  5. Super7 is thrilled to announce the beginning of what we imagine will be an amazing creative partnership between Super7 and our childhood heroes over at Disney. It begins today, with the launch of our first three Disney collectibles: a trio of Ultimates! Figures commemorating some of our favorite characters from the formative years of the Magic Kingdom. It will continue with...well, you’ll just have to wait and see. Ultimates! Figures are the perfect medium for our Disney launch. They provide an opportunity to serve up all bells and whistles; the ability to create something truly unique for both the Super7 and Disney obsessive fan. Our approach, as with everything, was to dig beneath the surface to find the spirit and the angles that allow us to make the toys we always wanted. The details expressed in each Ultimates! Figure are unrivaled; exactly what you want when you’re working with the classics. And the care taken to create each? That, too, is on another level. As to who gets this very special treatment, we dove deep and emerged with a few that have always held a special place in our hearts. Ones that represent the Super7 way of looking at the world. Here’s the exclusive lineup: Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Mouse From the timeless animated classic Fantasia comes Mickey Mouse, in the role that captured our imaginations as far back as we can remember. We used that same kind of big dreaming, hustle, know-how and a little bit of magic to bring this little marvel to life. Our first Disney toy ever is super poseable and features three interchangeable expressive heads, interchangeable hands, two water buckets, animated broom, axe and the Sorcerer’s giant spell book. The Ultimates Sorcerer’s Apprentice is also dressed in a tailored, velvety-soft wizard robe with a real rope tied waistband. Pinocchio One of the darkest, wildest, most incredible stories ever set to animation cels, Pinocchio gave us nightmares for years, and a hard-won set of lessons for the rest of our lives. The puppet with a penchant for tall tales and a curiosity for life reflected our deep yearning for adventure, and to fit in – perfectly telling the tale of becoming the person you’re meant to be. Super7’s Ultimates! Pinocchio is a super poseable action figure with 3 interchangeable heads showing his growing nose, interchangeable hands, his conscience Jiminy Cricket (of course), school book, axe, apple, Cleo’s fishbowl, Figaro the Cat, and a smart fabric vest with gold trim. Prince John Truly one of the great cartoon villains, Prince John and his maneless, spineless monarchy is a masterclass in political mismanagement; one he pays dearly for. Particularly with Robin Hood stealing John’s resources any time his back is turned. The Prince John Ultimates! super poseable action figure features three interchangeable heads, interchangeable hands with and without the jewels of his rings, two versions of the slithering assistant Sir Hiss, a vanity mirror, and a luxurious, plush velvet regal robe with fur trim. These will be priced individually at $45 or in a set for $135. Once again, we’re thrilled that Disney has given us this rare opportunity to bring our point of view to characters and experiences that helped define our own childhood. We hope you like them—and we can’t wait to show you what else we’re making from our favorite Disney moments from film, TV, and Parks.

  7. The ShopDisney Japan website has listed a new Star Wars Elite Series die-cast figure with the Empire Strikes Back Imperial Probe Droid. It is listed as being a limited release and looks to cost around $50 US. The Disney Elite Series has been on a bit of hiatus and the figures which are made with die-cast metal tend to be a bit taller than Hasbro's Black Series figures. They are also are only sold at Disney Stores. The legs do appear to be articulated and it comes with a display stand. The antenna's on the top look to be removable. No word yet on when or if this figure will be available in the US, but it looks like it may be a nice alternative to Hasbro's recently released version.

  9. Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) today announced a renewal of Hasbro’s rights under its strategic merchandising relationship for major Disney entertainment properties Marvel and Star Wars. Under the Marvel license agreement, Hasbro will continue to develop a wide range of toys and games for Marvel's global Universe of more than 8,000 characters, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow and Black Panther. 10. Shown below via Amazon Canada is a look at the upcoming Mandalorian and The Child (Baby Yoda) BrickHeadz coming from LEGO. These are based on the new Disey+ Star Wars: The Mandalorian series.
