  1. It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at the latest entry in the DC Comics Batman: Hush line from MAFEX, the Stealth Jumper Batman. MAFEX and Batman; Hush, name a more iconic duo. I'll wait. With the 5 previous figures from that line being as great as they were, it was time for MAFEX to release a figure that's a little more mid, and the Stealth Jumper Batman is as dispensable as it gets! If you already have the normal Batman, you don't really need it. Only completists (such as your truly) and people who like the design will get it. That suit appears in 3 panels in the entire Batman: Hush story arc (and is in the dark in 2 of them). But how is the figure, though? The Stealth Jumper Batman comes with 5 extra set of hands, and 2 batarangs. He looks like he was taken straight out of the comic book, as is tradition with MAFEX. The sculpt and details of the suit are perfect, and the figure is highly articulated, as we are used to with the Medicom brand. The texture of the suit, and the details on the breathing apparatus are great. He even has a parachute bag hidden under his cape. All in all, it's not a bad figure at all. It has a better (and smaller) cape than the normal Batman, which is definitely an improvement. We can't really move his head, because of the breathing thingy, only slightly turn it to the left or right, unfortunately. Other than that, with all the extra hands, there's tons of display possibilities. Now, did we really need that figure, over the upcoming Harley Quinn, Huntress or Nightwing? Not really. The Stealth Jumper Batman already had an action figure in the third wave of DC Direct Batman: Hush figures in 2005, and if i remember correctly, that figure was peg-warming pretty hard back then, and can still be found for around the same price on eBay 17 years later. The DC Direct line had 15 figures (3 waves of 5), and MAFEX has released 6 of them so far, with 3 more already announced. Could it be that if they made the Stealth Jumper Batman after all the other "heavy hitters", they might have not sold it as well? How about the remaining 6 figures from DC Direct (Poison Ivy, Riddler, Scarecrow, Ras al Ghul, Commissioner Gordon, Alfred)? Are they also coming? Are we going to get a MAFEX Alfred?! So many questions! More news at 11:00... "Why are you doing this?" (Talia al Ghul to Batman, in the only panel where he wears that suit. Also, me to MAFEX).

  3. Another day, another Batman figure announced by McFarlane Toys. The DC Multiverse Arkham City Batman and the Page Punchers Injustice 2 Batman figures were announced in the last week, and today, a new DC Multiverse Gold Label Batman The Animated Series 30th Anniversary figure with diorama set has been revealed as part of the Target Fall Geek-Out event. Collectors immediately rushed to their keyboards to complain... "Todd McFarlane needs to stop to make so many Batman figures!" said Josh, a Marvel Legends collector with 48+ Wolverine figures. "We need more variety in the line" replied a Star Wars The Black Series collector with over 18 different Boba Fett. "That's way too many Batman figures!" said Johnny, a SH Figuarts Dragon Ball Z collector with 17+ Goku figures. "At least, we don't have that problem with Mezco...", said a collector with around 12 different Gomez figures. We will keep you informed as more Batman figures will be announced. More news at 11:00... "Where is my figure of *insert obscure character*, Todd?" *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  4. Ok, this took a little time, mostly because of the belt. It was removed from a bendy figure then, I repainted the gray to a lighter tone and the blue to the Super Powers colors. Hope you enjoy this and leave feedback. Who's next? You decide. (actually I, will. But more to come.)
  5. Just a simple repaint of the recent McFarlane toys Super Powers Batman in black. Also painted the belt a slightly darker desert yellow and added a better kenner Dark Knight collection black cape. ( Get rid of the ribbon material, Todd.) Hope you enjoy, and leave feedback. More to come.
  6. It's Wednesday and you know what that means... ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at the resurrected Batman: The Adventures Continue line by DC Direct, under the McFarlane Toys banner. I have been a huge fan of the Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures lines from DC Direct since the very first wave, and bought every single one of them as they came out, so I was devastated when they announced DC Direct was gone, and that they wouldn't release the last few figures that were announced. Fast forward to a few years later, when McFarlane Toys announced that he was reviving DC Direct, and i was full of hope again! First, the Batman version 2 (cel shaded). Batman version 2 comes with 3 extra pairs of hands, a batarang, a grapnel launcher and a hand with the grapnel launcher in it. This figure is pretty much a repaint of the very first figure from the DC Direct line from 2014, but with some nicer paint apps, and cel shading (the same cel shading as the Marvel Legends VHS Wolverine, complete with shadows on the inner thigh making it look like he soiled himself). This figure has never been known to have amazing articulations, but man, does it look good on a shelf. I've always liked his presence, the accurate design making it look straight out of the animated series (which they didn't manage to reproduce with the Animated Series one, in my opinion. There's something off about it but I can't place my finger on it). Comparison pics with the original DC Direct one from 2014, and the MAFEX version from last year. Catwoman is another straight repaint from the one from the very first wave from 2014, except the paint apps are a lot better (and she doesn't come with Isis the cat...). Also, we finally get an unmasked Selina Kyle head! The unmasked head had only been available with the Mondo 1:6 version, so it's nice to finally have it in 1:12. She also comes with 2 extra pairs of hands and a whip. As all the female releases from that line, this figure feels very brittle, since it's the same design as in the Animated Series, with really thin legs and arms. Comparison pics with the original DC Direct one from 2014. The Batman Who Laughs is one of those figures from that line of a character that never appeared in the Animated Series, but here is what he would look like if he did, as if Bruce Timm designed it for the show (just like Red Hood, Deathstroke, Azrael and the Armored Batman in the 2 previous waves). The Batman Who Laughs comes with 2 extra hands, a mace and a chain batarang. To me, this is where this line is fun, when they bring characters that weren't in the show with that design. I could do without the repaints, even. Give us more of those! The Batman Who Laughs looks amazing in the Animated Series style. There were also a Vampire Batman, Talon, Flashpoint Batman and Hush, along with cel shaded repaints of Batgirl and Tim Drake Robin that had been shown at various conventions before DC Direct shut down, so here's hoping that these will see the light of day as well! More news at 11:00... The Adventures Continue... now with cel shading!
