  1. Here are a couple more new pictures.

    http://news.yahoo.com/new-star-wars-7-images-shed-light-on-the-force-201443289.html

A couple that caught my attention:

The one with Kylo, Rey, and Finn in the snowy woods. Yeah, that mess of curly black hair on Kylo would make you lean toward guessing that he is NOT Luke....

Also the creature walking with a cage on his back. I love it. The return to using puppets and the like is really helping setting the "old time" feel that I'm hoping this movie will have. If I saw this same character in CGI I wouldn't have given a darn about him.

Luke has already run the gamut of emotions. Going evil was stupid in the expanded universe, and would just be plain lazy in this one.

Also... more practical effects? "As much as possible?"

I want to believe that seamless wire work made that Stormtrooper go end over end after Han shot him.

Also also...lightsaber-blocking Stormtroopers. I'm gonna guess that came from the thought that there wasn't enough swordplay and that audiences might get bored? Skilled in hand to hand combat in an age where Jedi are "legend" yet they still can hit the broad side of a moisture farm with blasters...

  2. I'm so @##@@ tired of hearing about @##@@ Jessica Jones. I didn't give a #$## about the books, and I don't give a #$## about the faux-television show.

    It's so daaaaaaaaaark!

    Superheroes have to be flaaaaaaaaaaawed!

    Like meeeeeeeeeeee!

    No silly costuuuuuuuuuuuuumes!

    Butt seeeeeeeeeeeeex!

  3.

I wonder why she always wants to meet Clark instead of flying to Metropolis to visit him?

I'm guessing we're going to be asking that question for the duration of the show. If they're not going to say the guy's name, we sure as heck ain't going to see him on screen.

Why exactly would we see him on screen? Superman's a busy guy and Kara is a full grown woman. I'd find it a lot more troubling if he DID show up at the drop of a hat.

Because a guy who has spent a fair amount of time moping about being the last Kryptonian might be excited to see a blood relative, at least upon her discovery?

    Nope. Send "James."

  4. I don't think society really gives a sh*t, but Disney is hyper sensitive about their image and if upper middle class soccer moms start agitating they're gonna play it safe more often than not.

Pretty sure Disney would have made a bigger stink about Amy Schumer's "parody" if she wasn't pushed by the "progressives.".

Maybe this is a move to safeguard against garbage like that?

  5. Well.....I saw it....over the weekend at TRU.....The 6" New Order Tie-Fighter.....it was amazaballz.....the box can be lived in......I'm doing some serious number crunching...I think I'm going to put it on lay-away.....I have a 15% off coupon I can use.....well see.....I don't need it but it's just too juicy to pass on.....so far nothing else new on the pegs....that I saw

Saw one on discount with a big gash on the box...$109.00.

Could always take your chance with a box knife.

  6. Missed most of the episode as I was catching Friday the 13th with my niece, but I made it back in time to see the crazy CGI King Shark. I'd say it was at least as good as their work on Grodd, and WAY better than their rather lackluster job on Atom Smasher.

Remember, the days of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when these guys were just stuntmen in rubber-suits and prosthetic make-up?

I can understand the thought of "if you can't do it right, don't do it at all," but I was pleased with what I saw for as little as we had it.

KIng Shark looked just as good as anything in 2 big Marvel CGI crapfests, but since you brought up old Joss, maybe this is better?

  7. Got a quick question. I've only bought two figures so far, a Capt Phasma a couple weeks ago and a First Order Stormtrooper lastnight. Is Hasbro's scale all over the place or is there a reason Phasma is like 1/2 inch taller (and in general a much bigger figure) than the Stormtrooper? I couldn't tell in any of the trailers if she's jus taller or what, just seemed strange to me.

    15459-26745.gif

    "That's a huge ____!"

  8. Mr. Terrific is gay...guess he wont be championed by the Spectre this time?

The character was already the worlds worst athiest.

Maybe they decide to bend the personification of the Wrath of God to fit the pc agenda even more?

  9.

Whinning will happen regardless of whether or not the movie is good. It's a given.

I see the whinning as a back-handed compliment. Nobody bitches or moans when a new Fast and the Furious or Mission Impossible sequel comes out.

Only sci-fi and superhero movies inspire that kind of passion.

I hate the MI movies...so there's one. And people made fun of grown men "bitching" about Jem and the Holograms...well, the reviews are in, folks!

and dont forget book adaptions outside of sci fi...tough crowd there. Waiting for the #$## to hit the fan for the younger, hotter, black Ms Marple movie coming soon

  10. Im with Joe.

how much articulation is needed to recreate play patterns with the original trilogy? Sure, i like to be able to pose Stormtroopers in all sorts of death throes, but the action is overall pretty static or comes from laser fire/guns/spaceships.

I estimate that those bitching loudest looove the high octane lightsabre battles made popular in the prequels. cool for the sake of cool. flash, and little substance.

Could be wrong. Im happy buyin in cheap. I think the sculpts are fine.

and all others? Happy hunting at Walmart...this is beyond getting old.

  11. Han Solo is the true believer/mentor character? Well...he's as good as dead.

They talk of what happened in the OT as myth and legend...can't wait for all the "canon" garbage (Novels, Comics, Cartoons, Video Games) to explain away that mystique at a much faster rate than they did with the originals. It will happen pretty much concurrently. $$$

Even with an overabundance of CGI, the trailer was pretty exciting.

  12.

A watch dog group (we all love hearing from them) has labeled Supergirl "perfect for all ages".

    https://www.yahoo.com/parenting/best-and-worst-new-tv-shows-for-kids-192130777.html

That's good and all but it just reenforces my prediction of how this show will be under the microscope by the media.

With some of the shows I've seen, maybe a little more media bird-dogging is a good thing. Arrow and the Flash are fine for a 43 tear-old like myself, but I'd like a show I can watch with my nieces and nephews.

Still gotta keep em safe from some images when googling the star of the show.

  13. the one Walmart I went to was pretty cleaned out of the 3.75in figures...well, saw all but Kylo. At least 4 full sets of the 6in series there. Tons of shitty die cast/hot wheels.

Picked up the AOTC and ROTS micro packs and a retro, ringed sleeved Ghostbusters shirt and left.

  14.

You could stay home and buy everything right now on Amazon...a lil patience...it will be at your door Tuesday with Prime.

I almost did that but I'm going to chance it and wait. I have dozens of Target gift cards that have just been sitting from the wedding over a year ago. Plus returns will be easier if the movie sucks :D (but I'm not counting on that).

Tell us, how many figures did you buy from this movie you hate? :D

None, yet. Going shopping/errand running after work today. I only plan on buying prequel Micro Machine sets if they are out there....some were on the product checklist. I might buy the new movie Micros, but the figures, especially the 5POA that im interested in, will be around a looooong time. Long enough at least to make a decision on the movie itself.

  15. I haven't seen any new 6 inch Black series figures in my area in months

I saw 3 Obi-Wans clearanced to $9 and some 3.75 red-tagged at $12 (?) at a Walmart that is preparing for the 4th yesterday. Also marked down those SW army men and quite a few Rebels items....LEGO sets, too! Out with the old....
