  1. DC Collectibles continues its new line of highly articulated 7” DC Essentials comic based action figures with a second wave of figures that include Superman, Aquaman, Black Manta and Brainiac. The figures incorporate the same style of window-box packaging as the first wave. Each box is color coded and numbered to match the included figure. Superman, number 5 in the series, has a blue box. Brainiac is number 6 with a green box; Aquaman is number 7 with a orange box; and Black Manta is number 8 with a black box. The back of the packaging features another image of the figure, a bio for the DC Essentials line and a look at the other figures in the wave. It also tells us the figures were sculpted by Paul Harding. Two of the four figures in this wave, Aquaman and Black Manta feature accessories while the other two do not. Aquaman comes with a trident made of gold plastic, and Black Manta comes with two swords and a bladed weapon made from a metallic silver plastic. Aquaman’s trident is shorter than the figure, and Black Manta’s weapons fit in the non-removable backpack included with the figure. For the figures themselves, they all use the same basic muscular body as the figures in the first wave with some minor differences. Brainiac and Black Manta have the same type of boots while Superman’s are unique and Aquaman isn’t wearing any. Black Manta has a metallic silver wrist gauntlet sculpted on the right wrist and two rubber-like hoses attached from the helmet which runs to the backpack. While the paint applications on these figures are pretty basic, I like the glossy black used on Manta along with the red on the eyes and neck. The helmet is a good size with some nice sculpting detail on it with line work. Black Manta has two grip hands. Aquaman has chainmail sculpted on his shirt along with a metallic gold belt with an ‘A’ on it. I also like the metallic orange used on the shirt and the green on the pants with gloves matching nicely. The gloves are sculpted so the backs stick out at the top in a point, and he also has the fins sculpted on the back of his lower legs. He has a metallic gold color that is sculpted not just painted. The head sculpt on this figure is pretty solid overall but probably my least favorite of the four figures in the wave. Aquaman has a closed fist for the right hand and a grip for the left. Brainiac has nice sculpting detail on the head with pinkish circles on the top of his head. Except for the boots, all other aspects of the outfit are painted on and the figure features two closed fists. Superman has the best head sculpt of the four figures and one of the best I have seen on a Superman figure in some time. He has black hair with the iconic curl. The figure features the outfit from Action Comics #1000 with the red trunks. The one minor error on the figure is that they forgot to paint the belt loops red. Also, I don’t like the darker red used on the ankle joints which is noticeably different from the glossy red used on the rest of the boots. The cape on Superman which is made of a rubber-like material is a good length and hangs well on the figure. Superman has a closed fist for the right hand and an open hand for the left. Articulation is solid on all four figures including thigh swivels, double-jointed knees and elbows. I especially like how far back you can get Superman’s head back for flight poses. Black Manta has the least head movement due to the large helmet. All four figures are roughly the same height although Black Manta might be a bit taller due to the helmet. The figures are not in scale with other 6” lines like DC Icons, Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse but do match up nicely with all the older DC-based figures that DC Collectibles made before they did DC Icons. At the end of the day, while the figures aren’t perfect, I am enjoying them overall and think if you want a highly articulated DC Comic based line these are worth checking out. Look for the second wave to start hitting comic and specialty shops this week. You can pre-order these figure now from Megalopolis Toys. These figures were provided by DC Collectibles free of charge for purposes of review.

  3. Hey everyone. I had a slew of photos that I was planning on selecting from to post with this video for the people who didn't want to sit though it but I had deleted them off of the hard drive before posting this. The video should show everything you need to see so you can make a good educated decision on whether or not you want to pick this 2-pack up for your self.
