I'll try to get a few posted here soon. I always wanted Cobra to have a transport of some kind and this seemed to work.

Thanks! I took the red canopys off the Crimson Attack HISS/ASP exclusives from a couple years ago and swapped them with the originals.

Custom Dreadnok Cell I just finished up another dio. I have always wanted to do a Dreadnok base of some kind. I really struggled between a swamp hide out or an urban setting of some kind. I decided with the latter. A SWAT team has just raided a well known Dred cell not knowing the arsenal hidden in the next room behind the "pop" machine. Hope you guys like it! Yup...though I substituted another MARS set instead of the Crimson set. I like it enough, but not enough when I can build up my MARS army instead. I collect the 25th stuff, but I am an ARAH at heart.

Agreed...I have shopping with them for years and it has all been positive.

When we moved into a new house, the room I got for the Joe stuff had two large closets that I could slide the shelf units into, but the water meter was in one of the closets below the current displays, so I hung the white shelves to make room for three narrower dios above it. I was bummed at first because it reduces the number of dios I will make in total, but the smaller dimensions worked better for some of the ideas I am considering making like the two you've seen so far. The room doubles as a guest bedroom, so space is kind of limited.

I liked the comic book version a bit more. It seemed darker to actually steal the bodies as opposed to just getting samples. The "Army of Darkness" figs worked well for this concept. When the skeleton figure came out in one of the Joe DVD packs, that pretty much solidified the design. People who see the display up close, in its early planning stages, always gave me a hard time about the unpainted baby bottles, but like Toiletmonkey1 said, when you find common day stuff that can be tweaked a bit to meet the needs of the dio, it is pretty cool. I just finished another one. I wanted to have a place for a make shift brainwave scanner and a lab for Mindbender. The stockade uses parts from a terror drome, Enterprise consol, Vader's Executer chair and a curved picture frame. The genetics lab uses baby bottles of all things as the storage tanks for the key leader's DNA used to make Serpentor and bacta tank from Star Wars. It is hard to see in the pics, but near the door is a display of old weapons and artifacts (Mostly from the Indiana Jones movie toys) to show Mindbender kept souvies as he collected the DNA stuff. I still have quite a few more to make. I have space for four more Cobra displays on one shelf. Right now I am leaning toward a double level MARS hangar of some kind, but I have not finalized plans for the other two. (Any suggestions?) I still have to get started on the JOE shelf unit (8 displays total), but I wanted to get these smaller displays done first. I plan to make a Cobra Stockade with brainwave scanner connected to a gentics lab for Mindbender in a couple weeks. The third smaller display will be a hideout for Zartan and his dreds that looks like a bar but has a secret high tech storage room for Cobra supplies and weapons. I attached pics of the dimensions I use. I actually have the local lumberyard cut the wood for me so all I have to do is paint, apply stickers and screw the walls together. Most of the pics come from cropped and edited pics from the following sites incase anyone is wondering where I get most of my clipart for the displays. Thanks guys! This past one is one I have wanted to make for some time. I started it last week painting the wall base colors first. My wife and baby girl were out of town for the weekend, so I hammered out the decals and final assembly in one night. (That doesn't count however, the computer time I put in designing the walls and mapping out basic layouts.) I hope to get a good start on the next one (Brainwave Scanner/Genetics Lab) in a couple days.

I'll be passing on this set and picking up another Mayhem set instead. I like the 25th stuff enough, just not ready to give up on ARAH stuff yet as a convention set.

It looks good so far. We'll see.

Very nice...now I gotta look into some Wolverine figs to custom myself. Great idea!!!

It's has been a while since I posted. Moving into a new house kept me away from the DIO construction, but I just finished a new one. The next three I make will be slightly different dimensions given the way I want to display them along with the shelf units. This one is a close combat training area with observation room. I used the SIGMA SIX BATS as training robots for the Joes. The wall segments (terror drome parts) that make up the maze can be moved around as needed to create different scenarios. As you can tell, I was a big fan of the convention exclusives last year and the "Marauder" furniture and modular weapons helps a ton too. Hope you like it! Had a request by a TNI member to post some of the JPEG files I made for the BAT MNT. Bay. (I hope I didn't violate any copyright laws by posting them, but if I did , moderators, please do what must be done.) Hope you can find a use for these if interested. Looking forward to getting back to building more custom levels this summer. Next up is a double level MARS weapons bay for Destro with three AGPs and 2 DEMONS as well plenty of room for Destro's personal army. (A.K.A. 2005 Convention Set X2)
