  2. Timothy Dalton and Alan Tudyk are the newest members of DC Universe’s Doom Patrol when it debuts next year. Timothy Dalton has been tapped to play Dr. Niles “The Chief” Caulder and Alan Tudyk has been cast as Eric Morden/Mr. Nobody in the upcoming live-action series, which centers on a group of superhuman outcasts who are called to a life-changing mission. Described as a pioneer in medical science, The Chief searches the world for those on the edge of death. The brilliant but controversial doc will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including the ostracized Doom Patrol heroes. Mr. Nobody is described as after being exposure to unknown experiments by ex-Nazis in post-war Paraguay, the man formerly known as Eric Morden emerges as a living shadow able to drain the sanity of others as the enigmatic, and totally insane, Mr. Nobody. Written by Jeremy Carver, Doom Patrol is a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts: Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero). Led by the mysterious Caulder, they’re called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg (Joivan Wade). Her strong sense of empathy puts her at the center of a horrific life-threatening epidemic in her hometown, where she faces emotional demons from her past… while a chance meeting with scientist Alec Holland takes her into a world of horror and the supernatural, and of the elemental creature known as Swamp Thing. Sten will play Liz Tremayne, a close childhood friend of Abby Arcane’s, who splits her time between reporting for the local paper and bartending at her aging father’s roadhouse bar. Her no-nonsense attitude belies a deep compassion for her friends and family as she sets out in her uncompromising quest to expose the secrets that threaten her beloved hometown. Written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman with Wan, Verheiden, Dauberman, Michael Clear and Wiseman as executive producers alongside Len Wiseman who is set to direct. Source: Deadline

  5. DC Collectibles has launched a new diorama statue line for fans of the classic Marv Wolfman and George Perez run of All-New Teen Titans comics which started in 1982. The entire team of Starfire, Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl and Raven will be featured in the series, and things kick off with Robin and Starfire who are starting to hit comic and specialty shops now. The statues come with detachable bases and Robin who is sculpted in a running like pose stands around 7.37" tall while Starfire who is sculpted in a blast-off like pose is 10" high. Both statues were sculpted by Joe Menna who has done a fantastic job capturing the look of the characters from Prez' artwork. These really do look like they were taken straight off the cover of All-New Teen Titans #1. Starfire's hair blast incorporates translucent plastic towards the bottom at the base which in the like looks like actual fire. The statues can be displayed as individual pieces which is nice for those not interested in completing the whole team, but if you get all 7 statues in the series then the bases are shaped so you can place them together re-creating the Preze cover of All-New Teen Titans #1. Thanks to the folks at DC Collectibles for providing us these two statues so we could take a look. These will be available at comic and specialty shops as well as online at places like BigBadToyStore.com. Check out below our detailed in-hand IMAGE GALLERY for Robin and Starfire which are hitting shelves now.

  10. If you are expecting any of the Justice League characters to make any appearances in Aquaman then you will be disappointed. Director James Wan confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that this first standalone movie will be a true standalone feature, focusing only on Aquaman (Jason Momoa) rather than sprinkling in other DC characters along the way. Wan explains: “I wanted to keep the story to the world of Aquaman and not have to worry about what other characters are doing in their films and how that would affect us. I just thought the simplest way was to keep it clean — keep it simple and let it be an Aquaman story.” Now when it comes down to DC adding some kind of post-credits scene outside the main narrative that nods to other characters wouldn’t surprise. Wan explained that when he was initially in talks for the project, he made it clear to DC and Warner Bros. that he wanted a certain degree of independence to make his own unique film. “I told them I understand and respect that it’s part of a bigger universe but at the end of the day I have to tell the story I want to tell, and I want to develop the character as well,” Wan previously told sources. “It was something the studio was respectful about … .in my movie he starts off one way and becomes very different by the end. It’s a classic hero’s journey. I equate our story to The Sword and the Stone, it’s a very Arthurian story about a journey to becoming king.”