  4. Straight from the pages of the bestselling DARK NIGHTS: METAL comics series comes an all-new line of 7” statues from DC Collectibles. These awesomely dark Batman statues honor Greg Capullo’s art from the comic book in stunning detail and are perfect additions to any Metal fan’s collection. Launching in May 2019, the line will recreate eight characters from the series in total, including the fearsome Batman Who Laughs as a deluxe statue. You can also look for a Batman with baby Darkseid statue, as well as the six other Dark Multiverse Batmen: The Red Death, The Drowned, The Dawnbreaker, The Murder Machine, The Merciless and The Devastator. Fans looking to build a perfect—and thoroughly metal—display should note that all of the statues feature uniquely shaped bases that are designed to be configured together in a variety of ways. It’s a DC Collectibles first! Even more, some of the pieces also feature interchangeable parts and articulation, another aspect which helps to set these statues apart from the rest. DARK NIGHTS: METAL BATMAN: THE DAWNBREAKER will be the first statue out of the gate in May 2019 and will be available for purchase at an MSRP of $85.00 . Intricately sculpted by Adrienne Smith, The Dawnbreaker features an interchangeable hand, allowing you to switch between his normal appearance and one where he’s forming a construct. “We wanted to celebrate DC’s successful run of the Metal series through this statue line,” explained DC Collectibles’ creative executive director, Jim Fletcher. “It’s thrilling to see Capullo’s Batmen designs to come to life in 3-D form and we think fans will really enjoy the intricate details and customizable accessories and bases. While not poseable, these statues are basically in scale with all our previous Capullo action figures, so they will be great companion pieces when they are all displayed together.” When asked how it was working with DC Collectibles on this project, superstar artist, Greg Capullo, couldn’t have been more excited. “Is this cool or what!?” said Capullo. “I knew Scott and I had created some really fun characters when we were doing Metal. Seeing them brought to life in this way is an amazing feeling.” With the success of the comics series and the number of metalhead comic fans out there, these statues are likely to move pretty quick. Don’t miss your chance to grab them as they roll out throughout the upcoming year for yourself or any Dark Nights: Metal fan in your life.

Bounding into the Gotham City sky atop a gargoyle with a grapnel gun in her hand, Batgirl is ready for any challenge the night may bring her. 7. DC Collectibles continues its new DC Essentials line with Superman who is featured in the most recent costume the debuted in Action Comics #1000, the blue tights with red trunks, boots and cape. This costume also features the line work around the wrists on the sleeves as seen with the New 52 costume. The figure stands 7” tall which is a larger scale than their previous Icons line as well as other 6” Lines like Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse figures. However, these new figures do match up well with older DC Collectibles New 52 figures and even the few DC figures NECA has done. This particular figure does not have any additional accessories, a key component for this Essentials line. DC Collectibles says this decision helps keep prices down to range between $22 and $25. Something cool like the eye-heat beam effects seen with DC Collectibles Icons Death Of Superman figure would have been cool, but I understand why they are limiting accessories. This Superman has a fairly solid paint job with only two complaints. The loops on Superman's belt match the remainder of the yellow belt instead of the red portrayed in the comics. I also don’t like how visible the difference between the shade of red used on the ankle joints and the glossy red paint used on the feet and upper portion of the boots is. It almost looks like Superman is wearing socks or something. The head sculpt on the figure is very solid in my opinion. It’s actually one of the best looking head sculpts I’ve seen on a Superman figure. The hair is solid black and features the iconic hair curl. The skin tone, eyebrows and eyes have solid paint jobs, and the expression is very Superman like. The S symbol on his chest is painted and not sculpted, but it looks solid. The figure has a closed fist for the right hand and an open hand for the left. The arm length is perhaps a little too long but honestly even in a static pose it doesn’t bother me too much, and the arms work pretty well for things like flight poses. The red cape is made of that typical rubber-type material and is red on both sides. This incarnation of Superman does not feature the S symbol on it. The cape is a good length, and I think it hangs on the figure fairly well. Articulation on the figure is solid as we’ve seen with previous Essential figures. What I really like is you can get the head back thanks to a neck hinge joint for flight poses. This is something that often seems to be missing from Superman figures. You do get that gap at the crotch section which I know annoys some folks, but doesn’t bother me much. I would say that maybe DC Collectibles should consider going back to the same crotch design they were using on the more recent DC Icons figures. I think you have a good range of motion with those without the big gaps. The joints overall on this figure seem pretty tight, but the ankles are a little rubbery causing the figure to wobble a bit when trying to stand which can be annoying. Despite some complaints, I am actually really enjoying this figure and the different kind of flight poses I can achieve. That and the very solid looking head sculpt make this a great addition to anyone’s Superman figure collection. Look for this figure to hit comic and specialty shops later this month. You can pre-order it now at Megalopolis.Toys and BigBadToyStore.com. Thanks to DC Collectibles for sending this figure free of charge for purposes of review. Check out more images for this figure below in our GALLERY! as well as a Toy Talk video on it.