  11. Hasbro today held their Q4 2019 Earnings Conference Call where CEO Brian Goldner spoke to members of the financial media. During the event there was no mention of whether Hasbro had renewed their licenses with Disney for either Star Wars or Marvel. For those not familiar, the current licenses will expire at the end of this year. While Goldner would not commit to any future plans beyond this year for those brands, or their continued releationship with Disney, he did say he remained positive on the prospects of them continuing to work together. While one would expect some kind of official announcement to come soon from either Disney or Hasbro on the future of the Star Wars and Marvel licenses, it's not terribly surprising that it did not come today. Hasbro will be holding a full Year 2019 Earnings Conference Call and Annual Investor Update at the New York Toy Fair on February 21, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time. If there is no announcement at that point about continuing on with these licenses, then fans might want to start panicking.
  12. Two images showcasing the new Revoltech Jessie - review available on the site as well! First off, the “When she loved me..” expression... and here she is with the rest of her Revoltech gang!
  13. The newly re-released Legacy of Revoltech Jessie figure! Quick thoughts : Beautifully sculpted and painted, this for me is the best of the three Toy Story Revoltech figures Contents : Jessie figure X 3 face sculpts X 9 hand options X 1 Red cowgirl hat X 1 rope X 1 name plate Figure base and stand Articulation : Unsurprisingly, the figure boasts excellent articulation. Head rotation side to side and front to back 360degree Moveable eyes Ponytail rotation at the top of the ponytail and at the bottom 360degree waist rotation 360degree upper leg rotation Knee articulation Ankle articulation and rotation 360degree shoulder rotation Elbow articulation Wrist articulation Sculpt : Excellent character likeness. Well proportioned body shape with excellent details. The outfit is well designed with raised buttons, seams and arm and leg flares. There is a raised drawstring hoop on her back. The hair design is superb, with small details capturing the rope-like style of her hair Paint : Vibrant colours, well applied throughout the figures. No paint issues with my figure at all. Final thoughts : I found the Revoltech Buzz Lightyear somewhat disappointing, his limb proportions were off with some questionable sculpting. Jessie has raised the bar however. With faultless character likeness, excellent articulation and painting. My only issue is a lack of accessories but what she does come with is well executed. I would say she is the best of the three Toy Story Revoltech figures SCORE: 9/10
  14. Getting into the Spooky spirit with this shot of the Disney Store ToyBox Jack Skellington figure! Behind the Scenes
  15. A look at the newly released, Legacy of Revoltech Buzz Lightyear. Check out the Toy Photography section for some more advanced shots. Initial thoughts - He’’s a good figure but just isn’t quite the same quality as others in Revoltech’s Disney line. I’ll get into that in more detail below. ARTICULATION - As you would expect from a Revoltech Figure. Highly articulate, shoulder joints, elbow joints, wrist rotation and wrist joints, finger and thumb joints, hip joints, upper thigh rotation, knee joints, ankle joints, waist joint, neck rotation and neck joint, canopy opens and closes also. He also features movable eyes. PAINT APPLICATION - I mention this specifically due to a couple QC issues with mine where the paint had either been slightly misapplied or slightly chipped particularly on the green chest panel. However, the colours are vibrant and true to the original design. They capture the light beautifully as well. ACCESSORIES - These are good but again compared to others in the line there are not as many as you would expect. There are two head sculpts as you will see. A smiling Buzz and a more intense smirk. Both feature the trademark eye movement but due to a design flaw wherein the inner part of the head sculpt is too narrow, meaning the eye joint cannot fit inside the head if moved too far in one direction! However you can still definitely change the direction of sight which adds great variation particularly for photography and is a reason I really enjoy these figures. The little details really bring them to life. There are attachable wings which are well detailed and a small closed wing panel to replace them when not in use. There are also three green army men, a Buzz Lightyear name plate and a clear plastic display stand. A removal arm is also included as a feature to replicate the classic scene from Toy Story but the way it is executed just looks like a joint you could remove anyway... OVERALL - He is a good figure, not great. And I think compared to the high quality Revoltech have produced with Woody, Judy Hopps and Winnie the Pooh, I just expected a bit more. He is not a terrible expensive figure though and the articulation and details do allow for terrific variety of posing and photography and all in all, he is a fine addition to the Revoltech Disney line. Just sadly not quite up there with the best. FINAL SCORE - 6/10
  16. A shot of the new Legacy of Revoltech Buzz Lightyear. I have included a few ‘behind the scenes’ shots of explain the laser effect. In short, I used atmosphere aerosol spray to capture the laser from a laser measuring device. More shots to come this week and please check out my review as well!
