  1. I went to my local Wal-Mart yesterday and found the new GI Joe: Resolute wave of figures including Blowtorch. While looking closely at the packaged figure, something caught my attention...this particular Blowtorch figure was packaged with a Cobra logo stand instead of a GI Joe logo stand. At first, I thought that it would more than likely have a coresponding Cobra character's name printed on the stand, but when I checked the package from the side, I saw CODE NAME: BLOWTOURCH was clearly printed on it. I posted a few pics below, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this type of variation/error.
  2. I was randomly checking HTS earlier today and was able to pick up 2 of each wave 2 figure (except for the trooper). As I got to the checkout screen, I did a quick Google search for any promo codes and came across the 25FALL code and saved 25%. I guess I lucked up because these went fast! I was really hoping that Rowdy Roddy Piper might be availble, but I guess I'll have to go evil-bay to get one now.
  3. I will be attending during public admission on Saturday and I'm looking forward to aquiring a few items I need to fill out my collection. Man, I'm so excited! I will be bringing the two ML customs below with me and I will be accepting comissions to produce more now that I have some free time.
  4. Yeah, I read about this the other day. Have some faith in Beattie. http://www.latinoreview.com/news.php?id=2780
  5. Awesome work, man! That's definitely the first ML Dusty custom that I've ever seen and I have to say you did a great job sculpting/painting it. Dusty is one of my favorite characters from GI Joe and he was the only figure I took with me every time I deployed to the desert. I will be separating from the USAF next month and moving back home to GA. As I will no doubt have some free time on my hands as well as easier access to figures/accessories for custom fodder, I will be working on some new ML GI Joe customs that I've been planning on for while now. I just hope they can match the level of exceptional quality of the customs I seen recently here on TNI.
  6. Here's some pics of the vintage vs. new GI Joe figures from my collection (I know they are large pics, but I felt it was appropriate to see the details): I like the paint apps and detailed sculpting of the new figures; however, I found them very difficult to pose and hold their weapons securely. The plastic used feels very cheap when compared to the vintage figures as well. The GI Joe stands need to be redesigned as the pegs need to be centered because the holes are no longer located on figures' heels.
  7. SmallJoes has the single-carded figures back in stock: http://smalljoes.com/gijoe_figures.shtml
  8. You can go clubin' at Buckhead, ride rollercoaters at Six Flags Over Georgia, take a walk in Underground Atlanta, see The World of Coca-Cola, eat at the Varsity by GA Tech, take a trip to Stone Mountain, see the animals at Zoo Atlanta, watch a show at the Fox Theatre, or anything else you might wanna do if you have the time. Here's a list of Atlanta's tourist attractions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta_Attractions I actually hail from Dublin, GA (home of the "Redneck Olympics") and I'm very happy that I will finally get to attend the convention in my home state's capitol.
  9. Dude! That Buzzer is pure perfection! I love the sculpted-details and the paint looks flawless. Your work just keeps getting better and better; I can't wait to see which character you make next.
  10. An '86 Gen Hawk sealed on a damaged card for $25 shipped is a pretty good deal if you intend to open it. It's not easy to find a perfectly mint loose Hawk as the paint on his hair and eyebrows is usually worn a bit due to the tight fit of his helmet. The silver paint on his belt buckle can easily wear as well. I've seen a several moc '86 Hawks go for about $20 each over the past few years, but they don't sell for much less than that. I'm always looking to buy factory mint figures on damaged cards as they are usually much cheaper, especially army builders like the '86 Viper. Recently, I picked up four of them for $25 each all from the same seller. The cards were opened up just enough to for the original owner to take out the battle ribbons. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1

  12. I'm currently deployed, but I did manage to get some pretty cool stuff for Christmas. Honestly, I did buy most of this stuff for myself and I can't wait to finally get home next month to enjoy them! Playstation 3 (60GB version) and Ridge Racer 7 (I actually bought the console and game here at the BX...this is gonna be one heavy carry-on item) Nintendo Wii with Wii Sports, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, plus 3 other games (my wife has it at home and has been playing it with her friends...she's leaving Zelda just for me since she bought it) Gears of War (got this game from the shoppette the other night and we have been playing it constantly) Xbox 360 HD-DVD player (my wife got this for me) Yamato Macross Plus 1/60 YF-19 Yamato Macross Zero 1/60 VF-0A MP-3 Starscream MP-4 Convoy Complete Version Marvel Legends Series 14 & 15 Hot Rodimus Ford GT & Syaosyao Transformers Classics: Rodimus A large metal sword that is styled like the one FFVII Cloud uses (My best friend Danny got it for me, but he's gonna hold on to it until I PCS back to the US) A new bed (my wife bought it for the both of us) Some candy and cards, but I think that's about it.
  13. Meh, you guys don't know how good you all have it when it comes to Macross toys these days. I still remember vintage Takatoku and Bandai 1/55's being quite rare and commanding prices of $300 to $500 for non-armoured versions to $1000 to $1500 for the DYRL variants. While the latest Macross offerings from Yamato aren't cheap, they are superior in almost every way to the old "chuncky monkeys". They feature an insane amount of detail with sculpts that follow the line art almost flawlessly. There are a lot of little moving parts and the painted/tampo-printed details are tight. They are relatively expensive to design and produce from a manufacturing stand point and the actual market niche that Yamato caters too is very small compared to other toylines. It's also important to note that these Yamato toys come in very large boxes and have to be exported for sale outside of Japan. Most sellers in the US and other countries have to secure their pieces through a middle-man and pay costly shipping fees which get passed on to you. Are they worth it? For a lot of long-time fans of Macross, the answer is a definitive yes. This is considered the "golden age" for Macross toy fans 'cause we have never enjoyed such quality and variety as we currently do. As much as I love my Yamato valks, the Bandai 1/55 Elintseeker is still my favorite.
  14. Cool display! There's just something special about those original Joes that make them so iconic. All you need now is an original Hawk. I still need to pick up a JUMP pack set for my collection; I think Stalker looks great with that set.