  11. DC Universe’s live-action Doom Patrol series has cast English actor Joivan Wade in the series regular role of Victor Stone aka Cyborg. Led by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder, the Doom Patrol is called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Wade’s Cyborg. Banding together, these rejects find themselves on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe. Doom Patrol‘s Vic Stone in turn is described as “the charming and sarcastic half-human, half-machine superhero known as Cyborg. Vic may be connected to every computer on the world, but he struggles to maintain the connections that make him human. Desperate to gain acceptance from the outside world, Vic harnesses the curse of his cybernetic body and uses his powers as the ultimate hero for the digital age. 22. The 2019 slate of animated DC Universe movies were announced by DC with the first movie being The Death of Superman, which world premieres this week. The second part with the previously announced two-part adaptation, Reign of the Supermen. In the spring 2019, Justice League vs. The Fatal Five, followed by Batman: Hush is being released as the third movie in the summer 2019. As an additional release, there will be a fourth movie consisting of Wonder Woman taking center stage in an original animated movie called Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. Batman: Hush was debuted by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee for a 12-part Batman storyline in the pages of BATMAN #608. The story’s title was “Hush,” and the simple name belied a surprisingly complex story that would feature much of the Dark Knight’s popular rogues’ gallery, hint at the eventual return of the once dead Jason Todd, introduce Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend Tommy Elliot and bring the romantic undertones of Batman’s relationship with Catwoman to the forefront for the first time. Hush will find the series returning to the present day and set in a much more familiar Gotham City. The comic storyline featured popular Bat baddies like Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul and the Joker, but it’s also well known for introducing the villain it’s named after—the bandage-faced Hush. The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen focus on what happens after Superman’s death and introduces such as Steel, Cyborg Superman and Conner Kent. Justice League vs. The Fatal Five will be an original story composed of supercriminals Tharok, Emerald Empress, Validus, Mano and the Persuader introduced in 1967 and are more commonly associated with the Legion of Super-Heroes.
  23. In today's SYFY panel for KRYPTON, it was revealed that the DC character Lobo will join the series when it returns for season two in 2019. Casting has yet to be announced for the villain in season two of the Syfy drama. From the peaceful planet of Czarnia, Lobo was born a devil in the midst of utopia. Loosely translated from his native language, his name means "he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it." As a teenager, he single-handedly slaughtered his entire civilization, becoming the last of his race. Now, this mercenary roams the universe on his motorcycle, getting paid for what he loves most - murder and mayhem."
  24. With the reign of Reign ended in last season’s finale, cast and producers of The CW/Warner Bros. Television’s hit drama Supergirl took the stage at the show’s Comic-Con 2018 panel session to reveal that the DC Super Hero series will welcome three new cast members for the upcoming 2018–19 season — including TV’s first transgender superhero. Transgender activist Nicole Maines (Royal Pains, The Trans List, Becoming Nicole book) will join the show in the series regular role of Nia Nal, aka Dreamer. In addition to Maines, Supergirl fans can look forward to the addition of the following new cast members: series regular April Parker Jones (Jericho, The Last Ship) as Colonel Haley and David Ajala (Dr. Who, Nightflyers, The Dark Knight), who will recur as Manchester Black. Nia Nal (Nicole Maines) is the newest addition to the CatCo reporting team. A soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others, Nia’s journey this season means fulfilling her destiny as the superhero Dreamer (much like Kara came into her own as Supergirl). Hardline career military woman Colonel Haley (April Parker Jones) lives and dies by the orders of her commanding officers. Dedicated to her country, she always acts in its best interest — even if it’s not her own. Based on the iconic DC character, Manchester Black (David Ajala) is the type of guy who brings a knife to a gunfight and still walks away the winner. With a dark past, he easily deflects the brutality of his mission with his charm and sense of humor. These three cast members join the previously announced new series regulars Jesse Rath (who plays the Legion of Super Heroes’ Brainiac-5) and Sam Witwer (who will play Agent Liberty). Supergirl returns for its fourth season on October 14 in its new Sunday 8/7c time period on The CW. Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. Supergirl is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
  25. Robert De Niro is in negotiations to join Joaquin Phoenix in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Joker stand-alone movie from The Hangover helmer Todd Phillips. If a deal is worked out, De Niro would play a talk show host who is somehow instrumental in the Joker’s origin. Phoenix is portraying the DC Comics villain in the movie with Phillips directing from a script he's co-written with Scott Silver. Source: THR
