Sources from within have informed The Hollywood Reporter that the video game, movie, and anime franchise Tomb Raider is in the development stages for Amazon Prime and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is attached to write the scripts for the series. Waller-Bridge will not be starring in the TV adaptation but will be the executive producer alongside Ryan Andolina, and Amanda Greenblatt. Andolina and Greenblatt launched their own production company and have a deal with Amazon. Dmitri M. Johnson will also executive produce via his dj2 company. The Tomb Raider franchise focuses on the fictional British archaeologist Lara Croft, who travels around the world searching for lost artifacts and infiltrating dangerous tombs and ruins. Gameplay generally focuses on the exploration of environments, solving puzzles, navigating hostile environments filled with traps, and fighting enemies. Numerous video games were voiced by Camilla Luddington, Keeley Hawes, and Minnie Driver, and two movies in 2001 and 2018, starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander have been released. Hayley Atwell also brought the character to life in a Netflix anime series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill is putting DC Studio behind him and jumping over to Amazon as he's attached to star and executive produce a series adaptation of Warhammer 40,000, the popular science-fiction fantasy miniature wargame. Amazon and Games Workshop, producers of the game are in the final talks after months of negotiations and fending off rival companies that also sought the rights. As of now, there are no writers or showrunners for the series, although Vertigo Entertainment is attached to also executive produce. Warhammer is akin to Dungeons & Dragons — dice are involved in the playing — but also features intricate miniatures that players can place and move around a model-constructed battlefield or world. Games Workshop in the 1980s made miniatures for D&D and launched the game in 1987. It has become the most popular miniature wargame in the world and spawned many imitators. The game’s setting is 40,000 years into the future where things are dark indeed. Human civilization has stopped progressing and is in an unending war with aliens and magical beings, with gods and demons figuring into a theological class system. The humans make up the Imperium of Man, which is militaristic. A race of skeleton-like androids is known as the Necron; there is an elvish race known as Aeldari as well as Orks; Tyranids are nasty aliens, and the T’au is a blue-skinned alien race that may offer some hope. The project is still in the early stages and Amazon has yet to close the deal.

Prime Video starts off the new year with the release of the official trailer for The Legend of Vox Machina, the upcoming highly anticipated adult animated fantasy-adventure series from Critical Role and Titmouse. The first season will consist of 12 episodes, with three episodes premiering every week starting January 28 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. About The Legend of Vox Machina: Based on the beloved characters and adventures of Critical Role's first live streamed tabletop role-playing game (RPG) campaign, The Legend of Vox Machina is an animated fantasy-adventure series for adults that follows Vox Machina, a band of misfits with a fondness for boozing and brawling. In a desperate attempt to pay off their mounting bar tab, these unlikely heroes end up on a quest to save the realm of Exandria from dark magical forces. From a sinister necromancer to a powerful curse, the group confronts a variety of obstacles that not only test their skills but also the strength of their bond. The Legend of Vox Machina is a production of Amazon Studios, Critical Role, and Titmouse for Prime Video. The series stars Critical Role founders and cast members Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part II), Taliesin Jaffe (Final Fantasy XIV), Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us), Liam O'Brien (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Matthew Mercer (Overwatch), Marisha Ray (Final Fantasy XV), Sam Riegel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Travis Willingham (Marvel's Avengers). The Critical Role cast also serves as executive producers, alongside Brandon Auman (Star Wars: Resistance), Chris Prynoski (Metalocalypse), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax), and Ben Kalina (Big Mouth). Critical Role is a story-driven media company created by a group of nerdy-ass voice actors that started out sitting around a table together as friends creating epic stories. In 2019, they launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce a 22-minute animated special based on the characters and adventures of Vox Machina, Critical Role's original live streamed tabletop RPG campaign. They met their initial funding goal within minutes, and thanks to Critical Role's passionate fanbase, the campaign continued to gain traction, raising over $11.3 million and becoming one of the most funded Film & Video projects in Kickstarter history. The fan support allowed Critical Role to expand the special into a 10-episode season. When Amazon Studios picked up the series, it built on that record-breaking support by ordering an additional 14 episodes, bringing the total number of episodes to 24 across two seasons, which will stream exclusively on Prime Video.

Amazon Prime Video has announced that Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) will be joining the cast of the hit series The Boys for Season 3. The casting news was made on Ackles' social media account. Ackles will portray Soldier Boy - the original Superhero. After Soldier Boy fought in World War II, he became the first super celebrity, and a mainstay of American culture for decades. Showrunner and Executive Producer of The Boys Eric Kripke stated, "When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream - to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I'm happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he'll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can't wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys." The pick-up of Season 3 of The Boys was announced during their SDCC panel on July 23rd. Season 2 will premiere on Friday, September 4th, with new episodes available weekly through October 9th. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation's paranoia. The Supes of The Seven also include Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell).
