furniture that require assembly, has discontinued the Detolf glass cabinet. Back in 2021, ToyFarce had managed to secure an interview with Sven Ivar Detolf, the inventor of the Detolf glass cabinet, which did not go well. We reached out to him for comments about the termination of his beloved invention. “With a glass-door cabinet, you can show off as well as protect your glassware or your favorite collection.” This was the official description of the Detolf glass cabinet on IKEA’s website. If you are a toy collector, you are most certainly familiar with those, as we’ve seen thousands of pictures of toy collection displayed in one or more Detolfs (Detolves?). During our previous interview with Mr. Detolf, he told us that they were specifically made to display bowls, vases and various glasswares and that he didn't like that collectors used them to display toys: "I did everything I could to get IKEA to stop selling them. I warned you! I refuse that people use my invention to display children toys in them!" said Sven. "I told IKEA that they had 2 options: Either remove them from the market, or I would use my fail-safe feature of exploding glass and get rid of all of them. You've heard about this one! You know what I'm capable of!" I guess we are glad it didn't come to that... Anyway, the replacement for the beloved glass cabinet at IKEA has been revealed to be the Blåliden, and ToyFarce has been trying to get an interview with Edgar Blåliden, its creator. Stay tuned for more details... More news at 11:00... The king Detolf is dead, long live Blåliden? *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  2. Last week, the Hasbro Star Wars team held a Fanstream to reveal figures from the Ahsoka Disney+ live action series (well, "reveal"... more like "talk about figures that had been leaked a few days before"...). During the Fanstream, the team showed that they had a Haslab The Ghost nonchalantly displayed in the background, sitting on top of a IKEA KALLAX shelf unit... which led to IKEA immediately selling over 13,000 units... and counting! "We noticed the traffic on our website went way up after the Hasbro Fanstream ended" said Bjorn Spökhylla, a representant from IKEA. "The Star Wars team mentioned that the big spaceship in the back fits perfectly on a 'normal shelf'. Chris from the Star Wars team kept calling it 'a normal shelf', but everybody knows he meant the one and only IKEA KALLAX shelf unit. So we were clever and put the KALLAX shelf unit on the front page of our website, so that Star Wars fans would immediately find that 'normal shelf' if they wanted it. Within minutes, over 13,000 units were ordered. They are now on backorder at most of our stores, but we are planning to have at least 17,000 units ready, just in case..." Only a bit over 2 days left to grab the Star Wars The Vintage Collection Haslab The Ghost and unlock Kanan and Zeb! Are you getting one? Let us know in the comments! More news at 11:00... Hopefully, the Kallax shelf won't be discontinued, like our beloved Detolf... *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