  7. It's Wednesday and you know what that means... ToyFarce reviews! This week, we're having a look at the Joker figure from the New Batman Adventures animated series from MAFEX. Last november, we did a review of the Batman figure from that same line (which can be found here), and it only took about 8 months for another figure to come out (sweet, sweet delays). Like the Batman figure, this is not exactly the design that we wanted (The Animated Series), but it is the one from The New Batman Adventures show, which are not as celebrated... The box is the usual square-ish box that we get from MAFEX, with window at the front. At first glance, it looks like this figure doesn't have much accessories, but there are a few more hands hidden behind the cardboard. Like the Batman before him, the box uses a lot of blue, like the DC Collectibles line used to do (blue = New Adventures, red= Animated Series). Hopefully, we'll see some red boxes soon! The Clown Prince of Crime comes with 5 extra sets of hands + a pointing one (13 hands in total!), another headsculpt, a wallet, dollar bills, a paper plane made with a dollar bill, and a knife. No gun, obviously, even if a fake gun with a flag that says 'bang' would have been a fun accessory for him. This is a pretty weird figure for MAFEX, who usually have great articulations, but that Joker cannot do much. No bicep swivels and no thigh swivels means you can't really pose him in a lot of different ways. I get that it was probably to avoid ugly cuts on the purple suit, but it's still disappointing. The figure can crunch forward a bit, if you move the belt out of the way to allow more movement, but it's still not much, since the jacket would hinder more movement. The butterfly joints also look a bit weird, and act as extensions to the suit (pointy shoulders). So considering all that, paying the full MAFEX price for a figure that cannot do half of what the usual MAFEX figures can do kinda stings. It does look great, however, and comes with fun accessories, reminiscent of 'Joker's Millions', that episode where the Joker admits that he's crazy enough to fight with Batman, but not with the IRS. "If I don't pay my taxes, I'll go to jail!", he said. With the MAFEX Hush line being one of the best Batman line out there, it's kinda disappointing that the same effort was not put into the New Batman Adventures line. Let's hope that the next ones will have a bit more work put into them (and that they use the Animated Series designs instead!). More news at 11:00... I'm crazy enough to take on Batman; but IRS? No thank you!

  10. Variety is reporting that during the 37th Guadalajara Int’l Film Festival (FICG), HBO Max Latin America announced they are unveiling an upcoming animated feature “Batman Azteca: Choque de Imperios” (“Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires”). This will be the first-ever collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation, Particular Crowd, Mexico’s Anima, and “Book of Life” producer Chatrone. The original, Spanish-language animated film places the iconic DC superhero against the backdrop of Aztec Mexico and immerses viewers in the enigmatic culture of Mesoamerica. The tale centers on a young Aztec boy, Yohualli Coatl, whose father, village leader Toltecatzin, is murdered by Spanish Conquistadors. Coatl flees to Tenochtitlan to warn King Moctezuma and his high priest, Yoka, of looming danger. “Using the temple of Tzinacan, the bat god, as a lair, Yohualli trains with his mentor and assistant, Acatzin, developing equipment and weaponry to confront the Spaniard invasion, protect Moctezuma’s temple, and avenge his father’s death,” the synopsis reads. The feature is being directed by Juan Meza-León with Anima’s José C. García de Letona and Fernando De Fuentes serving as producers alongside Chatrone’s Aaron D. Berger and Carina Schulze. Sam Register and Tomás Yankelevich serve as executive producers. Alejandro Díaz Barriga, an expert on Mesoamerican studies and the ethnic history of Mexico and the Andean region, will work closely with the creative team to make certain that the indigenous representation portrayed in the film is appropriate and relevant. The animated feature will be produced entirely in Mexico.

