Peter Safran (“Aquaman,” “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle” films) produced the film. We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong). “Shazam!” also stars Jack Dylan Grazer (“IT”) as Billy’s best friend and ultimate superhero enthusiast, Freddy, and Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond”) as the Wizard. The cast also includes Faithe Herman (TV’s “This is Us”), Grace Fulton (“Annabelle: Creation”), Ian Chen (TV’s “Fresh Off the Boat”), Jovan Armand (TV’s “Hawaii Five-0”), Marta Milans (TV’s “Killer Women”) and Cooper Andrews (TV’s “The Walking Dead”). Firmly set in the DC universe but with his own distinctly fun, family-centric tone, the screenplay is by Henry Gayden, story by Gayden and Darren Lemke, based on characters from DC. Shazam was created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Jeffrey Chernov, Christopher Godsick, Walter Hamada, Geoff Johns, Adam Schlagman, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Dwayne Johnson served as executive producers. Sandberg’s creative team included his “Annabelle: Creation” director of photography Maxime Alexandre, production designer Jennifer Spence, editor Michel Aller and costume designer Leah Butler. The music is by Benjamin Wallfisch (“Blade Runner 2049,” “IT,” “Annabelle: Creation”). A New Line Cinema presentation, “Shazam!” is set for release beginning April 3, 2019. First, on Saturday, March 30, the films—2005’s “Batman Begins,” 2008’s “The Dark Knight” and 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises”—will screen back-to-back at the Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood, California. During an interlude between the second and third films, Nolan will join the audience for a moderated Q&A discussion on the movies. Then on April 13, the Trilogy will screen at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City and AMC Metreon in San Francisco, followed by Cinesphere Ontario Place, Toronto, and IMAX Theatre at the Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis, on April 20, each accompanied by the footage of Nolan’s Los Angeles appearance. In all five cities, all three movies will be seen in the director’s preferred format, IMAX ® 70mm, providing an all-encompassing moviegoing experience. 20. Well we have been wondering what would happen with DC Collector oriented action figures once the news broke last month that Spin Master was taking over a large chunk of the DC license in 2020. Would Mattel continue on with things like DC Multiverse in conjunction with Spin Master doing the more kid-friendly oriented stuff??? The answer seems to be no because today via IGN, McFarlane Toys has announced they have entered into a licensing agreement with Warner Bros to do 6"-12" ultra-posable action figures based on the DC Comics library of characters. Now this doesn't necessarily exclude Mattel from continuing their own figures, and Mattel has yet to make any kind of formal announcement about this, but I think the writing is on the wall now. McFarlane Toys figures generally are not known for articulation, however if you have checked out their recent Fortnite figures (see a review here), then you know the company has been making improvements on that front so we will have to see how they do on that front, and will Todd McFalrane, the man behind the company who is a comic book artist great, how much influence will he have on the actual designs? Would Todd McFarlane inspired DC figures interest you? McFarlane won't be taking over until 2020 so don't expect any reveals from them this year at Toy Fair on the DC front, but SDCC will probably be an interesting time for DC fans. We will be interviewing Todd himself this weekend so you better believe this will be topic of discussion #1 for us when we do.

Meanwhile, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and J’onn (David Harewood) face off against Manchester Black (guest star David Ajala). James’ sister Kelly (guest star Azie Tesfai) comes to town. Tawnia Mckiernan directed the episode written by Derek Simon & Nicki Holcomb (#415). Original Airdate: 3/17/2019

  25. Deadline is reporting that Esai Morales will portray Deathstroke, the fan-favorite assassin and archenemy of Teen Titans leader Dick Grayson. The Titans, the first original programming franchise for the DC Universe subscription steaming site follows the superhero squad that’s led by Batman’s former sidekick, Robin, aka Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), and includes the hot-tempered alien princess Starfire (Anna Diop), the mysterious empath Raven (Teagan Croft), and the green-skinned shape-shifter Beast Boy (Ryan Potter). The character bio from the show’s producers: “Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.” The executive producers of Titans are Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, and Greg Walker.
