  1. SUPERPOWERED: THE DC STORY, a three-part Max Original DC documentary series co-directed by Academy Award® and Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Leslie Iwerks (“100 Years of Warner Bros.,” “The Imagineering Story”) and Peabody Award®-winning and Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Mark Catalena (“Johnny Carson: King of Late Night,” “Inventing LA: The Chandlers and Their Times”), debuts THURSDAY, JULY 20 on Max. Narrated by Rosario Dawson, SUPERPOWERED: THE DC STORY takes an unprecedented look at the enduring and influential legacy of DC, allowing fans to rediscover the universe of characters, as well as the iconic comic book company’s origins, its evolution, and its nearly nine-decade cultural impact across every artistic medium. Featuring a wealth of interviews with the industry’s most prolific creators and the actors who bring their iconic characters from the page to the screen, SUPERPOWERED: THE DC STORY reminds us that at the heart of DC are the comics – the four-color fantasies that forever spark the imagination and instill hope. EPISODE 1: THE HERO’S JOURNEY For over 85 years, DC has been home to a universe of iconic characters and unparalleled storytelling, but its origins began with the brilliant minds who created a Super Hero trinity: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. From survival to revival, DC navigates the birth of the sidekick, parental concerns after WWII, and a corporate takeover amid a struggle to stay current. EPISODE 2: COMING OF AGE During a period of declining comic book sales, a bold move resets DC’s entire universe, as the company decides to also take a gamble on a new Superman movie. While rivals begin to address pressing social issues, a determined DC introduces their first Black Super Hero and breaks story boundaries under their new imprint, Vertigo Comics, with the hopes of maturing comic books into an everlasting adult art form. EPISODE 3: A BETTER TOMORROW Tired of being left out of the conversation, a group of diverse creators forms Milestone Media to give voice to marginalized characters and stories born out of their own experiences. After more than eight decades of history, DC visionaries look toward a future that is representative of all in their ever-expanding universe. Featuring: The docuseries features over 60 new and archival interviews with the industry’s most prolific creators, actors, and executives, including Melissa Benoist, Greg Berlanti, Tim Burton, Mike Carlin, Lynda Carter, Henry Cavill, Kaley Cuoco, Gal Gadot, James Gunn, Patty Jenkins, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Keaton, Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Jim Lee, Zachary Levi, Damon Lindelof, Tom Mankiewicz, Jason Momoa, Christopher Nolan, Robert Pattinson, Christopher Reeve, John Ridley, Margot Robbie, Bruce Timm, Michael E. Uslan and Mark Waid, among others. Credits: SUPERPOWERED: THE DC STORY is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, DC, Berlanti Productions, and Iwerks & Co. The docu-series is executive produced by showrunner Leslie Iwerks, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden, Jim Lee, and Doug Prinzivalli, with co-executive-producers Mark Catalena, Rachael Jerahian, Jonathan Gabay, and Adam Schlagman. The series is co-directed by Iwerks and Catalena.

SUPERMAN & LOIS has been renewed for a 10-episode fourth season. The network also decided that it's one and done for Gotham Knights. In SUPERMAN & LOIS, after years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world's most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin), and comic books' most famous journalist, Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever - dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society. Based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, Gotham Knights was written by the Batwoman trio of Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams. It picked up in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne’s murder, with his rebellious adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies—Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), Harper Row (Fallon Smythe), and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara)—when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. 24. It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at the Huntress figure from the Batman: Hush line from MAFEX. Huntress is the 9th figure in the line (counting the Batman repaint), and is a weird choice, considering she is probably nobody's favorite character from the Batman: Hush comic book, which included almost the entire Bat-family and rogue gallery (at the time). Huntress, or Helena Rosa Bertinelli, is a vigilante that operates out of Gotham City, and a member of the Bat-Family. In the Batman: Hush comic book, she appears only for a few pages, saves Batman after his grapple gun failed and he fell from the sky, and has a quick skirmish with Catwoman later. The MAFEX figure comes with an extra head sculpt, 4 extra pairs of hands, and a staff. Not a lot of accessories with that figure, and sadly no crossbow, which is usually Huntress's go-to weapon. She had an actual gun in the comic book, which she pointed at Catwoman, but since we won't have firearms with DC/Warner figures, we know why it's missing. The crossbow must be in that grey area where it has a trigger, even if it does not shoot bullets, so is considered a firearm, maybe? Huntress is a great figure, as are all the figures from that Batman: Hush line. Great articulation, with an update compared to the other ones as she has thigh swivels (gasp). It also seems that MAFEX has figured out the capes, with this one having wires on the cape but also at the bottom, so you can just fold it nicely at the bottom, or open it wide and it stays put. If only the first Batman came with a cape like this... The only issue I have with it are the pegs for the hands, which are a little too small, and the hands tend to fall off a lot when you handle the figure. More news at 11:00... Tell everyone Huntress did this to you!
  25. Prime Video today announced the acquisition of two new DC animated Batman series, alongside an original animated film from Warner Bros. Animation and DC. The film Merry Little Batman is ordered with a spinoff series, Bat-Family, along with a two-season order for Batman: Caped Crusader, from executive producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves. The Batman animated titles will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. Batman: Caped Crusader is an all-new animated series and reimagining of the Batman mythology through the visionary lens of executive producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves. Utilizing state-of-the-art animation techniques, this powerful creative partnership will once again reinvent the character and his iconic rogue’s gallery with sophisticated storytelling, nuanced characters, and intense action sequences, all set in a visually striking world. In addition to Timm, Abrams, and Reeves, Ed Brubaker and Sam Register are set to executive produce the series. Based on characters from DC, Batman: Caped Crusader is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Bad Robot Productions, and 6th & Idaho. Merry Little Batman is an animated family action comedy destined to join the rogue's gallery of classic holiday movies. When young Damian Wayne finds himself alone in Wayne Manor on Christmas Eve, he must transform into “Little Batman'' to defend his home and Gotham City from the crooks and supervillains intent on destroying the holidays. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based on characters from DC, Merry Little Batman is directed by Mike Roth (Regular Show) from a screenplay by Morgan Evans (Teen Titans Go!). Roth also serves as executive producer, alongside Sam Register. Following the events of Merry Little Batman, Bat-Family follows Batman, Alfred, and young Damian Wayne—who has now taken on the mantle of Little Batman—alongside a few newcomers to Wayne Manor, as they navigate the fun and frustrations of life as a superfamily. Jase Ricci, Mike Roth, and Sam Register are set to executive produce the series, which is produced by Warner Bros. Animation.