  15. Deadline has confirmed that Michael Keaton will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming superhero movie Batgirl. Keaton will co-star alongside Leslie Grace, J.K. Simmons, and Brendan Fraser in the Warner Bros. and DC feature. No word if Keaton will be just playing the character of Bruce Wayne or just appearing as Batman or playing both roles. Keaton will also be suiting up in The Dark Knight costume for The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, which is scheduled for release in theaters on November 4th, 2022. Plot details about the Batgirl are being kept secret, it centers on Barbara Gordon (Grace)—the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner Jim Gordon. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing the film from a script by Christina Hodson.
  16. It's Wednesday and you know what that means... ToyFarce review! This week, we're having a look at the latest 2 offerings from the Star Ace Toys Batman Ninja 1/6 figure line, Harley Quinn and the Modern Suit version of Batman. Yes, this is a double review! Star Ace Toys happened to release both these figures at the same time, and I didn't feel like doing 2 separate reviews for those (I like my variety!). Like mentioned in the previous reviews of those figures (Batman Ninja, Joker, Catwoman), I know that the Batman Ninja anime is very divisive: the story is bonkers, there are samurai fights and mechas made of monkeys and bats, but it's so "out there" that i can't help it: it's a guilty pleasure. Also, I really love the character designs in it. The feudal japan take on the characters was pretty awesome. First off, Harley Quinn. The box is gorgeous, like all the boxes from that line. Kudos to the packaging designer! This is the deluxe version so there is an extra insert, cleverly hidden under the first one, with the extra pieces. Harley comes with extra hands, a large rattle drum (looking just like her usual giant mallet), a gourd, a bomb and a flower bomb. The "Deluxe" parts are the extra smiling face plate, an extra gun and an extra hand (to hold the extra gun). Both faceplates are held by magnets and both include moveable eyes, which is pretty great in a day and age when Hot Toys seems to be stingy with the moveable eyes... Just like Catwoman, Harley has a seamless body, in all its weird squishiness. Good articulation, but a bit hindered by the seamless body, which won't let you bend her leg too high as it just goes back down because of the rubber. For example, that pose in the promo pics where she had a foot on her large rattle drum? That won't happen, which is kinda sad. The outfit has great tailoring, another thing that Star Ace Toys seems to know how to do very well. Both heads look really good, even if she does look a bit more on the anime side than the other figures. Definitely looks like a Harley Quinn, though, so why complain? The Modern Suit Batman... is kind of a weird release, I'll admit. We see the 'current day' Batman only for a few minutes in the anime, and it's really not the reason why one would watch a movie called 'Batman Ninja', but the figure did come with light-up feature and a really nice Bruce Wayne headsculpt, so I picked it up too. (Wait... Bruce Wayne is Batman?!). Like Harley, the figure comes with a second 'hidden' insert in the box, with the extra accessories for the Deluxe version. Batman comes with extra hands, 2 batarangs (one with a magnet, which we'll get back to in a minute), and a grappling gun. The Deluxe version adds the unmasked headsculpt, a spear, 2 bombs, the quake engine and a fun japanese arrest warrant. The figure has a light up feature on the chest and in the head. For the chest, you just need to add a small battery in the back of the figure, and a little switch, while for the head, there is a removable part (see pic), to add a battery in. To turn the head light on, you need to use the batarang with the magnet and just touch the forehead of the figure for the light to turn on. (Freaking magnets, how do they work?!). The suit is a bit like the Ninja version, a mix of rubbery/faux leather, which is a bit thick and hinders articulations A LOT, and plastic parts on top. If you keep him in a static pose, it looks awesome. If you want more dynamic poses, it might not be for you. The figure still looks gorgeous on a shelf though. Another nitpick is that it's slightly bigger than its Ninja counterpart, while you would imagine the Ninja one to be bigger with all the armor on. It is a bit odd and he looks like he's in a different scale. Here are all the Batman Ninja figures from Star Ace Toys. The next one should be a version 2.0 of the Batman Ninja one, and there's even a version that comes with a 1/6 freaking horse (!), but I think i will pass on those, as I am running out of space on that Batman Ninja shelf... Time will tell! More news at 11:00... Go ninja go ninja go!
  17. BREAKING NEWS FROM TOYFARCE! Last week, this week, and even actually TODAY, McFarlane Toys announced more figures for their ever-growing DC Multiverse line, and about 97% of them ended up being Batman-related: More figures for the upcoming "The Batman" movie were announced last week, a simple-yet-efficient Rebirth Batman was also announced last week, 2 different Batman (!) from the Future State comic book event were announced this week, and a Target Exclusive (argh!) Batman of Zur-En-Arrh was even announced as we were preparing this article. Talk about fate! ToyFarce received an exclusive anonymous tip that this is all leading to a bigger reveal later on: The McFarlane Toys company will actually change name, and be called "McBatman Toys"! We received a watermarked picture of the logo which you can find here: What are your thoughts on the sudden (yet predictable) name change? Let us know in the comments! More news at 11:00... Quick, to the Batcave! (name of my collection room) *ToyFarce News is parody news for laughs and not meant to be taken seriously!
  18. I got Armoured Batman for Christmas and had some fun doing a few scenes. Like all McF figs, they fight you some and could use more accessories, but overall it's really fun to get a movie/Miller fig.
