  1. THR is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to do a spinoff from the Aquaman movie and have hired newbie scribes Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to pen a horror-tinged script centered on the Trench, the deadly amphibious creatures seen attacking the hero and his love, Mera, in Aquaman. Details about the plot are being kept secret but it will be set in the kingdom of the Trench and will not feature the main cast of Aquaman. The Trench creatures are new to the Aquaman lore, having been introduced in the comics only in 2011 when DC did a revamp of its entire publishing line. They are revealed to be part of the kingdom of Atlantis but when it sunk, inhabitants who were cut off from other survivors and evolved into ravenous monsters. The project, titled The Trench will be produced by James Wan and Peter Safran and will be more modestly budgeted than the normal DC superhero tentpole.
  2. Bullock’s past comes back to haunt him when he and Gordon investigate two murders at Sirens. Meanwhile, Bruce and Alfred explore the tunnels beneath the city, and Penguin and Nygma’s plans to escape are thwarted by the least likely of suspects in the all-new “Nothing’s Shocking” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Feb. 28 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-511) (TV-14 L, V)
  3. Have you ever wondered what your favorite DC Comic characters would look like as Luchadores wrestlers? Well I guess the folks at DC Collectibles have because they have created a new action figure line featuring just that. The first wave will include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Cheetah, Metallo II and Deathstroke. The images below come via THR and they don't specifically list a scale for these, but member of the press last year actually got a sneak-peek at some of these and I want to say they were 7". The figures will start hitting comic and specialty shops in August 2019.
  4. So far we only have these 3 new figures that come as a surprise since we have never heard that they were planning on expanding the Bruce Timm animated series look to other characters. Bellow we have Azrael, Deathstroke and Red Hood. We hope to talk to Jim Fletcher for more details on these.
  5. It feels as if every month, we are reading about a DC superhero movie being developed or a DC superhero movie being canned. Forbes contributor Mark Hughes has taken a look at the future of DC Films such as Aquaman, The Flash, Suicide Squad, Birds Of Prey, Batgirl, Superman and Shazam! Warner Bros. have announced they are cashing in on Aquaman and have hired David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to write the script for the sequel. The sequel is being produced by director James Wan and Peter Safran and have made over $328 million in North America and $784 million internationally. DC has discussed making The Flash movie based on the popularity of the TV show, but has been repeatedly delayed in the past, and recently once again slowed down and pushed back the expected start of production. This project may never get out of first gear. The Suicide Squad sequel is looking to take a whole new direction with having a new cast of characters and avoid direct tie-in to the first film's events. Harley Quinn is not expected to return, and James Gunn's script will be a new approach and rethinking of the property. The Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film has also fallen by the wayside, as has the solo Joker project for Jared Leto's version of the character from Suicide Squad. For the record, Birds of Prey and Batgirl will not be tied together, for those who mistakenly believed the rumors that Barbara Gordon would have a continuing arc through both films. And there is not a Gotham City Sirens project crossing over with Birds of Prey, despite rumors to the contrary. Hughes wanted to point out after discussing the Superman movies that Henry Cavill is not on the verge of making another Superman picture and did not film a secret cameo for Shazam!

  7. Check out a new official teaser for "Doom Patrol," DC Universe's newest original streaming series based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC's most beloved groups of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities -- but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence -- and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same. 8. Well we have been wondering what would happen with DC Collector oriented action figures once the news broke last month that Spin Master was taking over a large chunk of the DC license in 2020. Would Mattel continue on with things like DC Multiverse in conjunction with Spin Master doing the more kid-friendly oriented stuff??? The answer seems to be no because today via IGN, McFarlane Toys has announced they have entered into a licensing agreement with Warner Bros to do 6"-12" ultra-posable action figures based on the DC Comics library of characters. Now this doesn't necessarily exclude Mattel from continuing their own figures, and Mattel has yet to make any kind of formal announcement about this, but I think the writing is on the wall now. McFarlane Toys figures generally are not known for articulation, however if you have checked out their recent Fortnite figures (see a review here), then you know the company has been making improvements on that front so we will have to see how they do on that front, and will Todd McFalrane, the man behind the company who is a comic book artist great, how much influence will he have on the actual designs? Would Todd McFarlane inspired DC figures interest you? McFarlane won't be taking over until 2020 so don't expect any reveals from them this year at Toy Fair on the DC front, but SDCC will probably be an interesting time for DC fans. We will be interviewing Todd himself this weekend so you better believe this will be topic of discussion #1 for us when we do.
