  6. Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) today announced a renewal of Hasbro’s rights under its strategic merchandising relationship for major Disney entertainment properties Marvel and Star Wars. Under the Marvel license agreement, Hasbro will continue to develop a wide range of toys and games for Marvel's global Universe of more than 8,000 characters, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow and Black Panther. The Star Wars license agreement includes the rights to toys and games based on entertainment like Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, incorporating fan favorite characters such as The Child from The Mandalorian, affectionately known as Baby Yoda. The agreements are multi-year agreements. he agreements cover entertainment released during their terms for the respective franchises, including all film and television properties as well as properties from Disney+. "We are pleased to build on our relationship with Disney and extend our agreement for Marvel and Star Wars franchises," said Brian Goldner, Hasbro's Chairman and CEO. “Disney’s celebrated franchises are consistently ranked as top toy properties and provide expansive content for us to build upon for years to come.” "Our longstanding relationship with Hasbro has provided generations of Disney fans with quality play experiences," said Ken Potrock, president, consumer products commercialization, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. "Continuing this successful collaboration for our Marvel and Star Wars franchises enables families and fans around the world to immerse themselves in our iconic stories and engage with our rich characters.”
  7. Hasbro continues their Star Wars Retro Collection with Hoth Ice Planet Adventure Game with Snowspeeder Luke Skywalker figure. These figures are done in the same style as the old Kenner figures. Word is they will also be releasing on Empire Strikes Back cardbacks more single carded figures.
  8. While not confirmed yet by Hasbro, we have gotten word that they will be releasing Star Wars: The Black Series Darth Revan Force FX Lightsaber 2-Pack which will cost $250. Again this has yet to be confirmed by Hasbro so we will treat it as a rumor for now. Likely we will see this on Saturday during Toy Fair.
  9. Today via io9 Hasbro announced a new kid-oriented Star Wars line of 2.5" scaled vehicles and figures called Mission Fleet. The line will see three different tier of product that ranges in price from $8-$20. The coolest one in my opinion is the new Mandalorian’s speeder which comes with a Baby Yoda (The Child) and carrier, something missing from Hasbro's Black Series version of the popular character. Not sure if the carrier will scale with the Black Series figure or not. May be to small. They are also doing vehicles such as the Luke's X-Wing, Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, Anakin's Jedi Starfighter, Obi-Wan's BARC Speeder Bike Captain Rex's AT-RT walker. You even get Boba Fett and the Phase-II Clone Trooper, Ahsoka Tano and her “Aquatic Attack” speeder and Chewbacca and his Wookiee attack helicopter. These will all have things like firing missiles and interchangeable parts. Look for these to hit shelves later this year.
  10. Hasbro has released an updated image for their upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 6" Black Series Zori Bliss which reveals how the faceplate is removable. You can pre-order this figure at our sponsor BigBadToyStore.com.
  11. Hasbro today held their Q4 2019 Earnings Conference Call where CEO Brian Goldner spoke to members of the financial media. During the event there was no mention of whether Hasbro had renewed their licenses with Disney for either Star Wars or Marvel. For those not familiar, the current licenses will expire at the end of this year. While Goldner would not commit to any future plans beyond this year for those brands, or their continued releationship with Disney, he did say he remained positive on the prospects of them continuing to work together. While one would expect some kind of official announcement to come soon from either Disney or Hasbro on the future of the Star Wars and Marvel licenses, it's not terribly surprising that it did not come today. Hasbro will be holding a full Year 2019 Earnings Conference Call and Annual Investor Update at the New York Toy Fair on February 21, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time. If there is no announcement at that point about continuing on with these licenses, then fans might want to start panicking.
  12. For my latest interview, I got a chance to sit down with David Vonner, who is currently a Design Manager on Mattel's WWE line of action figures. Before that David worked at Hasbro, and was the driving force behind their 3.75" Marvel Universe line. Before coming to Hasbro, David got his start making action figures at Toy Biz working on Marvel Legends and LOTR figures. We talk about all those things and more in the interview. David was at Atomic Basement Comics in Long Beach, CA during the interview. He also wanted you to know that you should support your local comic book stores.
