  1. Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the duo team behind Batgirl, the DC film from Warner Bros. starring Leslie Grace. were interviewed by Insider and expressed how they felt about the studio canceling the film. The filmmakers felt their version of Batgirl “was more grounded. More like Tim Burton’s Gotham City.” The film was scheduled to be released after The Flash and the team was disappointed that audiences were not able to see Michael Keaton return to reprise his role of Batman in their version.

  3. Actress Leslie Grace posted a 15-second video of behind-the-scenes footage from the scrapped film Batgirl. Grace starred as the title character alongside co-stars including Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser. Warner Bros. shelved the film last month, with a cost of between $70 and $100 million loss and deemed "irredeemable" by test screen audiences. The studio claimed the film would never be seen. https://www.tiktok.com/@iamlesliegrace/video/7146999456255249706
  4. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav talked about his commitment to building a 10-year plan for DC during a recent second-quarter call. When questioned about the recent canceling of Batgirl, the CEO told investors, “Our ambition to is to bring Warners back and produce great, high-quality films..." “We can build a long-term sustainable growth business out of DC. We’re not releasing a film before it’s ready.” Zaslav wanted investors to know that “The focus is to make these films as good as possible.” The CEO believes that it's a waste of money in making expensive direct-to-streaming movies. “There’s no comparison when you launch a film in motion picture theaters,” he said. “Expensive films going to streaming … can’t find an economic value for it.” He wants DC to focus more on theatrical releases and that there will be several movies set to be launched with shorter release times. Investors wanted to know how Zaslav feels about all the trouble with Flash star Ezra Miller and he informed them that he was still behind the movie. “We have seen The Flash, Black Adam, and Shazam 2,” the CEO said, “We are very excited about them. We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better.” Sources are claiming that the Flash movie recently did a test-marketing screening and it received amazing marks and was highly accepted by audiences. 5. Deadline has confirmed that Michael Keaton will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming superhero movie Batgirl. Keaton will co-star alongside Leslie Grace, J.K. Simmons, and Brendan Fraser in the Warner Bros. and DC feature. No word if Keaton will be just playing the character of Bruce Wayne or just appearing as Batman or playing both roles. Keaton will also be suiting up in The Dark Knight costume for The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, which is scheduled for release in theaters on November 4th, 2022. Plot details about the Batgirl are being kept secret, it centers on Barbara Gordon (Grace)—the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner Jim Gordon. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing the film from a script by Christina Hodson.
  6. Deadline has confirmed that Ivory Aquino has signed on to play the character of Alysia Yeoh for the HBO Max version of Batgirl. Aquino will play Barbara’s best friend, bartender Alysia Yeoh—the first major transgender character ever to appear in a live-action film adaptation of DC comics. Plot details about the Batgirl are being kept secret, it centers on Barbara Gordon (Grace)—the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner Jim Gordon. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing the film from a script by Christina Hodson. The actor is credited with the Netflix series When They See Us and Tales of the City, and in ABC’s When We Rise. 7. It's Wednesday and you know what that means... ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at the brand new Arkham Knight Batgirl one sixth scale figure from Hot Toys. Like mentioned in the Harley Quinn review from 2 weeks ago, Hot Toys decided to release both figures really close to each other in order to make sure that you don't start the year thinking you will be able to save some money. Harley was pretty great, so how does Batgirl fare? Sober box art, as all the other Arkham Knight figures. Barbara comes in her Arkham Knight suit (you don't say?!) along with 8 extra hands, an additional mouth plate to give her an ever so slightly different expression, 2 batarangs, a grapnel gun with 2 different batclaws (rope or no rope), and a remote hacking device, with 'hologram' screen. The body of the figure is a mix of both seamless and normal articulations. The top part is seamless, the costume is just molded on the rubber and the shoulders, arms and abs move just like a seamless figure (hinged), and then, we can see the leg articulations. Weird choice, but seamless legs with that suit would have been tricky, so it's understandable. She has "real" hair which is always kinda meh to me. I can never really style the Barbie doll hair nicely, but people who know what they are doing might get something nice out of it. The cape is just like on the Arkham Knight Batman figure: a total mess. It has wires in it (seven of them), and it looks pretty bad when you look at the back of the figure, but can look great for pictures and poses from the front. The 2 mouth plates go from "resting b**** face" to "slightly smirking". At first, I thought I got the same plate twice, but it turns out there is a very minimal difference. Arkham Knight Batgirl is an otherwise good figure, looks great, and that cape with the yellow inside is definitely eye-catching (from the front). Tons of fun poses for Barbara Gordon, who miraculously managed to stand up from her wheelchair from one chapter of the game to another (The figure is based on the DLC "A Matter of Family", which happens in the past). More news at 11:00... "Joker's got my father!"
  8. Deadline is reporting that DOOM Patrol alum Brendan Fraser has been cast in the Warner Bros and DC Films’ Batgirl. It hasn't been confirmed but sources from within believe Fraser would play the supervillain Firefly. Jacob Scipio recently joined the cast, with Leslie Grace on board to play Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl. The movie is being shot for HBO Max by Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah with the storyline based on Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, who will be the character behind the cape in this version. Gordon is the most established version of the Batgirl character and was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane. Christina Hodson penned the script with Kristin Burr producing.
  9. J. K. Simmons is in negotiations to reprise his role as Commissioner James Gordon but this time for Batgirl, Warner Bros.’ feature for HBO Max. This news comes after we reported that 'In the Heights' breakout Leslie Grace was picked to star in the titular role. The project is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a script by Christina Hodson. Kristin Burr is producing. Plot details are being kept secret but the feature is looking at a 2022 release on the WarnerMedia streaming service. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
  10. Sources from Warner Bros. and DC Films have informed Deadline that executives are currently testing actresses starting this week for the highly coveted title role of Batgirl. Talent expected to test for the role includes Isabella Merced, Zoey Deutch, and Leslie Grace. Haley Lu Richardson’s name was mentioned, but she might have bowed out before the test process. Batgirl is set to be shown on HBO Max from Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The script comes from Christina Hodson with Kristin Burr producing. Plot details are being kept quiet but it is known that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, will be the character behind the cape in this version. Gordon is the most established version of the Batgirl character and was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.
  11. The directing duo behind the 2020 box-office hit Bad Boys For Life, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have been tapped to direct Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s Batgirl movie. Only plot details known is the film is based on Barbra Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon. No word on additional characters. Christina Hodson originally penned the script for the movie being planned for HBO Max. Kristin Burr is producing. Joss Whedon was to direct but stepped down from the project back in April 2018.
