  1. We first saw it last weekend at Toy Fair and now Kotobukiya has released official images and info for their upcoming G.I. Joe A Real American Hero Scarlett Bishoujo statue. The world’s first series of action figures created by Hasbro, G.I. Joe follows a group of heroes in their fight against Cobra, an evil organization plotting to take over the world. In this new line of 1/7 scale statues, the colorful characters of G.I. JOE are reborn as Kotobukiya’s BISHOUJO! The first character to join the series is an agent from the global elite special unit known as the G.I. JOE team, Scarlett! The statue is based on original art by Shunya Yamashita, which was specially created as concept art for the BISHOUJO statue! A counter-intelligence expert who protects her allies from enemy schemes, Scarlett is proficient with a variety of weapons. Scarlett’s signature red hair and two-piece bodysuit are recreated in stunning detail. While remaining faithful to the original G.I. JOE series, Scarlett’s suit has also been upgraded to represent the advanced, high-tech equipment available to the elite G.I. JOE team, as is evident in the suit’s unique and highly detailed texture. Additionally, like the original action figure, Scarlett comes with an XK-1 power crossbow. Created through the power of technology, this high quality digitally sculpted statue leaves no detail untouched thanks to the expert hand of sculptor Takaboku Busujima (BUSUJIMAX). The G.I. JOE BISHOUJO series will continue to grow with an extensive lineup of characters, so stay tuned for more updates! Yo JOE!! Available in August 2019. You can pre-order this now at HobbyLinkJapan.com.
  2. Not really action figure related but what the hell: IDW Publishing is very pleased to announce that industry icon Stan Sakai will bring his critically acclaimed series Usagi Yojimbo to IDW beginning in June. For the first time ever, new monthly Usagi Yojimbo comic books will be published in full color, and IDW will curate a fully-colored graphic novel library of the complete Usagi Yojimbo – all 35 years of its grand storytelling, plus new stories to come! "I'm delighted to work with IDW Publishing on the new Usagi Yojimbo color series. IDW is a creative company that brings a lot of energy, enthusiasm, and excitement to the table. The IDW family includes many beloved characters, including (of course) the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so it is a natural fit," says Stan Sakai. "Fans, please look forward to this coming June as we'll be releasing IDW Usagi Yojimbo #1, action-packed and now fully colored." Welcome to the world of Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo in June with the first thrilling chapter in an all-new three-part story! Set in the Edo period of Japan, this adventure sees Usagi embroiled in a puppet drama where the players are not quite what they seem. Sakai adds, "Bunraku (Japanese puppetry) captures many elements that make the world of Usagi Yojimbo unique: an adventure filled with Japanese culture, folklore, and history. It also features the return of a long-awaited fan favorite character and Yokai (Japanese supernatural creatures). I’d like to thank the readers for their continued support of Usagi, and if you haven't read Usagi before, this is a great place to start." Marking this milestone with a spectacular selection of covers, Usagi Yojimbo #1 includes a main cover by Stan Sakai, plus variants by Daniel Warren Johnson (Murder Falcon), Kevin Eastman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Walt Simonson (Ragnarök, The Mighty Thor). Written and illustrated by Stan Sakai for over thirty years and published in over fourteen countries, Usagi Yojimbo is set in a unique world based on 17th century Japan. Miyamoto Usagi, who once served as the personal bodyguard for a Japanese warlord, now traverses this unique world – a landscape populated by ghosts, dinosaurs, monsters, and warriors of all kinds – as a ronin. In his many exciting adventures, the swordsrabbit hones his skills, saves villages, and often finds himself navigating the delicate affairs of national/political significance. "We’re all ecstatic to have Stan Sakai and Usagi join the IDW family,” says IDW President & Publisher/Chief Creative Officer Chris Ryall. “Usagi Yojimbo has been one of the most consistently wonderful comic-book series for decades now, a bright spot in publishing matched only by the consummate skill and professionalism its creator Stan brings to everything he does. It’s a thrill to not only be able to publish new Usagi comics but also present them all in an all-new, vibrantly colored way." Follow IDW on social media for the latest updates on new Usagi Yojimbo comic books and graphic novels. 