  8. DC Collectibles has launched a new diorama statue line for fans of the classic Marv Wolfman and George Perez run of All-New Teen Titans comics which started in 1982. The entire team of Starfire, Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl and Raven will be featured in the series, and things kick off with Robin and Starfire who are starting to hit comic and specialty shops now. The statues come with detachable bases and Robin who is sculpted in a running like pose stands around 7.37" tall while Starfire who is sculpted in a blast-off like pose is 10" high. Both statues were sculpted by Joe Menna who has done a fantastic job capturing the look of the characters from Prez' artwork. These really do look like they were taken straight off the cover of All-New Teen Titans #1. Starfire's hair blast incorporates translucent plastic towards the bottom at the base which in the like looks like actual fire. The statues can be displayed as individual pieces which is nice for those not interested in completing the whole team, but if you get all 7 statues in the series then the bases are shaped so you can place them together re-creating the Preze cover of All-New Teen Titans #1. Thanks to the folks at DC Collectibles for providing us these two statues so we could take a look. These will be available at comic and specialty shops as well as online at places like BigBadToyStore.com. Check out below our detailed in-hand IMAGE GALLERY for Robin and Starfire which are hitting shelves now.
  9. DC Collectibles has released it's latest batch of solicitations for April 2019. Check out images for all these products below in our GALLERY. DC DESIGNER SERIES: GREEN LANTERN BY IVAN REIS STATUE based on the artwork of IVAN REIS sculpted by TONY CIPRIANO For the latest statue of the DC Designer Series, Ivan Reis has made his own construct of the Green Lantern. Reis served as the primary artist during two of the biggest Green Lantern stories in the last decade—Blackest Night and Brightest Day—and this statue is a wonderful 3-D execution of his work from the page. This statue will be a beloved addition to the shelf or tabletop of any aspiring member of the Green Lantern Corps. • Limited to 5,000 pieces • Figure measures 12.36" tall • Allocations may occur • Final products may differ from images shown • Approximately 4 units per carton ON SALE APRIL 2019 $150.00 US DC ARTISTS ALLEY: BATMAN, ROBIN, THE PENGUIN AND CATWOMAN BY JOE LEDBETTER VINYL FIGURES A skilled and multifaceted creator, Joe Ledbetter (a.k.a. JLed) has experience as an artist, illustrator and (perhaps most importantly for Artists Alley)…a toy designer. Born from humble origins in underground art shows and influenced by 1980s video games, animation and skateboarding, he’s risen in prominence thanks to his crisp, bold lines, a vibrant palette and work that is socially conscious, reflective and human. JLed’s anthropomorphic creature work has been a hallmark of his design, and his take on DC characters is a delightful mix of literalism and playfulness. STANDARD FIGURES • Limited to 3,000 pieces • Individually numbered • Allocations may occur • Final products may differ from images shown • Approximately 4 units per carton ON SALE APRIL 2019 $60.00 US • Each figure sold separately BLACK & WHITE VARIANT FIGURES • Limited to 1,000 pieces • Individually numbered • One Black & White figure may be purchased for every 3 standard figures purchased. • Allocations may occur • Final products may differ from images shown • Approximately 4 units per carton ON SALE APRIL 2019 $60.00 US • Each figure sold separately HARLEY QUINN RED, WHITE & BLACK: HARLEY QUINN BY GUILLEM MARCH designed by GUILLEM MARCH sculpted by JONATHAN MATTHEWS Crafted from the artwork of Guillem March, a multifaceted artist who has produced multiple covers for Harley Quinn comics, the newest entry in the HARLEY QUINN RED, WHITE & BLACK statue line brings a playful, minimalist-tone to the Maid of Mischief. Yet with the detailed design and splashes of color, this figure remains unmistakably Harley. Outfitted in a traditional school uniform—complete with argyle socks—and equipped with her trademark oversize mallet, this carefully crafted polyresin statue is limited to 5,000 pieces. • Limited to 5,000 pieces • Figure measures 6.76" tall • Allocations may occur • Final products may differ from images shown • Approximately 8 units per carton ON SALE APRIL 2019 $80.00 US BATMAN BLACK & WHITE: WHITE KNIGHT BATMAN BY SEAN MURPHY STATUE designed by SEAN MURPHY sculpted by JONATHAN MATTHEWS What if the greatest villain in Gotham City was not The Joker, but Batman? That question is at the core of the epic eight-part limited series BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT, which featured the writing and art of Sean Murphy. This limited-run Black & White statue captures