  17. While it is not scheduled to open until later this year (Summer at Disneyland, Fall at Walt Disney World), select members of the media were recently given a sneak preview of Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Set during the battle between the First Order and the Resistance, guests will travel to the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, one of the two main attractions, will send groups of six (two pilots, two gunners and two flight engineers) on a mission for Hondo Onaka, and your results (good or bad), will follow you throughout the land. Rise Of The Resistance, Disney's longest ride, will see guests captured and taken aboard a massive Star Destroyer, including full size TIE Fighters and AT-AT's The ride will also feature John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Issac, and Daisy Ridey portraying their characters from the films. In addition to the rides, there will as be a number of restaurants and shops dealing in in-universe wares. For drinks, specifically alcoholic ones, there's Oga's Cantina, which will features drinks with names like the Fuzzy Tauntaun, Dagobah Slug Slinger, Bloody Rancor and Bespin Fizz, as well as music from DJ R-3X, "otherwise known as Rex, the former Starspeeder 3000 pilot droid from the original Star Tours in Disneyland). You'll also be able to try such dishes as the Smoked Kaadu Ribs sold at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, and the Sour Sarlaac, a drink sold at Ronto Roasters. From the Toydarian Toymaker'and Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, to Savi’s Workshop, and the Droid Depot, the merchandise from Galaxy's Edge is made to have an in-universe feel. "Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be the first area within the Disney park designed to fully integrate with the Play Disney Parks mobile app, which... will allow guests to find secrets and Easter eggs strewn throughout the land, such as translating a galactic language, participating in smaller side missions and learning about hidden treasures inside crates and containers. The app will also allow guests to interact with the droids roaming around, as well as ships, display screens and even drinking fountains. Disney cast members (park staff) will also be a large part of the land. They will all have newly designed costumes, which we previewed, and they will have character backstories to better interact in the world with guests. One of the more interesting parts of the costume aspect is that the staff will get to choose their ensemble from a large array of options. They will be allowed to mix and match some looks to give their own unique style."(Sources: Hollywood Reporter and StarWars.com)
  18. Are movie studios starting to shy away from the San Diego Comic-Con? The question comes to mind as Deadline is reporting that movie studios such as Sony, Universal, Warner Bros. DC film studio and Lionsgate will not be attending the convention. Studios currently set to be attending are Disney/Marvel, Paramount and New Line. No reason for Universal, Warner Bros DC film studio or Lionsgate to not be attending but Sony does have their hands full with Spider-Man: Far From Opening opening next week and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood upcoming on July 26th. Their promo teams have events set up for the whole year with Zombieland 2: Double Tap (October 18th), Charlie’s Angels (November 15th), The Grudge (Janaury 3rd), the comic-book feature adaptation Bloodshot starring Vin Diesel (February 21st), Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island (February 28th) and, farther out, Marvel’s Morbius (July 31st, 2020).
  19. *SPOILER FREE* Felt obliged to share some Toy Story photos after watching Toy Story 4. An absolutely superb film and I’d thoroughly recommend you go and see it if you haven’t already!
  20. So this is a little outside my usual subject of toy photography. But these Disney store ToyBox figures really are a delight as such a low price point. Wanted to share a couple of the newly released Genie!
  21. The Revoltech Disney figures have to be some of the best around at the moment They are a mix of terrific articulation with a huge variety of interchangeable faces and accessories allowing for multiple scenes to be recreated. Here are the Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde figures from Zootropolis/Zootopia.
