  1. Join CBS All Access and fans from around the world for a virtual celebration of Star Trek Day on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The virtual event will bring the “Star Trek” community together and provide fans with exclusive programming and initiatives including panels with the cast and creatives from nine “Star Trek” television series, exclusive news from the “Star Trek Universe” on CBS All Access, curated “Star Trek” series marathons and more. The panels will dive into “Star Trek” stories from years past to present and offer exclusive sneak peeks into what’s next in the “Star Trek Universe” on CBS All Access. The panels will serve as the global centerpiece of Star Trek Day, and in addition, “Star Trek” updates, announcements and footage will be showcased throughout. The panels will include the cast and creatives from the following “Star Trek” television series: STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, with series stars Sonequa Martin-Green and David Ajala and co-showrunners and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise. CBS has announced their upcoming Fall programming schedule and the first full season of CBS All Access' STAR TREK: DISCOVERY* makes its broadcast debut Thursday, Sept. 24 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) as a special limited promotional run prior to its third season return on CBS All Access. The third season of the hit series, starring Sonequa Martin-Green, is scheduled to launch Thursday, Oct. 15 exclusively on CBS All Access, ViacomCBS' subscription video on-demand and live streaming service. After following Commander Burnham into the wormhole in the second season finale, season three of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY finds the U.S.S.   6. CBS All Access today announced a series order for STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS, based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series will feature fan favorites from season two of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The series will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the decade before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy. The series premiere was written by Akiva Goldsman with the story by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. Goldsman, Kurtzman and Lumet will serve as executive producers in addition to Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth. Aaron Baiers, Akela Cooper and Davy Perez will serve as co-executive producers. Akiva Goldsman will remain an executive producer and a key part of the creative team on STAR TREK: PICARD as well. The series will be produced by CBS Television Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. I believe these promotional character posters are designed for international viewers as the premiere date is set for January 24th instead of January 23rd.   9. CBS All Access dropped a new trailer for Captain Jean-Luc Picard's very own stand-alone series, Star Trek: Picard today during their panel at 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. The Star Trek: Picard series follows the captain in the next chapter of his life. Sir Patrick Stewart plays the lead of Captain Jean-Luc Picard with Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd and newcomer Evan Evagora also star. Michael Chabon is credited as showrunner and executive producer along with Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman, Stewart, James Duff, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth. Producers and cast revealed that Picard will also feature fellow The Next Generation cast Brent Spiner, Jonathan Del Arco and Jonathan Frakes and Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan in the new series. The panel for Star Trek: Lower Decks begins... The CBS All Access animated comedy series takes a look at the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships. The first season is set for a 10-episode run that will premiere in 2020. Executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin and show creator and executive producer Mike McMahan take the stage and introduce the voice cast of the series which included Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid, who joined them on the stage. Newsome will play Mariner, a no-nonsense ensign who gets the job done. She’s good at what she does, but doesn’t care. Quaid will be playing Boimler, the by-the-book ensign who constantly gets in his own way. The two are polar opposites, so the pair clashes more often than not. Noel Wells will play ensign Tendi a huge Starfleet fan who is excited to be on a ship while Eugene Cordero will play ensign Rutherford, an engineer who is amazing at engineering stuff, but doesn’t usually solve the problem by the end of the episode. The cast also includes Fred Tatasciore as Lt. Shaxs, Dawnn Lewis as Captain Freeman, Gillian Vigman as Dr. T’ana.   10. Star Trek: Short Treks returns with six new shorts starting this fall, only on CBS All Access. Debuted at San Diego Comic Con during the Star Trek: Universe panel in Hall H, Star Trek: Discovery season two favorites Ethan Peck (Spock) and Rebecca Romijn (Number One) announced that they, along with Captain Christopher Pike, played by Anson Mount, will be returning to the “Star Trek” franchise with three U.S.S. Enterprise-focused Star Trek: Short Treks. The trailer also revealed the titles for the six upcoming new shorts: “Ask Not,” “Q&A,” “The Trouble with Edward,” “The Girl Who Made the Stars,” “Ephaim and Dot” and “Children of Mars.”

  12. CBS All Access today announced the third season renewal of its hit original series STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. It was announced that Michelle Paradise will join Alex Kurtzman as co-showrunner of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY's third season. In addition to his role as showrunner of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, Kurtzman will continue to oversee the expansion of the growing "Star Trek" universe for CBS Studios. "Michelle joined us midway through season two and energized the room with her ferocious knowledge of 'Trek,'" said Alex Kurtzman. "Her grasp of character and story detail, her drive and her focus have already become essential in ensuring the 'Trek' legacy, and her fresh perspective always keeps us looking forward. Prior to serving as co-executive producer on STAR TREK: DISCOVERY's second season, Michelle Paradise was co-executive producer on the television series "The Originals" on The CW. She also wrote for the series "Rogue" on the Audience network and The CW's "Hart of Dixie." Additionally, Paradise created, wrote and starred in the MTV/Logo series "Exes & Ohs." After answering a distress signal from the U.S.S. Enterprise, season two of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY finds the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery joining forces with Captain Christopher Pike on a new mission to investigate seven mysterious red signals and the appearance of an unknown being called the Red Angel. While the crew must work together to unravel their meaning and origin, Michael Burnham is forced to face her past with the return of her estranged brother, Spock. STAR TREK: DISCOVERY season two cast members include Sonequa Martin-Green (Commander Michael Burnham), Michelle Yeoh (Philippa Georgiou), Doug Jones (Commander Saru), Shazad Latif (Ash Tyler), Anson Mount (Captain Christopher Pike), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Commander Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Ensign Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), Mary Chieffo (L'Rell), and Ethan Peck (Spock). The first six episodes of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY's second season are currently available to stream on CBS All Access. All new episodes will be available on demand weekly after 8:30 PM, ET on Thursdays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers in the U.S., and are distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix in 188 countries and in Canada on Bell Media's Space channel and OTT service Crave.   13. CBS All Access today announced plans to further expand the "Star Trek" universe with a new live-action series in development starring Michelle Yeoh. The series will expand on Yeoh's current role as a member of Starfleet's Section 31 division, a shadow organization within the Federation, on STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, which debuts its second season Thursday, Jan. 17 exclusively on CBS All Access in the U.S., and is distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix in 188 countries and in Canada on Bell Media's Space channel and OTT service CraveTV. The series will be produced by CBS Television Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers. Aaron Baiers will serve as co-executive producer along with Bo Yeon Kim, and Erika Lippoldt will also write the series. "Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries, and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades. As a human, I adore her. As an actor, I revere her," said Alex Kurtzman. Michelle Yeoh is recognized as one of the greatest and the most successful actresses from the east. She can most recently be seen starring in John M. Chu's romantic comedy "Crazy Rich Asians," and in CBS' STAR TREK: DISCOVERY. The former Bond girl is best known for her roles in Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and its sequel, Rob Marshall's "Memoirs of a Geisha," Roger Spottiswoode's "Tomorrow Never Dies" and Danny Boyle's "Sunshine." Michelle also starred in Luc Besson's critically acclaimed "The Lady" and voiced a role in the DreamWorks animated hit "Kung Fu Panda 2." The development of this new untitled series is the latest expansion of the "Star Trek" franchise. In addition to the hit original series STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, returning with season two on Thursday, Jan. 17, and STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS, a series of short stories tied to STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and the overall "Star Trek" universe, CBS has announced a new untitled "Star Trek" series featuring Sir Patrick Stewart, reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, as well as its first animated series, STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, developed by Emmy Award winner Mike McMahan ("Rick and Morty").