Murphy’s take on an alternate-continuity Dark Knight. Cast in a descending action pose, this is a more unrefined, dangerous and imposing Batman and is a must for fans of Murphy and the Caped Crusader. • Limited to 5,000 pieces • Figure measures 8.2" tall • Allocations may occur • Final products may differ from images shown • Approximately 6 units per carton ON SALE APRIL 2019 $80.00 US DC BOMBSHELLS: BATWOMAN AWAY UNIFORM VARIANT STATUE designed by ANT LUCIA sculpted by TIM MILLER As the slugging star of the Gotham Knights, Kate Kane has rightfully earned the name “Batwoman.” This “Away Uniform” variant allows fans to imagine what Gotham City’s other Dark Knight looks like when she’s not defending her home field. An all-star piece in its own right, it also serves as a great companion piece to the original, 1940s-era women’s baseball-inspired design from Ant Lucia. This 10.5" tall, carefully crafted polyresin statue hits stores in April 2019 and is limited to just 5,000 total figures. • Limited to 5,000 pieces • Figure measures 10.6" tall • Allocations may occur • Final products may differ from images shown • Approximately 4 units per carton ON SALE APRIL 2019 $125.00 US DC CORE: THE FLASH PVC STATUE sculpted by JAY KUSHWARA Putting the “force” in the Speed Force, the latest statue from the DC Core line has the legendary hero cracking the pavement with the impact of his strides. 10. DC Collectibles has released info and images for their 2018 San Diego Comic Con reveals including a new Batman: The Animated Seires Batman and Batcycle set, new Aqaman Movie Statues, BTAS figures, Justice League Animated Series figures, DC Essentials and more. Check out details and images for everything down below. DC Collectibles, the award-winning line of collectibles from DC Entertainment, will make a huge splash at Comic-Con International: San Diego with exciting new statue and action figure reveals, headlined by a stunning statue series based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly anticipated Aquaman film, hitting theaters December 21, 2018. DC Collectibles will also expand its bestselling Batman: The Animated Series action figure line and add new artists to the company’s cutting-edge DC Artists Alley designer vinyl collection. New character additions are also planned for several of DC Collectibles’ most popular action figure and statue lines, including DC Bombshells, Batman: Black & White, DC Essentials and more. Making waves just in time for the King of Atlantis’ big-screen debut, DC Collectibles will release three new statues based on the character appearances in the upcoming Aquaman film. Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Amber Heard’s Mera and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta will be re-imagined with impeccable attention to detail as individual 12" sculptures. The statues will come aboard store shelves beginning November 2018. DC Collectibles will also add new characters to its fan-favorite Batman: The Animated Series (BTAS) action figure line and debut the company’s first-ever Batcycle, as seen in the award-winning TV series. Scaled for 6" action figures, the Batcycle measures 9.25" long and includes a variety of light-up features and two free-spinning wheels that enable the bike to turn. The double-sided display base allows fans to “park” the Batcycle in the Batcave or on the streets of Gotham City. The Batcyle set will also include one BTAS Batman action figure that features two interchangeable helmet heads, new articulation points that allow the character to “ride” the Batcycle and a poseable cape. DC Collectibles will also release new individual BTAS action figures in 2019, including Two-Face, Gray Ghost, H.A.R.D.A.C. and Scarecrow. Each character will feature unique accessories based on their appearance in the animated series. In addition to new Batman: The Animated Series action figures, DC Collectibles will also debut 6" action figures based on the Justice League animated series that aired from 2001 to 2004. The Justice League animated figures will be available exclusively for members of the DC Universe digital subscription service beginning in fall 2018. “Our animated action figures are a staple of DC Collectibles, and we’re so excited to expand the line into the Justice League animated series and add more Batman: The Animated Series characters that fans have been asking for,” said Jim Fletcher, executive creative director of DC Collectibles at DC Entertainment. “As this line continues, we are constantly challenging ourselves to think of new ways to bring the animated series to life. We hope fans enjoy giving their figures a ride on the new Batcycle and recreating their favorite scenes from the show with the intricately detailed display base.” Also in 2019, DC Collectibles will welcome two new popular artists—Joe Ledbetter