5. Global play and entertainment group Hasbro Inc. today announced a collaboration with footwear brand ASICS to create all-new colorways inspired by two fan-favorite G.I. Joe characters: Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. The special edition GEL-LYTE III shoes and coordinating apparel and accessories from New Era and Hex will be available exclusively at Foot Locker stores worldwide February 22, 2019. The line is inspired by an epic chapter in the G.I. Joe lore: the rivalry between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. Once brothers in arms as part of the Arashikage Clan, they find themselves on opposing sides of the struggle between G.I. Joe and Cobra. Now Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes each adorn their own GEL-LYTE III shoe designed by world renowned pop artist Anderson Bluu. Uncompromising on style and comfort, the GEL-LYTE III boasts iconic and innovative design that wouldn’t be complete without the split tongue and ASICS’ famous GEL® technology cushioning; a silicone-like material that effectively absorbs shock and protects the feet from high-impact strikes. The black Snake Eyes model features a crystal rubber outsole with a discovery element, premium emblem and reflective detailing with black leather; the model is elevated and modernized with custom art on the insert. The white Storm Shadow model features a crystal rubber outsole which masks the character beneath while the premium emblem detailing grounds the model in the story. Through the intertwining of story and design aesthetic the model is elevated and modernized with custom art on the insert. On the bottom of both shoe models is an iced outsole revealing Zartan – a shadowy figure who plays a key part in the Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow story. “ASICS has a solid reputation of launching innovative designs to consumers across the globe and we are proud to bring G.I. Joe characters to life in an entirely original way,” said Casey Collins, General Manager and Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Licensing at Hasbro. “We know fans and collectors will appreciate the care and detail ASICS has taken in every aspect of the release from the shoe detailing to the packaging.” “We were inspired by the story of Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes to create these shoes in collaboration with Hasbro,” said Lindsey Sweeney, Global GM Sportstyle Footwear, ASICS. “The characters represent a true Yin and Yang – a duality and symmetry that link their lives together – and we were excited to take that inspiration to our GEL-LYTE III® model.” The ASICS x G.I. JOE shoes will be sold exclusively at FootLocker.com and select POP by Foot Locker doors because Knowing is Half the Battle. G.I. JOE and all related characters are trademarks of Hasbro and are used with permission. © 2019 Hasbro. All Rights Reserved. Licensed by Hasbro.

  9. For me Marvel Legends once again won the day with the most exciting things of the show though Transformers with Omega Supreme and Jetfire were a close second. McFarlane while not having a whole lot that personally excited me this year, I am very hopeful for the future with them and what they will be doing with line like DC Comics and Mortal Kombat. Even their Harry Potter stuff looked pretty impressive though I am not personally a big Potter fan. 2020 I think is going to be an exciting time with them and for DC fans in general which is something I don't think is something they have been able to say for some time. Most disappointing I would say was Mattel. Other than WWE I really can't say they had anything worth noting. Being they are winding down their own DC stuff that really shouldn't be to much of surprise. Playmates was another that was really lackluster not that I think that will surprise anyone. Overall I feel like their some significant shifts going on in the toy industry and while I think Hasbro will continue to be a major player when it comes to action figures, I see companies like McFarlane really upping their game and will be giving real challenges to the like of NECA, Mezco and even Hasbro themselves, especially when the battle for premium shelf space out in retail land is becoming more and more of a rare commodity.
  10. The title says it all. With NYTF having come to an end, let us know what you saw you are most excited for and then what did you see (or maybe not see) that disappointed you the most?
  11. For the record though, I didn't get a Sail Barge and doubt I will. get this either, just don't have the space to display these huge things as cool as they look. If Hasbro ever gives us a proper Death Star playset I will find the space no matter what, but that is probably the only thing this size I would be willing to purchase.
  12. It's a $100 more than Hasbro's Sail Barge and truth be told if I had to choose this or the Sail Barge even though I'm generally more a SW fan than a MOTU one, I would go with this.
  13. LOL, you think these look better than the Marvel Legends ones?