and Chrissie Zullo— to the DC Artists Alley line. Both artists will bring their unique art style to the DC Universe, re-imagining some of DC’s most iconic characters as 7" designer vinyl figures. Ledbetter, known for his distinct bold lines and vibrant palette, will put his signature spin on Batman, Penguin, Catwoman and Robin. Zullo will debut her dreamy and whimsical transformations of Batgirl, Hawkgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Woman. “I’m a huge Batman fan and to have the opportunity to work with DC Collectibles on a set of Batman characters is a huge deal in my world,” said Ledbetter. “I just love the idea of a bat in a Batman suit, a penguin as the Penguin, etc. There’s something there that’s quite funny and interesting and really excites me. I like to think that these animal Batman characters inhabit a parallel universe where Gotham City is entirely populated by anthropomorphic critters, including the Caped Crusader himself. I think the fun, enthusiasm and love of Batman, Robin, Penguin and Catwoman will shine through on these designer toys and I hope they find a special place on collector’s shelves.” “Working on DC Artists Alley is a total dream come true,” said Zullo. “Not only do I get to work with the great people at DC Collectibles and an incredible sculptor, Irene Matar, but the process of seeing my drawings come to life in 3-D was so much fun and such a great collaborative experience. I knew I wanted my designs to be almost animated, full of life and able to highlight each character's personality traits, while still keeping the designs playful and confident. I think everyone who worked on this project nailed it, and I can't wait for fans to see them in person.” Ledbetter and Zullo’s DC Artists Alley figures will follow the 2018 designer vinyls illustrated by Chris Uminga, HaiNaNu “Nooligan” Saulque and Sho Murase. Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con can pick up the convention exclusive of Uminga’s DC Artists Alley Batman figure in three different variant editions at the Entertainment Earth Booth #2343 or pre-order the figures online here. On tap for 2019, DC Collectibles will release a new Bat-Family Multi-Part Statue featuring Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood. The statue set is designed by the award-winning DC Collectibles design team and includes the same versatile bases as the New Teen Titans Multi-Part Statue set that debuts in August 2018. Fans can display one or a few of their favorite Bat-Family characters independently, or for those wanting to own the whole set, the bases fit perfectly together to create one cohesive image. Batman is the first character to hit shelves in March 2019 and the remaining characters will be released throughout the year. Each figure will be available for purchase exclusively during San Diego Comic-Con at the Entertainment Earth booth (#2343). The artist-focused 6.75’’ designer vinyl line is inspired by the popular “Artist Alley” convention experience and allows innovative artists to put their eccentric spin on DC’s most popular characters. The Comic-Con 2018 exclusive figures are sculpted by Joe Menna and painted by Michael Cowart. Each edition includes three Batman character art cards and is offered at varying limited quantities ranging in price from $60-$100. The ultra-limited Matte Black and Gold variant features an additional original sketch of either Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, or The Joker, hand drawn by Uminga. The convention exclusives will first be sold during San Diego Comic-Con 2018 at the Entertainment Earth Booth (#2343). If supplies remain after the show, pre-orders will be filled and shipped this August. Starting today, fans can pre-order their figures here. 16. Hey guys, first post here and I figured I'd kick it off with a top 5 discussion! I want to know what everyones top 5 DC figures are from your collections. Here's mine: #1 Mezco Exclusive TDKR Batman #2 PAK Tetsuya Catwoman #3 PAK Arkham Knight Harley Quinn #4 DC Collectibles Icons Harley Quinn #5 Mafex BvS Batman
  17. EDIT: Mistake in title...what is *the* quality control. I'm considering starting to pick up the DC Icons line since they're covering a lot of my favorites in this first year. I haven't bought a DC Collectibles figure since they were DC Direct, how is the quality control at the company these days, particularly on Icons and the Capullo Designer items? My older DC Direct figs suffered from bad QC. I've heard of breakage on the BTAS line, and a few on the Last Rites Icons Batman, but was curious what other toy line you could compare the build quality to (such as NECA/ Hasbro/ Mattel/ etc) and if breakages are common? I'm really interested in this line but don't want to start collecting if they are super fragile (I tinker with my figures constantly).
